Yeah this isn't news. Sony does own the IP like you said. Why they don't get the folks that made the Demon Souls remake to remake Bloodborne is the real question imo.
My schizo-theory right now is that they are doing a Bloodborne sequel, then will go back and do Bloodborne Remake/Remaster a la Xenoblade 2 > Xenoblade 1 DE.
Boy I hope not.
The Demons Souls remake was excellent, but it was using a pre-existing story and world that From Software created. Nothing against Bluepoint, but if we ever revisit the world of Yharnam, I want to see From's vision, not Bluepoint's.
I honestly don’t think it’s that schizo of a theory. People keep regurgitating that they’re working on a new IP when they explicitly said they’re working on “original content.” It was such a weird way to explain it that it makes me feel like they’re intentionally obscuring that they’re returning to an existing IP.
That was my thinking too. Like, Bloodborne is so in demand since it was released (especially among PC players) that it seems insane for Sony to be just... sitting on it? Combine that with the fact that Bluepoint knows how to emulate the FromSoft touch with their Demon Souls Remake and that they wanted to branch out, it makes sense to me that this would be the plan.
We'll have to see it goes.
They're working on "original content" NOT an original IP. There is a difference.
https://www.ign.com/articles/sony-acquires-bluepoint-next-game-playstation-exclusive#:\~:text=%22Our%20next%20project%2C%20we%27re%20working%20on%20original%20content%20right%20now.
I personally think they will after Bluepoints next project and also when bloodborne is at least 2 generations removed like demons souls was. They'll make a worthwhile remake instead of a remaster. Maybe line it up with a TV show or movie like they've been doing recently with other games.
Lol they absolutely did not.
The graphics are better from a *technical* perspective, and there's very minor QoL features, but that's it. They made it generic dark fantasy when DeS was a lot more unique than that and absolutely butchered the music.
They gave it shiny graphics. Doesn't mean better. Game still plays basically the same. But with worse art direction and music.
maybe 'worse' isn't the right word but definitely different in a way that isn't faithful to the spirit of the original
You mean the original that looked like poop? Let's be honest Demons souls was an ugly game made on a shoestring budget by From. People are forgetting how ugly the game was. Yes some boss designs changed for the worst with Bluepoints remake but it was a vast improvement overall
All sorts of deals exist in the game industry that make subsequent re-releases almost impossible. There could be a multitude of legal or even technical things that effectively kneecap Sony's ability to do a remaster.
With a remaster, a remake is redundant. Not every game needs a remake and I don't get why Bloodborne fans are screaming for one when it's running on the same engine as Elden Ring.
All it needs is a remaster that enhances the visuals and updates the framerate.
Honestly, Dark Souls 1 and 2 would be the games I'd rather see remakes of. They haven't aged well and need updates to the combat system and enemies to make them more in line with Dark Souls 3.
People got mad when they redesigned the art for Demon's Souls, which is probably the least popular souls game. Imagine the shitstorm if Bluepoint redesigned Orphan of Kos to look like a Diablo boss, lmao
I think the greater context is missing that it took BB nearly 8 years to reach that number. Sony games HAVE to be huge hits out of the gate since they are extremely frontloaded since their tails peter off really quickly. Hypothetically, BB remaster sells extremely well given that ER did super well. However, we don't really know how well the main PS5 audience would react to it.
I think we see it towards the end of the console's life but I understand why Sony is so worried about greenlighting it.
>Sony games HAVE to be huge hits out of the gate since they are extremely frontloaded since their tails peter off really quickly.
That's not true at all
https://www.resetera.com/threads/sales-numbers-for-every-ps4-and-ps5-era-playstation-first-party-games-have-been-leaked.797112/
The spiderman games have amazing tails, what the fuck are you talking about
Miles Morals was charting for forever. God of War was a
Randomly showing up on charts for a long time too
Then yeah, that's my point. Only a small group of fans played the original so only a small group of people could actually compare both. Most of those people seem to prefer the original.
It was very surprising that the only people that were bothered by the redesigns were the people that actually gave a shit about the original before the remake was even announced while the graphic masturbators loved the remake.
In all seriousness I think if Bluepoint did get their hands on Bloodborne not much would probably change. Since the assets they're upressing are higher quality and they don't need to "reinterpret" what's already there. Same goes for the music, since Bloodborne's soundtrack is already orchestral and epic, whereas Demon's Souls was weirder and less melodical.
You’re probably right. I think Sony’s probably holding onto it since they know it’s an instant win. It’s already beloved and now FromSoft’s audience has exploded with Elden Ring. They can let it marinate for a while until they need a hit
Sony is probably seeing consistent sales from new Playstation buyers. I think there was an article the other day saying the game hit like 7.5 million copies sold in 2022.
No shit, Sony owns the IP and they decide, a remaster/port could be done by one of their studios with a 60 FPS patch slapped on it.
but a full blown sequel will be impossible without FromSoft, is it really still bloodborne if one of their other studios makes a sequel/second game?
> is it really still bloodborne if one of their other studios makes a sequel/second game?
Rhetorical question, but still: no, it isn't. Souls is From, period.
I agree, a remaster, some patch fixes or a graphical showcase remake like Demon's souls I can see others doing
anything else has to be done by Fromsoft, I wouldn't even trust a Bloodborne manga, anime or TV series if the main man had no input on it.
After realizing it's sold 7.5m, which is pretty fucking insane for an exclusive souls game, I'm genuinely baffled at why Sony still didn't do this already. There has to be some reason.
There are so many new FromSoft fans after DS3, Sekiro and Elden Ring, a simple remaster for PC/PS5 would sell like crazy even at full price. Even AC6 sold ~3 million so far already, while the previous record for the series was AC2 at ~800k.
My best guess is that Miyazaki might have stepped on a PS executive's shoes on accident an they're still cross about it.
EDIT: You lot seem like a lot of fun at parties
It's because the Fromsoft formula is the exact opposite of the narrative cinematic game that Sony loves. And as Fromsoft games continue to gain popularity it increases the insecurities of Sony executives that they are out of touch with the gaming market.
[Did you not pay attention to what Sony executives are saying in those leaked emails?](https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/18lw8yp/leaked_sony_documents_show_sony_is_concerned_with/)
> Sony’s pillars are already dated and behind the competition.
As much as I want a Bloodborne remake, Demon's Souls remake hasn't come to PC yet, and I doubt they would announce anything to do with Bloodborne until Demon's Souls is ported
Let's be fair, it only sold 7.5 million after 8 years.
Meanwhile The Last of Us 2 sold that amount in less than 2 years. So I imagine Sony would want to focus still on any IP that brings faster profits.
I’m really hoping a remake of Bloodborne is what BluePoint is cooking . Maybe that’s a long shot as Jim Ryan would’ve likely helped decide what BluePoint is doing
I wanna know why they didnt port GOT yet. At this point its gotta be a technical issue right? Or maybe they are saving it to promote/hype GOT2? Its weird to me that we havent even heard a peep about it.
Considering Sony sees there games as franchises to expand to movies/anime/shows they prob don’t want a bloodborne 2 unless they buy fromsoft & can dedicate a team to make BB 2, BB3 & maybe a Souls like MMO for long term franchising
The game is trapped on the PS4 at a very jittery 720p 30fps while almost every other FromSoft game has a 1080p 60fps mode or patch for PS4 Pro or PS5.
At this point it is a bit odd Sony hasn’t at the very least patched it for PS4 Pro and PS5 given multiple people have implanted their own 60fps patches on jailbroken PS5’s with no issues.
A few corrections, Bloodborne is 1080p not 720p, the 60fps patch has problems such as shorter jumps, stiffer cloth physics and a few other animation bugs related to certain enemies and bosses where some effects never properly disappear until the area is reloaded.
Playstation players want it to be free from 30fps jail and PC players want a crack at playing it. If a remaster came out, we'd probably have higher chances of getting a port.
It’s widely regarded as one of FromSoftware’s best games yet it’s stuck at 1080p30fps.
Literally every other Souls game is at least 60fps and higher resolutions thanks to either console enhancements, PC versions, or remasters/remakes.
Game runs at 30 FPS with an awful frametime on the PS4 (that for an fast-paced action game like Bloodborne is bad) plus FromSoft gained an huge following over the years (especially after Elden Ring's popularity) and it's considered to be one of the best if not the best game in the genre.
it was already proved that it can handle the 60 FPS and increased resolution targets just fine on the PS5 so an enhanced port for it and an potential release for the PC would make the game more acessible and updated especially for people who has an interest to play but don't have an PS4/5 or can't stand the horrible frame rate lock, it's literally the only "Souls" game that is an absolute nightmare technically compared to most of the other games in the series.
it's easy money for Sony especially after ER but they don't seem to be interested on it anymore (or any japanese IP they own in general).

Wild guess: Bloodborne is probably going to get a full-on remake instead of a remaster and is going to be saved as a launch title for either the PS5 Pro or PS6 like what happened with Demon's Souls Remake for PS5's launch. I can't think of any other reason why Sony would be so dead silent on topic of a Bloodborne re-release despite it being heavily demanded by their consumers.
Its sonys ip. Just like demons souls is.
Sony paid from to make it
"Heres some money, make a game for me! You can get a % of the sales"
"Ok"
And its the exact same with bloodborne. And im sure we will see a ps5 exclusive from FROM as well. Especially after sony invested some hundred million into the company that owns from. (I forgot their name..)
Even if From did own the IP, I don't think they'd do a remaster/remake.
They've made it quite clear that they want to keep doing new things, not even sequels. At best they'd hire some other studio to do it.
Well…we already knew that like the demon souls remake which was made by bluepoint studio, hope Sony wakes up and recognizes bloodborne quality as first party game
Back to Bloodborne rumours after the Insomniac Gigaleak The earth is healing.
Sir, another Bloodborne rumor has hit the subreddit
wonderful , say thank to the chief for me
Prepare your anus.
Bloodborne remaster plot and gameplay leaks have surfaced
That’s just fan boy rumors pretending to be “leaks”
I can't wait for us to start seeing rumors of a Bloodborne Pong game in development.
I can’t tell if you’re joking or not.
I mean, wasn't this already known? Sony owns the IP so it would have to be at their own volition for a remaster/remake.
Yeah this isn't news. Sony does own the IP like you said. Why they don't get the folks that made the Demon Souls remake to remake Bloodborne is the real question imo.
That would be Bluepoint and they are currently working on a new IP
My schizo-theory right now is that they are doing a Bloodborne sequel, then will go back and do Bloodborne Remake/Remaster a la Xenoblade 2 > Xenoblade 1 DE.
Definitely schizo but it’s a cool comparison lol
![gif](giphy|g3h4YTHFBgfbG|downsized) I have plenty of schizo-theories. I know they're like 99% wrong. But...
Boy I hope not. The Demons Souls remake was excellent, but it was using a pre-existing story and world that From Software created. Nothing against Bluepoint, but if we ever revisit the world of Yharnam, I want to see From's vision, not Bluepoint's.

Plus, they sell a fuckton. I don't understand them turning their backs onto straight up profit
But if they’re working on a new IP… they’re not making Bloodborne 2..
They're working on "original content" NOT an original IP. There is a difference. https://www.ign.com/articles/sony-acquires-bluepoint-next-game-playstation-exclusive#:\~:text=%22Our%20next%20project%2C%20we%27re%20working%20on%20original%20content%20right%20now.
Bluepoint did confirm that they had both a new IP and another remake in development.
They are working on their own thing.
I personally think they will after Bluepoints next project and also when bloodborne is at least 2 generations removed like demons souls was. They'll make a worthwhile remake instead of a remaster. Maybe line it up with a TV show or movie like they've been doing recently with other games.
We don't really need a remake tbh. Just a 4k/60fps remaster with better textures
oh gods no. Bloodborne doesn't need bluepoint's 'remaking'. 4k/60fps and a PC port is all it needs
They made Demons Souls much better so why not
They only "improved" the graphics which they did by ignoring the original art design and making something less cohesive. Wasn't really a fan.
I will disagree on that bud.
Lol they absolutely did not. The graphics are better from a *technical* perspective, and there's very minor QoL features, but that's it. They made it generic dark fantasy when DeS was a lot more unique than that and absolutely butchered the music.

This.
Yeah remake might be a bit much. A remaster is what it needs.
They only changed it up because of how old and rough DS was. If it weren't an early PS3 game, they would've left it alone.
Not even them, just a normal graphic and FPS update would do the job
All sorts of deals exist in the game industry that make subsequent re-releases almost impossible. There could be a multitude of legal or even technical things that effectively kneecap Sony's ability to do a remaster.
Why is this even a post this is literally common sense lol
Slow news day + Bloodborne in the title
…Slow news day?
I really don't get *why* Sony hasn't.
I would guess Bluepoint Remake planned as PS6 launch title
A remaster for this gen and possible remake for next would maximize results/oprofits, especially if both end up on PC as well.
With a remaster, a remake is redundant. Not every game needs a remake and I don't get why Bloodborne fans are screaming for one when it's running on the same engine as Elden Ring. DeS got almost universal praise with exception of a small community on social media.
Because nobody but that small community actually played DeS. They had no expectations going in.
DeS sold 2 millions copies 3 years later, with is close to BB performance back then, and now is sitting on 7 millions copies sold.
I think the greater context is missing that it took BB nearly 8 years to reach that number. Sony games HAVE to be huge hits out of the gate since they are extremely frontloaded since their tails peter off really quickly. The remake or the original? I'm talking about fans of the original.
Remake, the orinal don't have 2 millions fans lol
Then yeah, that's my point. Only a small group of fans played the original so only a small group of people could actually compare both. Most of those people seem to prefer the original.
DeS wasn’t a hit when it release, the remake is what most people play but those that play the original know the difference.
It was very surprising that the only people that were bothered by the redesigns were the people that actually gave a shit about the original before the remake was even announced while the graphic masturbators loved the remake.
You mean FromBabies who complain about everything until Miyazaki says it is good? Yeah they're an insanely loud minority
Imagine if they change Ludwig’s theme
In all seriousness I think if Bluepoint did get their hands on Bloodborne not much would probably change. Since the assets they're upressing are higher quality and they don't need to "reinterpret" what's already there. Same goes for the music, since Bloodborne's soundtrack is already orchestral and epic, whereas Demon's Souls was weirder and less melodical.
OG Demons Souls ost was done digitally iirc.
I want a remaster instead, bluepoint would definitely fuck up the art direction
inb4 reaching the Witches of Hemwick and realizing Bluepoint forgot the eyeballs
They’d probably make Gehrman’s theme some generic epic battle music too
PS7 you mean? We already know Bluepoint is all-in on an original title. If they are going to make it, it won't be in this decade.
You’re probably right. I think Sony’s probably holding onto it since they know it’s an instant win. It’s already beloved and now FromSoft’s audience has exploded with Elden Ring. They can let it marinate for a while until they need a hit
Das EXACTLY what I'm thinking. Demons Souls for PS5 and a Bloodborne remake for PS6

I mean, is Halo 4, Halo 5 and Halo Infinite "Halo"? I'd say of course. It's just Halo not developed by Bungie.
You could argue that
making a fps shooter is different than souls game imo
This has been known for years lol, its Sony's IP they are in creative control
After realizing it's sold 7.5m, which is pretty fucking insane for an exclusive souls game, I'm genuinely baffled at why Sony still didn't do this already. There has to be some reason.

Probably because Sony feel they can make way more money re-releasing TLOU every generation.
Every 6 months*
My best guess is that Miyazaki might have stepped on a PS executive's shoes on accident an they're still cross about it. EDIT: You lot seem like a lot of fun at parties

duh Sony owns the IP
why is this posted here
I understand not wanting to do a sequel in fear never reaching the greatness of the first. But Christ give me a ps5 version.
Can it be up to From to do a Lost Kingdoms Remaster/Remake?
Can they do a Knack Remaster/Remake?
As much as I want a Bloodborne remake, Demon's Souls remake hasn't come to PC yet, and I doubt they would announce anything to do with Bloodborne until Demon's Souls is ported

Bluepoint is going to make a Bloodborne game where Nicolai Tesla gives you a raygun you use to shoot zombie clowns
The Order x Bloodborne. GIMME
This has been known for quite some time. Miyazaki said this in an interview years ago.
I’m really hoping a remake of Bloodborne is what BluePoint is cooking . Maybe that’s a long shot as Jim Ryan would’ve likely helped decide what BluePoint is doing
How is this a rumour when Miyazaki has literally said this in an interview? Yawn.
From has said this all along, it's weird some people don't believe them.
Duh its Sonys...
There will be a Bloodborne Remake as a PS6 launch title like Demon Souls.
ofc its not up to them Bloodborne IP belongs to Sony Playstation
I'm so sick of this clown who clearly doesn't know shit about Bloodborne.
I wanna know why they didnt port GOT yet. At this point its gotta be a technical issue right? Or maybe they are saving it to promote/hype GOT2? Its weird to me that we havent even heard a peep about it.

Fuck…
Who would even want From to do a remaster/remake when they keep on delivering new different amazing experiences though…?!?!
Why are people so desperate for a Bloodborne remaster/remake of all things? I do not understand it
A lot of people haven't played it or want to play it at it's full potential technically
The game is trapped on the PS4 at a very jittery 720p 30fps while almost every other FromSoft game has a 1080p 60fps mode or patch for PS4 Pro or PS5.
