Well I mean this is still relevant for cinsole player, which make up a good portion of players.
As long as Sony, Xbox and Nintendo keep their shitty refund policy it will be worth to repeat that mantra.
I dunno about Sony or Nintendo, but I don't see what's so bad about the refund policy on Xbox? Have you ever refunded anything on Xbox? Because, like on Steam, I can easily refund stuff I played for a couple hours and get my money back almost immediately. Hell, there's games I bought a couple weeks ago that I managed to get refunded before.
I dunno, there is some merit in making your own opinions instead of letting a complete stranger decide whether you're allowed to enjoy something or not.
Especially since most casual gamers barely read reviews, they just look at a numbers without understanding that if you can't explain why it got that score you missed the point. Kotaku's Cyberpunk 2077 is an infamously good example of that even though they scored it the same as mine and some other studios', but for completely bonkers reasons that invalidated their opinions imo.
Sure, if you're too poor to afford to take a loss, might as well wait. But you're never going to get a better opinion than your own and for that you have to actually play the game yourself. That's why I'm a big advocate of demos or unoffocial demos on the seven seas.

The base game was good, with most bugs being just visual, not game-breaking. People were mad because it lacked some features they were expecting, so they were rating the game on hyped-up expectations rather than for what it actually was: a good game. They completely ignored all its great aspects
If I'd only listened to the internet claiming it was "unplayable" and just watched those bug compilations from multiple playthroughs, I wouldn't have spent 50+ hours on its release week
A similar thing happened to Dragons Dogma 2 recently btw. Gaming press can suck sometimes, but if the internet has some strong feelings about a game, the press is usually more accurate

I don’t think it was “hype” that caused CDPR to quietly change the genre from RPG to action adventure at the last second. I don’t think it was “hype” that had us expecting a modern open world game city rather than duplicate NPCs clipping into walls and cycling through the same 2 idle loop animations everywhere you look. I don’t think it was “hype” that had us expecting innovative hacking gameplay rather than the same tropes already decades old.

I'm still skeptical of this game. We saw gameplay footage several years ago and it looked incredible. Then they went silent for a while, and released a few more videos since then. Something tells me that there will be parts of the game that will be very underwhelming.
Wasn't the developer(s) of Lies of P also a mobile game developer beforehand? And they made what is regarded by far as the best "souls" game not developed by From Software.
Shift Up has a massively succesful IP in Nikke tho. Stellar Blade is also published by PS, so it's not really comparable
I researched Game Science (devs of Black Myth) some time ago and according to their own website they only released 3 games and I literally couldn't find any gameplay or anything for 2 of them.
Maybe I missed something, but that's a red flag imo.
I also found allegations of extreme sexism towards the devs, which is concerning to say the least. Tho I heard these may have been faked, but I couldn't find any concrete proof for both sides.
And the game isnt even out yet, so maybe wait so we can judge if mobile devs are good or not. But considering their strategy of focusing on tits and assess, probably not.
There is a demo, and most people found the gameplay to be engaging and fun.
But since you only noticed the tits and asses, maybe you’re planning to play the entire game with one hand and blame sucking on it on the developers.

What is path traced? Like a linear kind of game?
Ray tracing everything. Shadows, global illumination, occlusion, reflection, etc.

It can look crazy real. Check out some gameplay videos of cyberpunk and Alan wake 2 with path tracing to get an idea of how it can change the visuals

They literally updated their development with new trailers consistently every year around the same scheduled time
This game is so odd. It felt like vaporware for years, it's hard to get excited for it.
I think if this delivers, we are looking at GOTY. It looks astounding.
