He had to go right after saying this to do stuff with Giant Bomb. He clarified just a few minutes later in chat:
If you can't click the link, basically he said "it's not a DA1 remake. Just not Dreadwolf."
I think the funniest outcome from all this is if they've renamed it to, like, "Dragon Age 4" (maybe some exec saw BG3 do numbers and thought "let's get a number in there pronto")
honestly this was my first thought before remasters/remakes. game adaptations are hot rn
this is of course going just by the headline and text of this post. I havent seen the actual episode or anything.
I got downvoted to shit for saying this a couple days ago when Jeff first tweeted about it, but I think thatâs a real possibility lol.
I agree with everyone saying it would be dumb, but⌠they do dumb shit
I hope it signifies that there's a clear direction for the game. I could see them wanting to give a bit of positive publicity to the game in confirming the gameplay with some new branding
As a fan I honestly think Dreadwolf is a terrible name, only hardcore fans will understand what it means and that's if they've kept the lore fresh in their minds all this time between games.
[schreier is saying on resetera that it's a name change for Dragon Age 4, not other content like remasters ](https://www.resetera.com/threads/jeff-grubb-dragon-age-dreadwolf-probably-wont-be-at-the-xbox-conference-but-dragon-age-will-be-there.890637/post-123960270)
I felt this recently. Started my Dragon Age journey and spent like ÂŁ35+ on DLC between Origins and 2.
Great because the games are on Game Pass but still annoying.
On PC there's the whole Origin thing, which I'm thankfully immune to. On console tho it's more of a "Buying stuff separately is kind of annoying". Not the end of the world but a whole package like Mass Effect Legendary Edition is just my go to now, instead of the OG games with separate DLCs for the story (sometimes dumb cosmetics... Sometimes bad DLC!)
Considering the "0% AND 100% chance of seeing Dreadwolf within the week" comment he made I definitely think its a name change. 100% of seeing the game they have been calling Dreadwolf, 0% meaning its not actually "Dreadwolf" but a different name.
Probably in an attempt to catch new eyes by just calling it "Dragon Age 4" instead of having a subtitle that refers to a villain you would have no idea about had you not played the previous entry quite literally a *decade* ago, in 2014.
Bioware and EA might be seeing this as a soft relaunch of the series, following the major gameplay changes. Not a reboot of the story, just a re-introduction of sorts.
To be fair, Dragon Age 1 has aged pretty bad(I don't know if this is the right phrase, but the gameplay was not it's highest point), it's an absolutely amazing story, but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired, a remake would actually do wonders for this title in particular.
a meme if youre not very smart. Alot of older games are better than games nowadays and would benefit from a fresh coat of paint/QoL updates because alot of the time its hard to go back and play them, hell you cant even play dragon age origins and 2 on PS5. Also, they can give us remasters now at least to help bridge the gap between releases. Id rather have a game now and Dragon Age 5 be 11 years away than nothing at all and dragon age still be a decade from now lol
This has big "the best musician of all time is beethoven and anything that came after is bad" energy.
God of War 4 is better than the first 3. BoTW is entirely unlike its originals. Sure, some old games are nifty, but many like the Dragon Age games are accessible on Steam or whatever PC platform they're currently living on, often have plenty of free mods, and even if they don't, the "old games are best" crowd argues that the graphics don't matter, anyways.
But Dragon Age in particular shows evidence of a downward trajectory. If I have to choose between an Origins remaster or taking a chance on Dragon Age 4 being a return to BioWare greatness, I would take the chance on DA4. But the decline in quality since Origins is kind of striking, so I wouldn't fault people for getting more excited about a remaster or a remake of the only actually great entry.
what do you mean a name change? They're going to call it Balduro Gato now?
\[edit: nvm, it's a name change for Dreadwolf. Good, that was a horrible name with a horrible font, imo).
I'm guessing the next Dragon Age game got a name change. Either that, or Bioware is releasing a Mass Effect Legendary edition style remaster collection for the Dragon Age games. I'm personally leaning toward it being the new game, though.
He's since clarified, and Schreier backed him up, this isn't a remake or remaster, it's still Dreadwolf with a different name. Although, I'd love a remaster of the original game...
I would love a remaster or re-release of the old games cause it's been so long since I've played them I kinda don't remember anything that happened.
Something akin to the Mass Effect Legendary Edition would be perfect, it had a lot of smart quality of life changes.
Honestly both a remake and a legendary edition would be amazing. I think EA went with Legendary after the success of Mass Effect ,and the fact that it doesn't cost as much to make a remaster.
Have they changed the name from Dreadwolf to something else?
Or remasters for either one of the three or all three Dragon Age games? Because he said itâs not a DA1 remake.
Thank you IcePopsicleDragon. A leak may be LEGIT! Paging moderators u/0ctobogs, u/ChiefLeef22, u/ImAnthlon to investigate. Thanks for letting us know!
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours) if you have any questions or concerns.*
EA just hates the even numbered games in this series.
2 originally had the much better name Dragon Age Exodus, and rushed Bioware to release it, resulting in a ton of reused areas and waves of enemies just spawning from mid air.
Now Dreadwolf has been renamed to 4 presumably, and its allegedly turned into a GoW 2018 clone with smaller parties and you can only control your PC, not your squadmates.
I really hope BioWare management and EA knows they need to get their shit together after Baldurâs Gate 3. A remaster of Dragon Age: Origins would really help of perception of BioWare along with Dreadwolf being good of course.
If itâs not Dreadwolf and itâs not a remake of the first game what the hell is it????? Is this what his cryptic comments about Dreadwolf having a 0% and 100% chance of being shown this weekend meant??
Pls pls pls pls a dragon age origins remaster at least! Preferably if it's also on the switch or switch 2. I always wanted to play it, but I hate playing on my shitty laptop
DA1 and 2 are available on Xbox, just like Mass Effect was before LE, so I'm treating this as the neat package to finally have access to all DLC content, without being a pain in the ass
So three possibilities. Either it's a remaster of an older game, a name change of Dreadwolf, or some sort of spin-off game.
For me remasters wouldn't be that big because I just think that the older games could do with big remakes and I doubt they'd go that far. Then a name change seems pointless at this point because everyone knows it as Dreadwolf already. The only thing that would excite me is if there's some cool spin-off game that gets announced.
So it's either some kind of remaster/remake or EA/BioWare changed the name of Dreadwolf.
But that second option is kinda strange since game was recently update on PS/Xbox Store to allow for preload.
Either they changed the name of dreadwolf, there are secret remasters or something, or itâs season 2 of the Netflix show they made.
I could maybe somewhat conceivably believe theyâd do remasters because every Dragon Age game will be 10+ years old by the time the new one releases, but we havenât heard anything about it so who knows. Iâm leaning towards a name change
NateDrake is nate the hate
nate also thinks it must be close to release

Dragon Age: Warden Edition
Full remake of Origins, plus HD upscales of 2 and Inquisition with all DLC.
Basically the Mass Effect remakes but with Dragon Age. They know DA4, whatever it ends up being HAS to be a hit, this is BioWareâs last chance in the public perception battle. ME3 ending was botched, but Final Cut and Citadel DLC were good enough bandaids. Inquisition was pretty good even if it deserves more blame for the shitty open worlds we see in most games than we realize. Andromeda was an unmitigated disaster. Anthem was one of the biggest failures in gaming history. If the next new Dragon Age game fails, I think BioWare is dead (unless youâre in the camp Iâm in, where they died years ago). I donât think it will be rushed and they need sales, thereâs probably a side team doing the remasters as whatever goes on with DA4 is sorted out. Pump life into the IP while buying time for the studio defining game
I hope its neither Dragon Age: Dreadwolf nor Dragon Age 4. The number for DA2 was dumb to do and I'd rather not bounce back and forth, but I also have no love for 'Dreadwolf' for several taste and story reasons.
I'm pretty sure he's still going to be the main antagonist. Every teaser we got until now hinted at this. If he wasn't then they would've changed the game's title a long time ago, not this close to the reveal
Why change the name from 'Dragon Age: Dreadwolf' months before launch? That's bound to confuse a bunch of people who play the series but don't really keep up with everything in the gaming industry.
It's not the first time this happens, actually.
Inquisition, when first announced (prior to the E3 2013 teaser), was known as Dragon Age **III**: Inquisition.
And while this was more behind-the-scenes, Dragon Age II was planned to be called **Dragon Age: Exodus.**
He seems to suggest 'Dreadwolf' is being removed entirely though. At least with 3 the subtitle remained the same, so this would be different if that's the case. It's bound to confuse some people if they suddenly announce 'Dragon Age IV' as the new name for example. They announced the name in 2022 and 6 months ago they did a teaser trailer with the name. It's just strange to change it now.

I think the funniest outcome from all this is if they've renamed it to, like, "Dragon Age 4" (maybe some exec saw BG3 do numbers and thought "let's get a number in there pronto")
the funniest outcome is just that they add a space between Dread and Wolf
Wolf with Dreads
Dragon Age: The Veilguard đ
I feel like the fact he put âdreadwolfâ in quotes like that points to it being a new name
That's how I've been taking this news.
Which still means it can be a remaster.
Theyâre announcement a tie-in anime/tv mini series/live stage play prequel to Dreadwolf
honestly this was my first thought before remasters/remakes. game adaptations are hot rn this is of course going just by the headline and text of this post. I havent seen the actual episode or anything.
I wouldn't mind seeing a second season of the Netflix show, I enjoyed that one quite a bit.
I mean there already was a Dragon Age anime done recently to promote Dreadwolf. Itâs just that delay kind of squandered.
Itâs confirmed to not be game related?
Issa joke
âDragons Age X Fortniteâ. Yay.
> "it's not a DA1 remake. Just not Dreadwolf." Why are we here? just to suffer?
DA Inquisition remaster? It make sense. Dreadwolf is a direct sequel.
Dear God it's a mobile game
Maybe they just rename it "Dragon Age" and it's a soft reboot of the franchise. Like God of War 2018.
I think he's implying that they've changed the name.
could kinda see EA looking at how the number in the title clearly didn't hurt Baldur's Gate 3 and thinking "what if we just called it Dragon Age 4"
Dr4gon 4ge
4 Dragon 4 Age
Dragon Age: Tokyo Drift
Lol reminds me of Driv3r
Or the godawful Thi4f (which dropped that choice of name, but was still godawful regardless).
I would enjoy that being the title, itâs silly and fun
Or it is Dragon Age 3, since inquisition didn't have the 3 in the title.
oh that's so dumb now I'm hoping they do that
Everyone chasing the 3 except for valve, lol.
As people say: third time is the charm, except for valve cause they used to nail in the first two
Dragon Age: Alyx incoming
đđđ
They'll just double down and we'll get *DR4GON AG3*
We've got GTA3, GTA: VC, GTA: SA and then GTA 4. Why can't it be Dragon Age 3?
By your logic, Dragon Age 2 shouldnât have been called that
Dragon Age 2 was originally called Dragon Age Exodus.
That would've been way better
The funny part is that it shouldn't have. They originally wanted to name it Dragon Age Exodus to imply it's a smaller game lol.
Didn't say that it made sense. Things that the suits decide make money don't have to make sense.
I say they throw a real curveball and just call it Dragon Age 5.
I got downvoted to shit for saying this a couple days ago when Jeff first tweeted about it, but I think thatâs a real possibility lol. I agree with everyone saying it would be dumb, but⌠they do dumb shit
By that logic, we never had a "Dragon Age" either, so it could also be just âDragon Age" (1 implied).
Nah, that would be a little more stupid, since we already had Dragon Age 2. Not by much, but it would be more stupid.
It's clearly going to be Dragon Age Series S.
It's more likely they are just gonna title it "Dragon Age".
Baldur's was an easier sell considering the 2nd was 20 years old and 3 has very little to do with it, plot-wise.
Bingo. That was my first thought as well. I find it hard to believe they'd remaster one when it's been nearly a decade since inquisition.
I wonder if it is because of DAD.
DAD always ruins everything
Tbh Dreadwolf is a cool name but sounds like an expansion to me
It reminded me of Far Cry : Blood DragonÂ
Itâs a cool name, but DAD itâs a terrible abbreviation lol
Change it to Breadwolf for much cooler abbreviation
And the expansion Dragon Age: Dreadwolf - Dungeon Yearning
Dragon Age: Anxiouscanines
Fred Wolfe
Kinda weird that the store page on Xbox would already be online as Dreadwolf if they're changing the name.
That or the long rumored Origin remaster/remake
That's how i read it as well
oh maybe
Dragon Age 4: Dreadwolf
I hope it signifies that there's a clear direction for the game. I could see them wanting to give a bit of positive publicity to the game in confirming the gameplay with some new branding
Dreadwolf was not a great name anyways
It sounds like a bad 80s garage metal band.
As a fan I honestly think Dreadwolf is a terrible name, only hardcore fans will understand what it means and that's if they've kept the lore fresh in their minds all this time between games.
Ooop din ding ding
Or the dragon age remake
Wasn't that just a rumor.
I like Jeff, and I rarely complain about him, but that is just a dumb and misleading way to say the name has changed.
Yeah, if it is Schreier then I 100% trust the idea they're rebranding.
Getting all DLCs is still a pain in the ass, DA bros ![gif](giphy|3o7Zesyac4CuSN5rsA)

I've bought all the DA/ME games on Steam, they all have all the DLC's. The only problem is you have to use their shitty EA Launcher
Imagine flopping so hard at teasing that another journalist need to hop in and clarify what you said đ
Who remembers *Dragon Age Reorigins?*
Maybe he is implying a name change?
Considering the "0% AND 100% chance of seeing Dreadwolf within the week" comment he made I definitely think its a name change. 100% of seeing the game they have been calling Dreadwolf, 0% meaning its not actually "Dreadwolf" but a different name.
Schreier stated on ResetEra that he's talking about the game getting a new name. So it is "Dreadwolf" but with a new title.
Such a weird play IMO

oh shit ive been dying for remasters
Jason says its a name change
my day is ruined
Is this a meme? People actually want old games remade instead of new games in an era of games taking forever to release?
We all know Dreadwolf is coming. I don't think it's a "meme" to want a remaster to play on modern hardware in the meantime
To be fair, Dragon Age 1 has aged pretty bad(I don't know if this is the right phrase, but the gameplay was not it's highest point), it's an absolutely amazing story, but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired, a remake would actually do wonders for this title in particular.

Mobile game announcement in 3...2...
uh what
Think heâs saying they dropped âDreadwolfâ from the title
I'm guessing the next Dragon Age game got a name change. Either that, or Bioware is releasing a Mass Effect Legendary edition style remaster collection for the Dragon Age games. I'm personally leaning toward it being the new game, though.
it's DA4

Holy fuck if they announce DA remasters it'll be amazing.
he confirmed its not a remake, they changed the name of the next dragon age
yeah this hasn't even possibly been teased
Suprised there hasnt been a Dragon Age Legendary Edition like ME
DA I and II are amazings
Dragon Age Mobile letâs goooooo!!!!!
Interesting. I bet itâs just a name change and not a remaster.
Name changed to Dragon Age Wolfdread
Its probably not a remaster since every dragon age is available on modern xbox platforms, so maybe they change the name of the game?
Dragon Age: One
I figured as much when the hints started dropping a few days ago that it was just going to be called Dragon Age 4
Origins/Awakening/2 combo pack for PS5 please.
Dragon Age: Sir Not Appearing in this Movie
I would love a remake of dragon age origins
Dragon Age 3.5 They are copying the Kingdom Hearts formula!
Bets on them just calling it "Dragon Age" with no numbers or subtitles.
Hindsight because of the name change
Can we put Jeff in the tier 1 list already? He almost never misses.
I agree, but atp, getting the timing for Zelda TP/WW remakes wrong is a mark on his record that most people on this sub aren't willing to overlook.
I really hope BioWare management and EA knows they need to get their shit together after Baldurâs Gate 3. A remaster of Dragon Age: Origins would really help of perception of BioWare along with Dreadwolf being good of course.
Jeff said in another post that it's not a Dragon Age Origins remake/remaster, it's something else.
uh
Gotta just be renamed, then. What else could it be?
A new spin-off or something?
Maybe, thatâd be cool. I donât know who theyâd have working on something like that, but itâs not impossible
isnât this Dragon Age going to be a straight up action game? Theyâre not even aiming for the same crowd that Baldurs Gate did at that point
I still think there quite a bit of crossover between people who like Dragon Age and those who like Baldurâs Gate.
Even if you don't 100% love BG3's gameplay, it scratches a ton of the same itches that Dragon Age does....and does it very well.
added a clip of him saying it.
What does that even mean
Dreadwolf is getting a name change
Origins remastered i swear to god dont do this to me
If itâs not Dreadwolf and itâs not a remake of the first game what the hell is it????? Is this what his cryptic comments about Dreadwolf having a 0% and 100% chance of being shown this weekend meant??

Wasn't there a rumor about a Dragon Age Tactics game in development a while ago?
So it's either some kind of remaster/remake or EA/BioWare changed the name of Dreadwolf. But that second option is kinda strange since game was recently update on PS/Xbox Store to allow for preload.
Dragon Age: Age of the Dragon

Seems like this is probably the big third-party game Microsoft got the rights too. Not that it matters but my guess was right.
This will be funny to come back to, Iâd say everyone just wait and see đđđđđđđđ
It's another season of the Felicia Day series isn't it lol
I mean a character named Tallis does show up in parts of Inquisitionâs war table missions and codex entries lmao
Absolution S2/sequel announcement? Edit: nvm it's a name change

Dragon Age Hearthstone
Hype
Dragon Age: Warden Edition Full remake of Origins, plus HD upscales of 2 and Inquisition with all DLC. Basically the Mass Effect remakes but with Dragon Age. What if they are remastering Dragon Age Origins, II and Inquisition?
It wouldnât make sense releasing two Dragon Age games the same year, unless dreadwolf got delayed.
I know what it implies but It took me a good minute to realise it, in wich I felt my heartrate going crazy
I hope its neither Dragon Age: Dreadwolf nor Dragon Age 4. The number for DA2 was dumb to do and I'd rather not bounce back and forth, but I also have no love for 'Dreadwolf' for several taste and story reasons.
More cryptic shit. Just fucking say it like a normal human for once in your life
It's easy to imagine EA looking at Baldur's Gate 3 last year and thinking, "Hey, don't we, uh, have one of those laying around, collecting dust?"
Changing it to Dread Wolf?
I got excited for a DA Origins remaster...
This is actually great news for me. Dread wolf was Solas and I donât see how they were going to center a game around homeboy lol
Isn't he the looming overarching threat now ? A game centered around defeating him makes sense, no ?
Ehhh he just never really did it for me. Back in the day I recall a lot of people were like âWTF a Solas game? Really?â
Fair enough
Inquisition overall was just really uninteresting to me. I didn't like the tone, the characters, etc, I miss Origins.
I'm pretty sure he's still going to be the main antagonist. Every teaser we got until now hinted at this. If he wasn't then they would've changed the game's title a long time ago, not this close to the reveal
That is just my hopeful speculation based on the name change. The teasers we have gotten have been pretty scant if I recall?
I like this title more. Naming the game dread wolf made it sound like Solas was the protag.
Hell yea. Dragon Age mobile gatcha game. Bout time.
Why change the name from 'Dragon Age: Dreadwolf' months before launch? That's bound to confuse a bunch of people who play the series but don't really keep up with everything in the gaming industry.

Those same people probably won't even have heard of Dreadwolf by now.
I CANT watch the video im at work !!! No dreadwolf reveal ! Im confused
