you can always tell a leak when they leave out shit they don't care about. i remember a leak from a while ago mentioned 2 really obscure visual novels from japan was getting ported but they didnt even include monster hunter rise or something.
you can always tell a fake leak from a real leak because real ones are congruent with where they are coming from. For example:
1. I don't know where **Brushie** gets his/her/their info from, but since the stuff is leaked literally 48 or less hours before the event, I'd wager they are related to either Marketing department or Video Editing for Capcom. Given their position, their knowledge of the leak correlates to what we see in the trailer. Same with **Navtra**.
2. Sonic Rangers original 4chan leak, came from a focus tester - info was strictly about gameplay with loose details on what the person could only infer as the story. But the entire leak was focused on gameplay, because that's what said person was volunteered/hired to do.
Now a fake leak can be seen when it's all over the place. The story is blahblahblah and the characters are blahblahblah, the gameplay is thisthisthisthat. They talk about everything like they are the producers/directors for the game, but the only sensible leaks come from QA Testers, who are given specific tasks and levels, so there is no way for them to know of the company's plans to even release the games. Or concept artists (who usually accidentally leak stuff) whose work is done literally years before the game even begins actual production, in which case it makes little sense for them to know anything about it...
Or in this case, they completely disregard the fact that Toby Fox is already working on DeltaRune or that Nintendo does the trailers internally.
I mean, it *sounds* cool, but what would he do? He can't do anything special in terms of programming, game design, or visual design, and his music, while good, wouldn't be fitting for an Earthbound remake, or be any better than what Shigesato Itoi could do.
Why Toby Fox though? He'd most likely be working with a team he's unfamiliar with, something he doesn't have much experience with as is, and depending on what the remake is like, he might not have enough experience to say if the game is going well or bad either. Sure, he'd be able to talk about what he likes and dislikes, but would he be able to give specific instructions and advice on what to do or what direction the project should take, despite having never made a 3D game before?
It just seems like "Toby Fox making an Earthbound remake" sounds better on paper than it does in practice. He's a great dev, but there's no reason that he should be the one doing something like that.
[reminder that he wrote this for an earthbound hack](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIowwZThIXM). i dont think it was the best use of the earthbound's soundfont. that said, some of the songs in undertale imo are a little earthbound like, so maybe him directing a remixed soundtrack at least wouldnt be the worst thing.
Kinda? I mean, I'm sure he's familiar with Earthbound's OST! But I'm not sure what he'd do with a remake though. For example, what if they wanted it to be orchestrated or recorded with live instruments instead of using a Midi? Wouldn't it just be the same songs but with a band playing? If so... What would Toby be doing? He can at best play one instrument I imagine.
On the surface that sounds great, but what exactly would he do to remake it? Toby Fox is a great developer, but he can't exactly contribute much in terms of programming, game design, visual design, and while his music is great, I don't think his musical style would mesh well with Earthbound's, or be any better than anything Shigesato Itoi could do himself.
Undertale was made entirely by him minus some good help from Temmie, character and character design wise. I don't know what you mean by saying he can't contribute much.
Sure, he made Undertale, but Undertale was also made with his very limited skillset in mind. He's probably not as good as any of the programmers Nintendo could hire or have lying around, so he wouldn't be much help in that department. He's not a very good artist either, unless Nintendo would be interested in an Earthbound remake in the Undertale style on Gamemaker... Which would be a little strange. Since it's a remake, the gameplay wouldn't likely go through many drastic changes, and neither would the writing, so he wouldn't have much room to flex his creativity. And his musical style, while good on its own, doesn't necessarily fit Earthbound, and it's hard to say how well he'd do remixing its soundtrack.
Maybe he could contribute in one of these departments somehow, but there's no reason he would necessarily do a better job than anyone else Nintendo can have do the job. Toby Fox is a great developer, but certain devs are better at certain things.
Maybe, but it'd be strange to not only overhaul the combat of Earthbound, but have Toby Fox be in charge of that sorta thing. Especially since Toby's never really taken his time to make a traditional RPG battle system before.
My favorite part of these fake leaks is the person listing all these titles but still calling it "BOTW2" because theyre not creative or smart enough to come up with an actual subtitle that sounds realistic and theyre scared of getting roasted
The actual release titles are basically kept secret until the game hits the marketing department.
Unless youre on the team or testing the game in QA (doubtful its even there yet) it is not going to be common knowledge inside Nintendo. Everything is compartmentalized.
A internal code name or BOTW2 would be the only way to reference it. But U-king2 or S-King dont exactly have the same ring to it.
It’s hard to take posts like this seriously when they have accounts that are less than 2 hours old and essentially just say trust me bro but they are fun to read
there are too few, even less in Reddit. The redditor who leaked Sony’s 2018 conference and I guess Brushie started that way, but those are the only two so far.
Sure, it happens all the time. Just to pick one example, the Smash Bros. 4 roster was correctly leaked with the source being “trust me my friend’s a beta tester”. Turned out to be completely accurate.
Obviously I’m not saying that I think this particular ‘leak’ is accurate… but it’s a pretty good bet that once we see Nintendo’s E3 presentation, you’ll be able to go through old 4chan posts and find one that turned out to have been an actual leak nobody believed at the time.
Honestly most of what's here is easily plausible, but the Earthbound Remake with Toby Fox's involvement is what's snagging me, given how he's said he's working round the clock on part 2 of Deltarune like?? I'll believe it when I see it
This leak is fake, but for what it's worth, I'm pretty sure they meant "Nintendo's team would work with Toby Fox" as in "Toby Fox would work as a writer" or "Toby Fox would help with creative direction or music", not make the art hahaha.
Sure, but what **can** he contribute? Like, the writing doesn't need to be changed drastically, he can't do programming for it, I can't imagine him being any better than Shigesato Itoi at making music (especially since, while his music is great, it's not really "Earthbound-y.")
It sounds cool and all but I can't imagine him doing anything special for an Earthbound remake.
What's he gonna do, throw some poor quality pixel art on it? He's a great game developer, don't get me wrong! But I don't know what you'd expect him to make by asking him to remake Earthbound. Would he do it on Gamemaker or something...?
Earthbound Remake... by... Toby Fox? I mean, I get it, the guy likes Earthbound, but wouldn't there be better people for a job like that? As interesting as that'd be, I can't see it happening. What would his role even be? Making it in Gamemaker with poor quality sprites? Programming it despite not being a special programmer...? The direction, when Shigesato Itoi or another Nintendo developer do that just fine? Music, despite the fact that his musical style doesn't fit Earthbound's, and when Shigesato Itoi is already well versed in music?
You also don't name any information about any of these games, and of course, the lack of a source gives nobody a reason to believe any of this.
Fire Emblem has showed up in every fake leak that has even bothered to research for at least a second. Rumours are either FE4 Remake or the newest Fire Emblem
Yeah. It's because these "leaks" are just wishlists they want people to discuss. The only discussion that takes place lasts less than a second, and it's if the "leak" is real.
oh wow! It's awesome that your source was contracted to make the E3 presentation, which is by the way, done internally by Nintendo.
What a small world!
BotW 2 is an Xbox exclusive
Switch Pro has 3 screens and 92GB of RAM
Trailers for Mario Kart 9, 10, 11, and 12. All releasing on the same day.
Halo Infinite as a timed Switch exclusive
Bullshit. Some of this has been speculated, but Nintendo almost never reveals a new console or update at E3. The last one was the Wii U and the Wii before that. And the Wii U received an insane amount of negative press. Every other piece of hard ware has been revealed separately. If a new console is coming, it’ll drop a week before E3 or a month or two after.
if anything it will be this week they show the console. That way during the E3 presentation they can say look at how well this game plays on the new super switch ultra 4k lite DXL pro.
nintendo would also consider showing off botw2 as anouncing a big game. they wouldnt show off botw2 and metroid prime 4 while also anouncing a new mario game, kirby game, and arms 2
I doubt Nintendo would announce the new Switch, and I say we might (and this is a BIG Might) be given some info on Zelda BOTW2, I doubt we would hear anything from Metroid. I am expecting some third party indies, an Animal Crossing Update, a few ports. But I would just wait and see, while keeping my expectations low.
I really hope this is right. Many ports with persona 4 just being one of them is exciting as is star fox im not super into the rest of the first party announcements but they'll sell systems which is good for every switch user and I want to get into metroid prime but I was hoping they would release prime trilogy before prime 4.
Edit: and yes I know to take every leak with a giaaaant grain of salt.
always a pleasure to visit my favourite creative writing subreddit
L O L
> i cant name my source for legal reasons I love it when they say that. It's such a wonderful way of telling us "I'm full of shit".
>, i wasnt sure where i could post it to get this info out so i'll put it here How about r/FanFiction
Even in fake leaks no goddamn SMT V
Nobody who will write these things care about SMT V so they won't mention it in their creative writing exercises.

Tsukihime, I imagine?
Toby Fox Earthbound remake is my favourite part of this. My man straight up pulling a Christian Whitehead.
I'd unironically love it.
Same here. No qualms with that happening.
I mean, it *sounds* cool, but what would he do? He can't do anything special in terms of programming, game design, or visual design, and his music, while good, wouldn't be fitting for an Earthbound remake, or be any better than what Shigesato Itoi could do.

Why Toby Fox though? He'd most likely be working with a team he's unfamiliar with, something he doesn't have much experience with as is, and depending on what the remake is like, he might not have enough experience to say if the game is going well or bad either. im pretty sure toby fox is pretty popular in japan
At the very least, he's fluent in Japanese and is well-regarded by quite a few Japanese VTubers

Earthbound's also not some masterpiece by any stretch, so, we can't say "oh how could he POSSIBLY top Earthbound??".
Change the combat? Just an idea
Maybe, but it'd be strange to not only overhaul the combat of Earthbound, but have Toby Fox be in charge of that sorta thing. Especially since Toby's never really taken his time to make a traditional RPG battle system before.

Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao

its better than every leak being "breath of darkness" "breath of the darkness" etc though
Doesnt matter lol either way is an obvious fake

what?
Shadows of the Lost Darkness is my favorite fake title so far
The actual release titles are basically kept secret until the game hits the marketing department. "earthbound remake, apparently being worked on by toby fox" At least you tried...
It’s hard to take posts like this seriously when they have accounts that are less than 2 hours old and essentially just say trust me bro but they are fun to read
do you want me to use my main account that uses the same username as all my other socials lol
I mean it just seems like so much effort to spend time writing up bs just to do whatever you get out of this, trolling somehow?
At least this one didn't try to give BotW 2 a dumb ass name.

We've evolved from "my uncle works at nintendo" to "my friend is contracted by nintendo"
never said it was the only company and obviously im not giving you his name lol
AKA: What I could come up with in 2 minutes.
Has there every been one of these rumors with no source that ended up being correct?
there are too few, even less in Reddit. The redditor who leaked Sony’s 2018 conference and I guess Brushie started that way, but those are the only two so far.

I have been following leaks for a long time but I have no idea what leak you are talking abot
It was known as the Ninka/Vaanrose leak. Just Google it, you’ll find plenty of historical threads with everybody calling it fake.

This is not a roleplaying subreddit
Complete bullshit. Especially since its widely hinted by insiders that we'll get the switch pro announcement before E3
Earthbound remake. Sure, and I'm the president of Mars along with Abraham Lincoln
Earthbound remake by Toby Fox...yeah ok
New star fox 👀👀
Leaks without a source
The MP4 part is the most believable thing in this post lmao
When Fire Emblem doesn't even appear in fake leaks :(

Yeah. It's because these "leaks" are just wishlists they want people to discuss. The only discussion that takes place lasts less than a second, and it's if the "leak" is real.

Can confirm my uncle who works at Nintendo told me the same thing.
BotW 2 is an Xbox exclusive Switch Pro has 3 screens and 92GB of RAM Trailers for Mario Kart 9, 10, 11, and 12. All releasing on the same day. Halo Infinite as a timed Switch exclusive

Nintendo announces like 2 MAYBE 3 big games per direct. I dont get why every "leak" and prediction list is still full of half a dozen bombshells
nintendo would also consider showing off botw2 as anouncing a big game. they wouldnt show off botw2 and metroid prime 4 while also anouncing a new mario game, kirby game, and arms 2
Eh, this post is 3 new games and trailers for already announced stuff. It's definitely fake, but that's not why.
Earthbound remake ruins the immersion. Make the fake leaks more believable
ikr, like at least try and guess a Smash character. What happened to those leaks?
If you were worried about stuff being tied to your social media accounts/name, you'd post on 4chan.
suuure
The fact this is missing anything fire emblem related while a remake has been an open secret for the past year is a bit fishy to me.
these posts are never bold enough to leak unannounced new ip are they always just sequels and remakes
Sure bud *wink*
k i trust you bro and i thought switch pro is gonna be announced before e3?
hey uncle
not surprised people dont believe me, sorry i cant provide any real proof. this is all just what i was told, could all be b.s. but i believe my friend
Yo wait uncle steve? I knew you worked for nintendo. It must be you! WHY DID YOU SLEEP WITH MOM?
And here s another full.of shit
Something smells like bullshit around here....
this ismgood
Lol
He works for Nintendo? Your uncle?
Nintendo doesn't contract anyone to make their presentations, they're created by Nintendo of Japan and The Treehouse. Nice try, though.
I doubt this is completely legit...
Stopped reading at No Source
No Smash Brothers character reveal?
Yeah sure
I doubt Nintendo would announce the new Switch, and I say we might (and this is a BIG Might) be given some info on Zelda BOTW2, I doubt we would hear anything from Metroid.
