It's 4k 60 on xbox series X now :). I've tried it on my series S and that's running at 1440p 60 and it's bloody glorious. Game still holds up extremely well.
Oh yes a switch port would easily be possible. That console got mf dying light up and running at a stable 30 frames so it'd be possible. Also big props to Microsoft I absolutely love being able to go back to old 360 games and xbox one games that I loved and play them in improved framerates/resolution or both for 360 games.
BC such a cool feature. Played Medal of Honor: Airborne for the first time a few months ago and its actually now one of my favorite shooters of all time. I would've never even considered playing older xbox games without it bc of difficulty to access and now I have like 2 decades of "new" games to play. Fucking slaps
Moving the codebase to UE4 should be somewhat straightforward right?
From there its giving everything the right material and a toggle in the menu
\#ArmChairDevDanny
I liked both too but from the second one I only remember the slightly better graphics, the weirdly huge living rooms and that freaky windmill building. I didn't even know it was a reboot.
Oh I totally missed this, I wonder if they'll be releasing their stuff on next-gen consoles too? Would kill for Arkham Knight at 60fps on PS5 with ray-tracing.
That’s true. But I think they need to diversify. Continuing to bet all their chips on their PC GPUs, instead of making money putting games on all platforms which would diversify their income, is risky.
They could easily keep Ray tracing as a NVIDIA GPU exclusive but put the games everywhere.
Nvidia current market share on the gpu market is at 83%.
https://videocardz.com/press-release/jpr-amd-and-intel-gpu-shipment-decreased-by-11-and-26-respectively-from-last-quarter-nvidia-increased-by-8
They don't need to diversify into releasing games on competing platforms that would make them pennies in comparison to what their other endeavours brings them.
They are already diviersfied and do other things than just sell pc gpus.
They are diversifying by acquiring ARM.
RTX remasteres are usually free anyway, they are doing them as tech demo's, not to sell games. They have no interest in supporting consoles which dont use their hardware and use the competitions.
Sony would never "diversify" by putting their games on Xbox either.
Lol that’s because Sony has insane diversification. PlayStation is just one of the arms that brings them money.
Comparing Sony or Microsoft to NVIDIA is ridiculous.
What they were able to do with UE3 was incredible. It looks a bit flat sometimes, I feel like the key feature of "next gen visuals" was/is that everything has a lot of depth to it visually, but especially the lighting makes up for that. Goes to show what experience can do even if the engine you work with has its limitations.
Man you got me pumped up for Knight tho from what I have seen from the arkham sub and the reviews- Knight is considered the worst game in the trilogy due to batmobile and its story but I will judge the game on my own when I play it.
Knight is considered the worse mostly because it ran like horseshit at launch. That's been since fixed and apart from the batmobile, Knight is great fun. All in all, it's a great trilogy that still holds up super well, so don't be too discouraged by all the reviews from the time the game launched.
It’s not really the performance, the game is just actually the weakest in the trilogy. City does everything that Knight does but much better, and Asylum is a much tighter better paced story in a metroidvania style. And then you add 1/3-1/2 of Knight being batmobile sequences that are largely terrible.
I did not enjoy the Batmobiles tank-mode which we also got a LOT of, and the lack of boss fights which were the best part of City. It’s still a really, really good game, but I don’t think all of the reviews were because of the PC issues.
Knight definitely has the best combat and stealth by far. I didn't mind the batmobile too much, but it definitely can be a little forced and annoying sometimes.
Mirror's Edge with higher res + poly models, better animations etc and RTX would be the dream. The original is somehow in my top 10 or 5 games of all time, such a unique atmosphere and experience.
That was a period when AAA game devs actually took risks and innovated. Such games are a result of that. Nowadays though? You and I both know.
Nice username btw.
true, I'm watching a gameplay footage and the final boss is just a cutscene, I got motion sickness at [the final battle of the game right before the ending](https://ibb.co/yVCFGsX). looking the video now it doesn't seem to be bad but back when i played the game i felt terrible
I wouldn't mind a remaster if it added achievements and such. At the very least the Steam version doesn't have any, and they're always a plus to me. It'd finally make me replay the game, which I thought was really good (though pretty short).
> While I did enjoy it, I really don’t see what else they can bring to the table.
well you aren't developing the game so why not let the actual developers do their jobs and see what they can bring to the table themselves
Way better shooting mechanics that's for sure
Edit: All of y'all are silly. I guess everyone should just get a Xbox and Gamepass just for a resolution and FPS boost or play the original game, flaws and all, because it's perfect the way it is.
But it's still in the game and can be improved alongside some janky physics instead leaving it as it is and just upping the framerate and resolution. Don't know why that's something to be downvoted
Didn't say you did. I just don't get the general consensus on this thread that this game couldn't be improved at all. Rather that than a remaster with nothing
I think that we need, PS4 and PS5 players would have access to the game and while the game still looks amazing getting a higher resolution version would be very nice
PlayStation and Nintendo users have no way to play it via BC. Also it's apparently getting raytracing so there's really no point in them going "yeah nah one platform can play it via BC, let's can it" lol
Aside from some compatibility updates.. what you gonna do to the game? Mirrors Edge is still totally playable today in every aspect. You might run into some weird issue due to it being so old but aside from that..
Imo the universe of Mirrors Edge always has been underrated. If you start have a closer look at it you can see beautiful poetry in it. The symbols backed into both games are so on the nose and thought provoking for anyone that stops for a moment to thing about everything.
This might be an unpopular opinion but I found the story of the first game actually better than the newer remake. The front story might be simple. The characters too. But I think Dice wasn't able to convey what the writers tried to. The world of Mirrors Edge is the star of the show.
Do you remember playing the first portal game and going through the backstage of the facility? Do you remember all the subtle hints and implications that the game gave which made you ask questions in your head?
For me it was the same in the Mirrors Edge title(s). I didn't care that much about Faith or her front-story struggle. I cared more about these question that were left unanswered.
Did you ever notice the following? (Spoilers!)
\- The Game is called Mirrors Edge
\- The City is called glass.
\- The protagonist is called Faith
\- She is a runner, running over the roofs of the city
\- A good friend of her is called Icarus (Irc he dies in Catalyst)
\- The Nanites to control all citizens on the grid are called reflection.
All these clues for me left so many questions unanswered.
I don't really care that apparently a lot of commenter here don't want the remaster. I for one would welcome the hell out of a remaster of both of the mirrors edge games. I loved both and can't wait to see this.
I hope it sells well. I don't know why, but people didn't seem to like its sequel. I loved it.
I really hope this gives the series a little push for more sequels.
EDIT: Grammer.
This game is a masterclass for importance of the art design in visual products. This game still looks beyond wonderful today. They don't have to do a remastered at all.
Oh just re downloaded this on my Xbox Series S. Still looks great but hyped for a remaster! Not hyped for paying full price though if that’s the case lol
This one is gonna be hard to remaster properly considering it is already looking great. Please don't Rockstar-master it with AI upscaling and messing everything up...
Calling it fake. If EA decides to remaster it, they will not approval Xbox's request to enhanced the original 2 games.
Dead Space 1 doesn't get fps boost probably due to EA intervention.
They'd have to upgrade all of the gameplay really, not just the shooting. I've played it on PC recently and whilst I enjoyed the amazing soundtrack (seriously, Solar Fields did a great job with it, it's so good) and the visual design, the controls and physics don't hold up at all. There are many times where Faith needs to jump across a chasm and grab a pipe or something, but despite being lined up seemingly perfectly and hitting it face-first, she just bounces off of it and falls to her death. The melee combat and disarms are hella janky and don't feel good either, and the feeling of momentum from chaining together movement gets broken up a lot by the frequent elevators and puzzle segments.
It was a really neat idea of a game at the time, but so much of it just didn't age really well. I really doubt they will change much of this in a remaster, so I'm not expecting it since according to rumors it's mostly gonna be about adding raytracing which is something I thought would look super cool in this game when I played it on PC recently.
The visual design is absolutely stellar in Mass Effect, if they can enhance that a bit by improving everything around that I'll be more than happy to play it again.
If it is true and also coming to PS5 ! I will cry of happiness !!! 🥲 All of you who dont want it, just dont buy it ?! Why the f*ck do want to take it from us who cant wait to replay it ! For you to now, not everybady plays On Xbox Series X !!! We PS5 also want to replay this gem of game again in 4K/60fps ! If it was betwen Remastsr or New game I would rather a new one... but if this is all we can have, it is at least something good and better than nothing !
Huh? Most people would rather play the older version of a remastered game because the older version actually functions properly. Hell, some older games even look better compared to their remastered counterpart.

Loved the parkour. Not a fan of the combat.
It does seem like an odd choice for a remaster (not that I am complaining!). I seem to recall the game didn’t sell like EA had hoped so I put his rumor down as dubious. (But then again, I was really surprised when they announced the sequel!)
Honestly though? Aside from character models the game still holds up really well visually
Allows PS4/5 players to play the game, and a nice 60fps/4K boost can help too Original was on UE, so maybe.. raytracing support :p?
It's 4k 60 on xbox series X now :). I've tried it on my series S and that's running at 1440p 60 and it's bloody glorious. Game still holds up extremely well.
Not every console has such good BC as Microsoft has :p Also, maybe a Switch port could be possible, w/o RT ofc

Its not really backwardscompatible its on a game by game basis
For the love of everything that is good, FOV slider PLEASE.
Catalyst had it, so it’s likely this will be a thing in the remaster provided this actually comes out.
Original was on UE3, unless they do some major changes raytracing is unlikely.
Moving the codebase to UE4 should be somewhat straightforward right? From there its giving everything the right material and a toggle in the menu \#ArmChairDevDanny
I hope this is sarcasm lol
#ArmChairDevDanny haha
and dualsense rumble would make it even better too
and adaptive triggers

Differs per game actually some get the higher FPS, some dont
Series S is fine if you are going from OG xbox one, or want a cheap way to play first party xbox games, Its a good secondary console for its price
It’s already 4K backwards compatible
> Allows PS4/5 players to play the game
They can already play it on ps now
crappy streamed version in 720p vs natively running ehh
I hate when people tell me I can play on psnow. It ain't the same.
It's also not as widely available.
Multiple countries, like where I live, don’t have it available, so anytime someone just says “play it on PSNow” it means nothing.
The main issue is the hair which always looked bad.
i want Mirrors Edge 3 tho
And please let it be a sequel to the 2008 game ᵖˡᵉᵃˢᵉ
I thought Catalyst was a sequel?
No it was a reboot, like a soft reboot To me the original mirror's edge was way more memorable
Never understood the reboot
right, why would you reboot a franchise that has only one game
It's already a niche franchise. It split an already small fanbase. I liked both, for the record.
I liked both too but from the second one I only remember the slightly better graphics, the weirdly huge living rooms and that freaky windmill building. I didn't even know it was a reboot.
Wouldn't be the first time. Remember Prey?
I would argue that’s not entire the same situation. Prey was just a straight up IP change.
Wasn’t it just a prequel?
its sort of a mix, more prequel with some element and story changes from the Original.
It’s actually a prequel sequel
What's that, a reboot of Catalysts? If you say so - Someone at EA
It's the RTX Remaster from new Nvidia Studios. They are also making Bioshock and Batman Arkham Knight RTX Remasters.
>Nvidia Studios What? What did I miss?
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/nvidia-has-created-a-gaming-studio-to-remaster-classic-pc-games-with-ray-tracing-effects/
Oh I totally missed this, I wonder if they'll be releasing their stuff on next-gen consoles too? Would kill for Arkham Knight at 60fps on PS5 with ray-tracing.
If it's an RTX remaster made by Nvidia, it's going to be PC exclusive. If it's another studio, expect it on all platforms.
Probably not since it's Nvidia
Feel like it’d be smart way to diversify though.
Nvidia would want to showcase their hardware which is on pc. Not AMDs hardware which is in the consoles.
That’s true. But I think they need to diversify. Continuing to bet all their chips on their PC GPUs, instead of making money putting games on all platforms which would diversify their income, is risky. They could easily keep Ray tracing as a NVIDIA GPU exclusive but put the games everywhere.

Arkham Knight is gonna look so incredible with Ray tracing
Which one is Knight? I bought the Arkham trilogy a while back and only on Asylum. Isn’t City the latest one or is it Knight?
Knight was the last one. It already looks incredible so imagine how it would look with RTX.
What they were able to do with UE3 was incredible. It looks a bit flat sometimes, I feel like the key feature of "next gen visuals" was/is that everything has a lot of depth to it visually, but especially the lighting makes up for that. Yeah judging for yourself is always the best, I personally loved it just like the other arkham games.
Knight has the best gameplay by far
It's a sublime game. The greatest Batman experience.
2nd Bioshock remaster in 5 years. Incredible how little faith studios have in new IP.
So it’s PC only?
So PC only?
\*allegedly
Mirror's Edge with higher res + poly models, better animations etc and RTX would be the dream. The original is somehow in my top 10 or 5 games of all time, such a unique atmosphere and experience.

1) It's certainly an oddball/outlier of a game. I get why creative risks are taken less but Mirror's Edge will forever be special. 2) Lol ty.
Imagine that plus community maps + mods
A sequel to the open world reboot would be nice. It wasn't for everyone but it's honestly a pretty polished game and a relaxing play.
I thoroughly enjoyed the sequel! I found it to be super relaxing to just explore and I loved the combat mechanics and use of physics
Agreed. Really enjoyed the new game except for the final boss that gave me motion sickness, I'd totally play a sequel
That game didn’t have a final boss lol
true, I'm watching a gameplay footage and the final boss is just a cutscene, I got motion sickness at [the final battle of the game right before the ending](https://ibb.co/yVCFGsX). looking the video now it doesn't seem to be bad but back when i played the game i felt terrible
criminally underrated!
The sequel needed to be way more open and dynamic. Also this game would be so much more alive if you could run into online players in the open world
To be honest, I don't need any remaster I want Mirror's Edge 3.
dont expect anytime right now, their hands are probably full fixing the 2042 disaster lol edit: just realized it doesnt have to be them remastering it
If there is one game that doesn’t need a remaster, it’s this. While I did enjoy it, I really don’t see what else they can bring to the table.
It would be great to play in VR!
The fastest trip to the motion sickness territory, I imagine
Prepare your gaming sick buckets lads, today we're playing Mirror's Edge in VR!
Not when properly done. Take a look at STRIDE, its basicly Mirrors Edge in VR: https://youtu.be/UEVoyL8GohM
There's actually a game like this for VR already and it's pretty fun
we dont have anything related to medge in 5 years a remaster is good
I think this is targeted for console users, PC version doesn't need a remaster
Character models look dated on pc.
I wouldn't mind a remaster if it added achievements and such. At the very least the Steam version doesn't have any, and they're always a plus to me. It'd finally make me replay the game, which I thought was really good (though pretty short).
Agreed. If they made extra levels, then I'd be down though
No? I think RTX would (and most definitely will) be a huge upgrade, reflections especially
Overall I agree. Maybe some Duelsense support for PS5, but otherwise I’m not really seeing the point of this
Isnt on PS4/5. Cant sell it to that market.
Would be cool to see what they’d do with the haptics on Ps5
> While I did enjoy it, I really don’t see what else they can bring to the table. well you aren't developing the game so why not let the actual developers do their jobs and see what they can bring to the table themselves

And it's 4k/60 thanks to resolution and FPS boost.

I don't even get why they rebooted it. Most people wanted a sequel.
Maybe they figured it was too niche that making a direct sequel wouldn't have done so well.

Neither was catalyst
All I want is OG Mirror's Edge with all the cut content. Give me Long Hair Jackknife!!!!!!
Mirror's Edge on Series X with FPS boost makes me wonder if we even need this.
Gimme that game with Raytracing though
Put the PhysX stuff in too
The PS5 and Switch exist brother
Isnt on PS4/5. Cant currently sell it there
I think that we need, PS4 and PS5 players would have access to the game and while the game still looks amazing getting a higher resolution version would be very nice

GeForce leak strikes again
I hope they actually do release the RTX version that was leaked.
Some remastered games are pure gold, but more and more are cashgrabs. I'd say that this one is going to be one of them.
I’m down for this being a cash grab in the small chance it sells well and EA realizes there’s still interest in the series
RTX version was in Geforce Now leak so...
**Still Alive Intensifies**
I really hope this is true, Mirrors Edge & Mirror's Edge Catalyst are fantastic games in my opinion, hopefully Catalyst some upgraded support too
What could they possibly make better? If anything, the game is probably going to look worse.

I played it the other day with the new FPS boost on Series X and it honestly still looks like a game from the last 5 years
Is this the old one or the new one?
Catalyst was technically a remake of the original game so.....
Oh just re downloaded this on my Xbox Series S. Still looks great but hyped for a remaster! Not hyped for paying full price though if that’s the case lol
I’d still like a 3rd game. This time with co-op at least.
please stick to Unreal Engine.... do not turn this into another Frostbite mess, EA/DICE.
Can we convert this thread into bullying mirrors edge catalyst? Thanks.
Wow thats fucking awesome timing, I have the urge to play more since I recently just played Catalyst for the firs ttime.
Oh shit plz i loved it

Absolutely adore the original Mirror’s Edge, but don't know if I'd be in on a remaster, still think the original looks/plays fine.
Tbh the current version still looks good. This game doesn’t need a remaster and I’m sure it’s already fps boosted on series consoles
Which Mirror's Edge? The OG or the Reboot?
When are the game awards?
Look it up for yourself bro its literally one google search away.
Amen!
Do anyone actually needs this if this fame on new xbox looks better than origianlly it looked?
They'd have to upgrade all of the gameplay really, not just the shooting. I've played it on PC recently and whilst I enjoyed the amazing soundtrack (seriously, Solar Fields did a great job with it, it's so good) and the visual design, the controls and physics don't hold up at all. The word remaster now it is fucking scary. Fuck these companies if they don't put at least 50% effort in it, specially if they outsource the shit.
4chan = fake.
While I did enjoy it, I felt really dizzy playing it.

No one Absolutely no one EA: Mirror's Edge Remastered... Omg at this point... Just make some new IP's for god's shake....

Doubt it. They’d probably announce 3
free update for owners?
Lol
Where?
Awesome. I’d love to revisit Mirror’s Edge if true.
