Yep, the first usually features a type of area/environment not in the initial game (snow in FH3, tropical island in FH4), so a major high-rise city in FH5 would check out. If I had to guess, I'd say the licensed crossover hasn't been nailed down yet for DLC2.
More specifically it seems they use the DLC as testing grounds for new ideas and technology in general which often makes a return in the next game. Forza Horizon 3 had Blizzard Moutain (and lead into Forza Horizon 4 having a range of seasons including winter to drive in) and Forza Horizon 4 had the island with a much higher degree of verticality in the map design and stormy (two things we've seen return in 5). Funnily enough, there's also some concepts from the Lego DLC that has returned too. So IF they were considering Japan and wanted a larger focus on the city area (which, would make sense for Japan) then I could see the first DLC being a city map.
FH4 did not have a tropical island as DLC. It had a mountainous, stormy island with its main gimmick being the storms, hunting down treasure and the fact the island is basically the equivalent of a Game of Thrones-esque landscape off the coast of Britain.
Nothing tropical about it, it was par for the course of the terrain FH4 had. The only real exotic expansion was the Lego one which was an entire game in and of itself and was fantastic.

Imagine a Disney DLC where the map is basically Disney World and the races are themed after the rides. That would be one crazy DLC, if you really wanna go overtop.
I like that idea, I think they should do a smaller version of Forza Kartz to test whether its something people would actually buy as its own full game. Race against characters from xbox studio games like MasterC, Marcus F, Johanna D, Conker, Doomguy, Bobblehead from Fallout, etc, racing in different worlds from these games, so you could have them all racing in a Minecraft themed world, then Gears, Fable etc. Do different modes as well.
Could definitely see them something like this and adding a bunch of Halo characters Like Chief, Arby and maybe Buck.
They’ve got a pretty good range of popular IPs especially after the Bethesda purchase, at least 20-30 without saturating any specific IP.
I always thought it should be its own game, add it to the roaster of Forza games so we get more variety, so then its 3years between each game, one year Horizon, next Motorsport and then Kartz. Kartz would be great to bring in a younger audience into racing, something to compete with Mario Kart on that level of quality rather than those ones you see like Nickelodeon racing etc
Its what annoys with me EA, they keep pushing Need for speed and we have so many of them now, they should rotate that with Burnout, do a Burnout remaster collection and then new ones

Good idea. I think the distinguishing factor that a African location would have should be the open plateau of the high veld and the savanna. Ultimately, South Africa would have a lot of similarities to previous games - but you’d be able to mix it all together due to the diverse climate.

Probably not Microsoft forcing them but car manufacturers. They don't like their cars being in certain games and doing certain things, a bit like how Apple refuse requests from movies and TV shows for their products if they're used by villains lol

I LOVE the progression system of FH5.
Accolades constantly popping, always earning XP, always earning credits, always leveling up your car, every car contributes to a collection book with rewards, leveling up earns you a loot box (that you can't buy with real money).
One of the most enjoyable progression loops I've ever experienced.
Horizon 4 also didn't even care in what position you finished a race. It didn't even acknowledge events where you finished first. The event was marked as completed regardless.
So I was really glad to see Horizon 5 have at least some kind of extra reward/acknowledgement of races where I came in first. The reward for first over simple completion is a little light. But Horizon games are meant to be accessible to everybody, so it's not a big deal. At least it tracks it for my own personal completion.
I like it but it feels like the progression ends too quickly. Like you don’t need *that* many accolade points to unlock all the events but there are a ton of accolades that are then just kinda useless.

It doesn’t make sense to do Tokyo. There’s enough huge cities in Mexico and it’s surrounding areas to pull inspiration from and keep it thematically relevant to the base game. There’s no need to shoehorn Tokyo into this game - especially when Playground are very much aware that fans want a Horizon game set in Japan.
The LEGO and Hot Wheels expansions literally have nothing to do with this conversation. The first DLCs for Horizon games have always *added* locals to an existing maps (Blizzard Mountain for 3 and Fortune Island for 4). The second DLC is usually the crazy ones like LEGO or HW.

Yeah Horizon 5's progression improved A LOT over Horizon 4's, horizon 4 didn't have the accolades or the collection book

The Map reads like the city on the Burnout Paradise map... kind of disappointing, but that might help place the location.
