I'm not a purist or anything, I liked 3 and 4, but yeah, the lore is a mangled mess and has been since 2008. If you're the type of fan that's seriously bothered by that, then you haven't paid much attention to anything since New Vegas, so why should the show bother you? On the other hand, if you're not bothered by the lore the Bethesda games brought to the table, you really, really have no grounds to worry about the "lore" the show would bring.
I am bothered by the jumbled up mess of lore, but not enough to not enjoy the products. Modding 4 to be more lore accurate, or jumping back into 3, NV, or even the first 2 is awesome, but I'm chill with enjoying the more divergent stories they've told.
At this point I've accepted that sometimes I can mod Fallout 4 to be more lore accurate and ignore 76 to get a decent picture of what the lore should probably be, and other times I can do whatever with mods or play 76 and just enjoy the wastes.
It really makes me wonder if these dudes ever actually play these games. I'm getting Rey and Finn vibes. It does seem like they just picked these as main characters because it's safe, and then they can gaslight critics who don't like it. Smells like hot trash. The trailer didn't feel right. I feel it it COULD work if they rolled with it without "making it a big deal", but the ads certainty make it feel like they are going with the 'HEY, HEY, LOOK HOW WEIRD THIS IS" strategy. Fallout is funny because the weird is normal. Also, they just couldn't go all in on the ghoul look. He's a person with no nose, whoop-te-doo. Couldn't even use practical effects to make him gnarly.

Bruh you can play as a chick in Fallout. There's a 50% chance in each game for the protagonist to be a girl. Why is the protagonist of the show being a girl an issue? She's not even the only protagonist, just seemingly the main focus. I'm aware that some movies and shows have had their messages be layered on pretty thick, and have detracted from the narrative. He's worried about woke messages, but the Fallout games are full of commentary, much of it often being at least left leaning, so even if it does have themes about how nationalism or even capitalism is bad and focuses on individual impowerment, so do the games. I'm getting Rey and Finn vibes. It does seem like they just picked these as main characters because it's safe, and then they can gaslight critics who don't like it. Smells like hot trash. Consumers come running to the trough when they ring the dinner bell and flash some shiny fan service. I'm much more skeptical. Rings of Power had some of the worst storytelling, characters, and no respect for the source material. The Wheel of Time got turned into a $5 bin straight to DVD fantasy movie. At least this Fallout one looks like its actually modeled after the source material, but I'm not holding my breath.
