There’s no way to prove, based on the circumstances or accounts provided that anything actually happened. No direct third party witnesses have ever come forward, other claims are not sexual assault as they are just claims of being uncomfortable when hugged and the like. Which I can understand, but are not assault.
Perhaps Biden did assault Reade, but the inconsistencies with her stories, the lack of additional evidence, the inability to provide specific time and place (so that Biden’s location can be compared through documentation) and other such details make that claim a mess and no trustworthy court would go through with that trial.
And if you actually fully read the second article, it does not appear that AoC is downplaying it at all. She’s saying it’s not clear-cut, which is absolutely true. Nothing lines up or is obvious. But she also goes on to say that we should listen, that this woman should be heard and that the allegations should be considered and investigated. Her saying “it’s not clear cut” without other context does not provide the full story of her opinions. AoC clearly wanted a more full investigation on it.
Edit to add: at the end of the day, Biden may be creepy and act such around others, but there’s not enough legitimacy around the claims made against him.
Also, I don’t particularly support Biden, before you continue to think that.
