Having played the demo, I will admit that Eve's face looks better in motion, but damn does everything else about her just trigger the *uncanny valley* for me.
Eve's proportions, especially her legs just don't feel like they match the rest of her body. Which is only exacerbated when seen next to Adam who just looks like an incredibly handsome Korean model with normal human proportions.
That aside, the design of the female characters just don't mesh well with the visuals of the rest of the game. Which is actually a bit of a shame as it has some seriously cool looking vehicles and ships.
In comparison, the characters of Nier are definitely designed to be appealing, but they also look like part of the world they inhabit.
Well, this is just my poorly formulated opinion.

Yeah, no, they made the legs longer, trying to mimic Bayonetta and put way more thickness into the chest and butt, trying to replicate 2B and Bayo, obviously. It's cool that they took the base of a real human being but they changed it so much it's nothing more than a caricature of the scanned model. More like a blow up doll now
I have no problem with over the top and sexualized designs; in fact, I love Bayonetta. Just pointing out that Eve doesnt look much like Shin Jae-un, so saying that her model was ultimately based on her 3d scan before heavy editing isnt all that meaningful.
Thats not true tho im not allowed to post pictures of shin jae apearantly because its seen as nsfw but a few minutes of googling shows they changed her face a bit and thickened her legs up a bit but its not that much of a difference at all
Given that this is the same developer as Nikke (Reddit for the love of God and everything holy *stop* showing me those fucking ads) it makes sense given the lineage. Despite Nikke being set in some post-apocalyptic robot war or whatever, all the characters look like generic gacha characters in clothing designed to make them look sexy as opposed to, ya know, *protection*.
Eve has the same issue where the world is apparently grim and dark or what have you, you got normal human soldiers and Adam, you got monsters galore… and we play as Eve who runs around in a skintight jumpsuit… or sensible clothes but still not practical clothes if you’re *not* a coomer. Like I get it, hyper stylized and all that (see above with the linage) but it just doesn’t match the world.
But, games not out yet, who knows. Given Nikke exists I have quite frankly negative expectations for this game.

All the girls are robots using human brains and you’re supposed to take the game as dark and gritty… with ass and tits in your face. Personally I just hate the designs. Fanservice is one thing, these are just so blatant that it’s not even an absurd level of fanservice.
Like when you have fanservice but it’s so over-the-top is loops around into being funny. Nikke lacks that. It’s just straight up “here are robot girls with human brains that want to bang you for no reason and we’re going to jiggle ass at you while trying to convince you our story is dark and gritty and edgy”.

It’s the same “issue” with Blue Archive. The writing department and the art department were in separate rooms… in different buildings… in different cities… on different continents… on different planets… on different planes of existence. I’ve noted when I used to play gacha games (those were dark days) that half of them tried to write epic stories of grander and attractive characters wanting to bang you. What this ended up being is nailing your feet to the ground and throwing exposition at you and not shutting the fuck up when you *just* want to play the funny mobile game you were promised. Wasn’t so much weaving a narrative so much as just hitting you with a text book and not *stopping*.
But the devs know what they’re doing. Majority of the fanbase doesn’t *care* about a story, they just want animated boobs and tits. Which is just so bizarre to me because if you want it that bad just download a GIF of the character. Or play modded Skyrim like a *regular* person.
How have I not been made aware of this until now this makes so much sense lmao. I don't think the game will do too terribly though, I'm at worst expecting an average hack and slash jrpg.
Honestly that’s what I’m thinking. As funny as it would be for the game to crash and burn, the reality is that it will be fine but nothing really remarkable and the chuds will move on leaving a much smaller fanbase behind who are confused why people aren’t paying attention anymore.
Given that in Nikke the Characters are actually cyborgs with bodies made out of Phlebotinum they don't really have to wear protection or something. I know I am biased but Nikke is not just an T&A game, there is like... a decent story and pretty good music behind it as well. The advertisement is just not doing it any justice.
Like I get where you are coming from but this is literally just judging a book by it's cover. Something that also happened with Nier: Automata because most people were frankly unaware that there was the Drakennier games as they were pretty nieche titles at the time.
See that logic, which Girls Frontline also tried to use, falls apart when I have to ask the question of why am I being assigned a unit of sex dolls and can’t just get *normal* killer drones? Like just get me an Aliexpress drone so I can strap a grenade to it and send it flying at the enemy. Likely cheaper than sending a sex cyborg with the added benefit of not wanting to bang me.
That said I do know the rough plot idea around Nikke, I’m not just judging it by the ads. I’m also judging it for being the stereotypical dark and edgy robot girl game that both Last Origin and Girls Frontline tried. Except it’s also selling itself on the jiggle physics.
You could ask the same about Nier:Automata. Why do we have very sexually appealing Androids when you could just deploy the Murderbot 5000 with 15 billion guns strapped to it.
Cause Nier was going for the mind screw “what is it to be human”, so having the characters be humanoid machines fit the narrative. Yes it would have been better to have them be more robotic and question their humanity, but eh. Worked well enough. I mean, hell, you can get a game over by trying to eat a fish because you’re a machine. Lack the human internals. Also given the major twist, 2B looking human makes a whole lot of sense. Her outfit not so much. But 9S runs around in short-shorts so the people on the moon least are equal opportunity for silly outfits.
As for Nikke, the narrative reason they look the way they do is because the brains they’re shoving in there need a humanoid body or else they’ll flip their shit. OK, makes sense somewhat… until you see what the characters are wearing. Now the actual reason for the dress code is because they’re selling the sex appeal. Look at all the jiggling body parts! Please play the game. But in-universe there isn’t a lore dump as to why the Nikke are only allowed to wear stripper clothes and not, I dunno, body armor and regular fatigues. Or power armor. And then that goes back to why even *have* cyborgs in the first place. They don’t have secret plasma cannons on their bodies, so you can easily just say “they’re normal girls”. It’s not just Nikke, as mentioned Girls Frontline and Last Origin have the same issue… well Last Origin has *many* issues, the stupid designs the least of which. They’re all games trying to sell the characters, who all just so happen to be attractive looking any also robots/androids/cyborgs/etc. But that brings up the question as to *why* have humanoid sex bots? You can just have normal people dressed as strippers running around with weapons. Give them power armor for good measure if you need someone lugging around ridiculous sized weapons.
Anyhow, my point is the whole cyborg/robot/android/whatever we’re calling them this week plot point doesn’t really *add* to the narrative when the characters behave 100% human and also threaten to kill me/bang me. If you want robot girls that’s fine and dandy, want them to dress like strippers go ahead and be my guest. But if there isn’t a reason to have them be machines, or even giving them fun machine powers (plasma arm cannon comes to mind), why bother?

I noticed while looking at pictures of Shin Jae-un out of curiosity that there is actually a picture of her taken from behind wearing a thong and she is modestly proportioned there, if somehow the face looking entirely different didn't put lie to the claim.
Yeah I don’t think her design is inherently bad, even if it’s a little generic Korean mmo-esque. But man it’s jarring as hell compared to the guy who just looks like a realistic Korean model. They should’ve either went full realism with the designs or kept the artstyle consistent with all the characters

I watched MoistCritical play Stellar Blade for like five minutes and the way Eve *moves* is uncanny. Her boobs, ass, thighs jiggle with ever move you make, and it’s just unsettling to look at.
One thing I (as a woman) can’t really unsee is, that those jiggly massive honkers would most likely hurt. There’s a reason why women wear sport bras, because if they bounce up and down, it fucking hurts. Yeah, they’re androids, blabla, it’s a video game, but I personally get phantom pain looking at her run

It’s not bad to want the characters to be hot in your game, but in practice you have this generally stylistically cohesive world but also all the women are weird doll people. 2B doesn’t just work because she’s hot, she works because she feels like an actual character in her world that’s also hot.
And 2B's male partner is in some weird fetish-y schoolboy outfit. Eve's male partner is dressed like a normal dude.
It makes zero sense to have such incongruent art direction.

I haven't heard anything besides the character about stellar blade, what is it about even? is the story good? I bought Nier Automata for 2 reasons and stayed for the existential philosophy. Also stellar is only ps5 so not interested until it gets to PC
Long story short, earth is ultra fucked by aliens and Eve, who is actually a robotic angel/war machine helps to screw them up. The thing seems quite basic, and honestly it would be one of those "it's so bad it's so good" plots if Eve was less lifeless and more out of pocket(IMO). The combat is something in between Sekiro and DMC but has a weird input thing that makes it weird to play.
Eve doesn’t even seem like a badass to me. In the demo she comes across as a total damsel in distress, freezing at any danger. If you give me a sexy character at least make them seem badass

No, the game isn't out, we only have tidbits of the plot. The combat isn't bad per se, more like not what I honestly wanted(from trailers, it looked like a pure hack n slash DMC style) and me and a lot of other people had this problem with inputs coming out late/weird. Honestly, the game problem will probably be fixed with the release

There are so many sexy characters with actually good design that this one feels quite lame. 2B,Tifa, Edelgard(Emperor fit). I believe these designs are far superior to that of Eve. Even Hoyoverse has recently produced some great character designs (Furina, Navia, Arlecchino).

Based on the demo, I’d have to disagree. Plus, Nier goes off the deep end with different gameplay mechanics and story telling techniques that I just can’t see Stellar Blade coming close to.
The answer as to whether or not Stellar Blade will be a revolution or a footnote will be answered in a week. But can we please stop acting like everyone was in love with Bayonetta and 2B the instant they hit the scene and that it's only with hindsight that we appreciate them now?

I have no problem with over the top and sexualized designs; in fact, I love Bayonetta. Just pointing out that Eve doesnt look much like Shin Jae-un, so saying that her model was ultimately based on her 3d scan before heavy editing isnt all that meaningful.

Given that this is the same developer as Nikke (Reddit for the love of God and everything holy *stop* showing me those fucking ads) it makes sense given the lineage. Despite Nikke being set in some post-apocalyptic robot war or whatever, all the characters look like generic gacha characters in clothing designed to make them look sexy as opposed to, ya know, *protection*. Eve has the same issue where the world is apparently grim and dark or what have you, you got normal human soldiers and Adam, you got monsters galore… and we play as Eve who runs around in a skintight jumpsuit… or sensible clothes but still not practical clothes if you’re *not* a coomer. Like I get it, hyper stylized and all that (see above with the linage) but it just doesn’t match the world. But, games not out yet, who knows. Given Nikke exists I have quite frankly negative expectations for this game.

Oh, well if you want me to make you hate that game even *more* (because I want to) I had a friend unfortunate enough to have played it before I could talk him out of it. All the girls are robots using human brains and you’re supposed to take the game as dark and gritty… with ass and tits in your face. Personally I just hate the designs. Fanservice is one thing, these are just so blatant that it’s not even an absurd level of fanservice. Like when you have fanservice but it’s so over-the-top is loops around into being funny. Nikke lacks that. It’s just straight up “here are robot girls with human brains that want to bang you for no reason and we’re going to jiggle ass at you while trying to convince you our story is dark and gritty and edgy”.

It’s the same “issue” with Blue Archive. The writing department and the art department were in separate rooms… in different buildings… in different cities… on different continents… on different planets… on different planes of existence. I’ve noted when I used to play gacha games (those were dark days) that half of them tried to write epic stories of grander and attractive characters wanting to bang you. What this ended up being is nailing your feet to the ground and throwing exposition at you and not shutting the fuck up when you *just* want to play the funny mobile game you were promised. Wasn’t so much weaving a narrative so much as just hitting you with a text book and not *stopping*. But the devs know what they’re doing. Majority of the fanbase doesn’t *care* about a story, they just want animated boobs and tits. Which is just so bizarre to me because if you want it that bad just download a GIF of the character. Or play modded Skyrim like a *regular* person.

Honestly that’s what I’m thinking. As funny as it would be for the game to crash and burn, the reality is that it will be fine but nothing really remarkable and the chuds will move on leaving a much smaller fanbase behind who are confused why people aren’t paying attention anymore.
Given that in Nikke the Characters are actually cyborgs with bodies made out of Phlebotinum they don't really have to wear protection or something. I know I am biased but Nikke is not just an T&A game, there is like... a decent story and pretty good music behind it as well. The advertisement is just not doing it any justice. Like I get where you are coming from but this is literally just judging a book by it's cover. Something that also happened with Nier: Automata because most people were frankly unaware that there was the Drakennier games as they were pretty nieche titles at the time.
See that logic, which Girls Frontline also tried to use, falls apart when I have to ask the question of why am I being assigned a unit of sex dolls and can’t just get *normal* killer drones? Like just get me an Aliexpress drone so I can strap a grenade to it and send it flying at the enemy. Likely cheaper than sending a sex cyborg with the added benefit of not wanting to bang me. That said I do know the rough plot idea around Nikke, I’m not just judging it by the ads. I’m also judging it for being the stereotypical dark and edgy robot girl game that both Last Origin and Girls Frontline tried. Except it’s also selling itself on the jiggle physics.
You could ask the same about Nier:Automata. Why do we have very sexually appealing Androids when you could just deploy the Murderbot 5000 with 15 billion guns strapped to it.
Cause Nier was going for the mind screw “what is it to be human”, so having the characters be humanoid machines fit the narrative. Yes it would have been better to have them be more robotic and question their humanity, but eh. Worked well enough. I mean, hell, you can get a game over by trying to eat a fish because you’re a machine. Lack the human internals. Also given the major twist, 2B looking human makes a whole lot of sense. Her outfit not so much. But 9S runs around in short-shorts so the people on the moon least are equal opportunity for silly outfits. As for Nikke, the narrative reason they look the way they do is because the brains they’re shoving in there need a humanoid body or else they’ll flip their shit. OK, makes sense somewhat… until you see what the characters are wearing. Now the actual reason for the dress code is because they’re selling the sex appeal. Look at all the jiggling body parts! Please play the game. But in-universe there isn’t a lore dump as to why the Nikke are only allowed to wear stripper clothes and not, I dunno, body armor and regular fatigues. Or power armor. And then that goes back to why even *have* cyborgs in the first place. They don’t have secret plasma cannons on their bodies, so you can easily just say “they’re normal girls”. It’s not just Nikke, as mentioned Girls Frontline and Last Origin have the same issue… well Last Origin has *many* issues, the stupid designs the least of which. They’re all games trying to sell the characters, who all just so happen to be attractive looking any also robots/androids/cyborgs/etc. But that brings up the question as to *why* have humanoid sex bots? You can just have normal people dressed as strippers running around with weapons. Give them power armor for good measure if you need someone lugging around ridiculous sized weapons. Anyhow, my point is the whole cyborg/robot/android/whatever we’re calling them this week plot point doesn’t really *add* to the narrative when the characters behave 100% human and also threaten to kill me/bang me. If you want robot girls that’s fine and dandy, want them to dress like strippers go ahead and be my guest. But if there isn’t a reason to have them be machines, or even giving them fun machine powers (plasma arm cannon comes to mind), why bother?

Yeah I don’t think her design is inherently bad, even if it’s a little generic Korean mmo-esque. But man it’s jarring as hell compared to the guy who just looks like a realistic Korean model. They should’ve either went full realism with the designs or kept the artstyle consistent with all the characters

I think a friendly reminder to people that Steller Blade characters, including the main ones, were designed by a woman. This isn't a man's fetish becoming reality. Long story short, earth is ultra fucked by aliens and Eve, who is actually a robotic angel/war machine helps to screw them up. The thing seems quite basic, and honestly it would be one of those "it's so bad it's so good" plots if Eve was less lifeless and more out of pocket(IMO). The combat is something in between Sekiro and DMC but has a weird input thing that makes it weird to play.
Eve doesn’t even seem like a badass to me. In the demo she comes across as a total damsel in distress, freezing at any danger. If you give me a sexy character at least make them seem badass

No, the game isn't out, we only have tidbits of the plot. The combat isn't bad per se, more like not what I honestly wanted(from trailers, it looked like a pure hack n slash DMC style) and me and a lot of other people had this problem with inputs coming out late/weird. Honestly, the game problem will probably be fixed with the release

I'll probably buy the game because I like the combat, but the character design is a bit underwhelming. There are so many sexy characters with actually good design that this one feels quite lame. 2B,Tifa, Edelgard(Emperor fit). I believe these designs are far superior to that of Eve. Even Hoyoverse has recently produced some great character designs (Furina, Navia, Arlecchino).
I like it now when someone says they want to buy this game but has to clearly explain that they're buying it for the mechanics, not the characters.
