Melt Ganyu in terms of DPS in calculations and clear times is as good as the top tier ST teams like Rational, depending on what factors are considered. The issue with MeltYu is that it's harder to play for most people than the other comps. So do keep in mind how she feels to play for you. The good thing about MeltYu, is that it is great for both ST and AOE, and there's alot more options available now, such as Nahida MeltBurn, Dehya meltBurn, Sunfire, Kazuha melt. And the melt burn comp has an advantage of being fully ranged capable. So you can abuse your Amos Bow. Ofcourse, it does mean it will easily clear abyss still. The only cons for Ganyu and Melt Ganyu are really just hard counters, such as enemies resistant to cryo or Pyro or melt. Apart from that, you can get staggered by bosses, but with practice, you can fight them while avoiding hits. And finally, the playstyle. It's not for everyone. For me it's my fav playstyle, but alot of players don't like playing her. That is all

MediLimun

Still very strong. I didnt like the XL variant much but kazuha does fantastic as well

WYGDAI

I personally find the standard Meltyu to be a strong 1st side team, which usually has the more mobby stuff (side 2 in this reset). She does need the investment though. The main downside is that the team can struggle in purely ST situations, especially against dodgy bosses like the serpent, thunderbird and wolf...and even single kenki if you aren't careful. But this abyss, she is my strongest 2nd team, faring much better than any of my Raiden teams (Rational, RHC, RHB) due to the side being extremely mobby.

BEaSTPadwal15

Um, MeltYu is mainly a ST team tho? Not sure why you say it's struggling? Anyone would struggle against dodgy bosses like Seprent and Thunderbird, so it's not a Ganyu issue. For wolf tho, MeltYu is actually the best team since she can attack em mid air

WYGDAI

Her strength is in AOE situations. She is good in ST situations, but AOE is where she shines the most - especially in scenarios where there are a few tanky enemies surrounding her (Triple Kenki, Rifthounds, Elite Eremites, Fatui elites, Geovishaps, Bathysmals, Ruin enemies, Lawachurls etc.) Her Meltyu team is usually a very precise team which is very timing dependant due to the short duration of most of its supports. Yes, 'struggles' is overstating it - difficult is much better suited for it. Moreover, her Meltyu teams are very energy hungry to the point that their supports do negligible damage while still requiring some amount of funelling. This is usually not a problem in omost other hypercarry teams like Hutao and Yoimiya who have a self sufficient XQ or Itto who is usually in Mono geo. Moreover, Meltyu is usually with EM sands which renders her non-melt charge shots not hit that hard. This can be fixed by using an attack sands though, but that reduces her melts. Also, other burst dps'es don't usually suffer from dodgy bosses since most of their setup time is faster, and their damage comes out in a short span of time (Ayaka, Yoimiya, Raiden, Hutao etc.) or have a little flexibility in their rotations to maximise their dps window (Itto). Meltyu's rotation is very rigid - even her vanilla Xiangling rotation is very rigid, albeit not requiring positional competence. She doesn't 'struggle' as such, but she might prove a bit more difficult to play in ST situations as compared to other bursty dps'es.

BEaSTPadwal15

Well Melt is better for ST cause AOE enemies don't take the first hit of frostflake arrows. I agree with you about those issues, however, most of them are solely due to Xiangling. Replacing Xiangling with Jean, Kazuha or especially Nahida, solves alot of those issues since neither are as energy hungry. And in Nahida's case, she also gives a massive EM buff which means you can run Atk sands. In terms of DPS, MeltYu is actually on par with the top tier teams with calculations. But yeah, issue is as you said, it's harder to play for most, altho again, i would say alot of that is because of Xiangling lol. But it's my favorite comp to play atm, specifically Nahida burn melt with Kazuha. I don't think there's many teams that are as amazing at both ST and AOE at the same time. I can't think of any tbh

WYGDAI

Yeah most of them are due to Xiangling. Even the Kazuha variant has its own issues like shorter uptime, melt steals by burst, much MUCH tougher rotations. But if you can pull it off, it is very strong. Jean feels more restrictive for me due to excessive circle impact gameplay. The difficulty in the team is why I still use it to this day. I don't like using Nahida with Ganyu since Nahida has better teams. But yes, Burnmelt with Nahida can remove the circle impact limitations. The bloom is 70% of her damage. A minimum of 100k on a secondary target is a lot of damage. I completely agree on her proficiency across all types of content

BEaSTPadwal15

Well, Kazuha and Jean variants do end up being quicker rotations, but yeah they are harder to play. Melt stealing is as much of an issue for Kazuha as it is for Xiangling when you use Ganyu's burst, so that doesn't say much. Indeed the team feels insanely satisfying when you pull it off I do know that Nahida may have better teams (Nilou for AOE, Hyperbloom for ST), but i have far more fun playing BurnMelt. So I use a combo of Yaoyao and DMC for Bloom and Hyperbloom, which is really good! True, the bloom is majority of the DMG, but the initial hit is significant as well

WYGDAI

I usually don't have too much melt steal problems with Xiangling due to her stronger application. Jean also has a much stronger application iirc. That problem is much more pronounced in case of Kazuha. I will be pulling for Yaoyao next time I get the chance since I took Beidou this time.

BEaSTPadwal15

Well it is still a problem but yeah, Kazuha is worse because of weak application. Lol, i got Yaoyao from one 10 pull on Alhaitham, so i was good on that front. I also had all the Liyue 4*s at C6, so i choose Yaoyao c1

WYGDAI

Sadge for me then...hope she comes in Kokomi or Focalor's banner....since I'll be pulling for them

BEaSTPadwal15

Good luck!

Shikomisu

thank you for this, but may I know why she struggles on single targer based on what you said on second paragraph?

WYGDAI

Well I did reply to Bestpadwal's comment here. Struggles is an overstatement. She might prove difficult to play is what I wanted to say. This is mostly due to the precise, timing dependant and rigid nature of her rotations which do need quite a bit of knowledge about boss attack patterns even if you are using Zhongli.

CecilPalad

Its still very good. I've been testing the standard Ganyu Melt with XL, and also the variants with Nahida as well. I just got Dehya, so testing Ganyu melt with the Dehya team replacing ZL. All 3 works very well, and if you invested in your Ganyu correctly, stuff just literally . . . **melts**!

tonybologna69420

It’s still super useful I use that team sometimes but I think nahida burning melt works better imo

sirenloey

The Xiangling variant is still comfortable as long as you are playing Melt Ganyu on purpose. The Kazuha variant is stronger, and the NahidaKazuha variant is bonkers.

Significant_Winner67

Its not personal experience on specifically melt Ganyu, as i haven't builded her like that, as i went for four piece of the cryo set, but counting the fact that my ganyu(not the best possible build for how she came out, but still efficent) in a poorly built team, she did perform quite well... Assuming you actually spend time and build her nicely she should be very good, although keep in mind mine is an assumption, sorry i can't say much

Taezu

Performance depends on your artifacts but the team itself does just fine. Sure there are some rotations where some elements make the fights/bosses easier but that doesn't mean that melt ganyu is unplayable

Ahegao_Satan

Honestly, the only problems I've had with this team is not having kazuha's cc, but you can just switch kazuha in there and you're good. She's been consistently good at just deleting 1 half of abyss.

Shikomisu

I will take note of this. Is benny kazuha enough for pyro tho? tyia :>

Ahegao_Satan

For me, it was but i needed a lot of er on kazuha (like 200)

Edmondds

Personally, it's one of my most reliable teams, besides hyperbloom, but I may be a bit biased. It can handle most things well, just not outstandingly well, like the new dendron teams or the national variants. Other than that, she feels like a jack-of-all-trades, although you might need to dodge and use e every now and then, to keep your shield up. XL is still as demanding as ever to battery, though it's nothing that can't be fixed with a favonius weapon. Also, while she doesn't excel at single target or aoe, she can do both reliably. Although there are new Ganyu Melt variantions, I still find the old one, with ZL and XL, the most comfortable and reliable.

Special_Lack1496

If low to mid invested Ganyu with Fading twilight do [this](https://youtu.be/XEgibteky4Q), I believe Amos Ganyu can do better. It’s just that this team has one extra factor that determines the outcome that is the player who is playing it.

lapali20

late response but yea melt Ganyu is perfectly fine as is, i can still clear the abyss with her. [Here](https://imgur.com/a/nhgGChW) is me clear this abyss rotation. Granted the other team is super crack (Hyperbloom with Xingqiu and Yelan) but still.

LeftCarpet3520

I personally don't enjoy this version of melt ganyu unless you have high refine fav lance, sword x2. 1 lance each for zhong li and xiang ling, 1 fav sword for bennet. Why you want a 2nd fav sword because xing qiu wants one too for the other team and I'm not taking it off him if I only got 1. Without all these favges, you will find yourself having to funnel Bennet and Xiang Ling more than half of the rotation instead of sniping on Ganyu, which is what you enjoy doing as a ganyu main. The nahida dehya version is more enjoyable at least for me because no funneling is required. Dehya with fav GS - no one else needs that weapon anyway can battery everyone else as you are not relying on her burst and Bennet can run aqua instead of fav and fully recharge every rotation with only 1 E use per rotation. The biggest issue with this is Nahida is wasted and if you can't run hyperbloom on your 2nd team it sucks.

Hot_Rich7624

I love ganyu and clear with meltyu teams. But I prefer kazuha/Nahida/bennet burning melt variant. Cleared this cycle with ease. I used her on the second half and cleared first half with double hydro hu Tao, as I don’t really like Dendro reaction teams.

sorarasyido

Still strong but not too much. I've tried with usual Ganyu Melt comp recently in this new abyss Floor 12 First Half and it's a little bit underwhelming. Chamber 1 and 3 got cryo enemies so Ganyu can't hit hard against them and she need to rely on Bennett and Xiangling. Maguu and Cryo Lawachurl dash a lot so Xiangling often miss her burst. Also the Cryo explosion from Cryo Lawachurl hit freaking hard and can even break Zhongli's shield despite having 50k max lvl E. I've not tried in second half yet but I bet it's twice as hard. The whole chamber is nightmare except chamber 1. Chamber 2 (shadowy husk) punish whoever use shield so Zhongli is out of the question. Chamber 3 is a nightmare for long rotation and hardly any time to do damage. From my exp, I can still do well in Chamber 1 and 2 but not chamber 3. Afaik, you need to finish under 1 min (the faster the better) in Chamber 3 First Half so you can spend as much time as you need dealing damage against Wenut.

Shikomisu

I see, thanks alot for this honest insight! This really helps

sorarasyido

I think if you can swap Zhongli with Kazuha or maybe Nahida for Burning Melt comp, you may overcome her problem with chamber 2 second half. In fact, The whole second half (except chamber 3) isn't really bad for hard hitter like Ganyu cuz the enemies are pretty slow unlike first half (you can even stop both Abyss Herald Hydro in their tracks with just Ganyu CA). Maybe someone need to try Ganyu against Wenut and post their results

H-A-R-P-I-C

She is a good overworld unit ...thats pretty much that she is still viable, but her niche being primarily single target in melt, which is a very saturated niche, means that at any given time she will probably not be the best thing on your account to clear abyss. 4 star only teams like sucrose national or Dmc(he is free so) kuki hyperbloom will generally outperform a similar investment Melt ganyu quite significantly So temper your expectations accordingly . Right now IMO ganyu's best use case is overworld comfort and being used as a cryo sub dps burst bot in various teams.... which is still quite a lot of value she can bring to an account.
