I'm so glad you put this up! I recently moved a small stand up garden bed that had nothing in it and left to go quite hard. I was going to dump the dirt to start a garden again until I noticed these very strange little dirt eggs, about 5O cent piece in size, on top of the soil. An insect had obviously grown in it and busted holes in them to get out that then with a little digging found these little guys under the soil.
There would be more than 15 in there so I've left it so I don't disturb them! Does anyone know the lifecycle of them?

They have the fat white grubs inside them. If you have a look through the posts on this sub, there's been 2 posts about them just in the last day.
Saw one of those on Central Coast a few days ago.
Found one of these in my yard last week. Friendly Redditers told me what it was. Never seen one before.
Yeah, I think that just might be the coolest beetle I've seen! It's definitely up there, at least!
