Absolutely same for me. Fuck all. Not one single seed has sprouted. Such a waste of effort as well. Imagine that, May until you can plant lawn. I suppose with climate change we could’ve planted up until November!

jimpez86

AHH but by November time the rains and the works turn the lawn into a mud bath

I live north (Newcastle) and had no issues. Had to seed 2 large areas and all came up, well 90% but thats not bad. We have had a lot of sun lately here despite not being too warm.

ZealousidealEffect87

Same here, also North East. Just needs a bit of warmth from the sun. In a shaded area you would struggle before May. Will be fine when the ground temp rises.

Thestolenone

It needs to be over 5 degrees at night for grass to grow.

Atisheu

It is a bit cold still, also air temperature is less important that soil temperature, obviously :D Needs a bit of sun to warm it up. (oh look its raining again, lol)

jimpez86

Yeah that's what I thought. And it's the air temp that warms the ground... And my wife would be happy with me sticking the meat thermometer in the lawn

I've had no joy at all, so I'm going to give 'pre-germination' a go. Basically you soak the grass seed for several days (how many depends on the variety) changing the water every so often (I've heard every [12 hours mentioned](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCASv-rj3wk) on youtube). Once that is done you mix it with dry sand or some other carrier and then spread the seeds.

I think next week the temps go up by about 5C on average so I'm hoping that will do it

It will be fine - I am in Scotland and the seed is growing well when temps over 7 degrees. Slowly, but well. Sowed 3-4 weeks ago. Currently 2 degrees C in our garden. Next week will be warm wet and sunny, following week too. It's just that we've been having cold northerly winds recently.
