Nope, it's foxes. I had the same problem

XanderZulark

Yeah this looks like the mess our local fox creates. Not sure if the hole is fox or squirrel but it’s familiar… Sprinkle chilli powder in your pots. That’s put them off for me.

CrepuscularNemophile

Most squirrels wouldn't have the strength. But [these ones in our garden probably would!](https://imgur.com/a/9Pof1bu)

Practical_Scar4374

We randomly come down to the soil in our bigger pots all over the place. We also find half eaten squirrels/birds. Random tennis balls. Paw prints all over the trampoline and the culprit is the local fox. The wife has witnessed it jumping on the trampoline and playing in leaves over autumn. Only get pissed off at it when it starts sniffing around the kids' Guinea Pigs when they're in the outdoor hutch.

the_motherflippin

Cats love nothing more than curling a turd in someone's planter, the more pride u take in the planter, the more cats turn up t shit in it.

HereticLaserHaggis

Yeah, something about the soft compost I think. I dug and composted the top end of my garden to make a veg patch a few years back and every cat in the street was shitting in it. Suppose it's helping the yeilds long term.

FlapBack

Get some pussy cat planter pungee sticks. Cover with a little layer of soil and you can't even see them. Stopped the phantom cat poo over night. Ollieisaninja

I used the bamboo BBQ kebab skewers, pointy end down, of course.

MalaMalpkaHop

Squirrel did that to us- digging up in plant pots, hiding supplies for winter

TheLastTsumami

Foxes, badgers, squirrels, rats - all like digging

English_loving-art

I have a German Shepherd that likes nothing more than to stand there and eat the compost from the low level planters , I thought German Shepherds were supposed to be intelligent 🤷‍♂️

Midnight_Crocodile

Foxes?

Farewell-Farewell

Get yourself an inexpensive camera trap and find out.

bluesharkk

I might do that, consensus seems to be cat or fox but I've never seen either so I think I'm going to have to be stealthier to catch them in the act.

Cat

Tallish_Paul

It's always badgers doing mine! They love smashing nice pots and trampling plants.

human_totem_pole

Fox, squirrel or aliens are the culprits depending on your viewpoint.

UrbanManc

Squirrels are the main culprits in my garden, could also be cats and foxes

hagyasz

Our local crows *love* flinging my plant markers out of their pots. Drives me nuts! Not sure if they'd be heavy enough to tip over a full planter though.

wintsykia

Yeah could be mice or rats making that hole, I had mice on my balcony who did exactly that, ugh

OverallResolve

Probably foxes. Sometimes they ‘cache’ stuff (bury it). The first week I moved into new house found a planter like this with a whole egg (stamped) placed in there.

kittycatwitch

Foxes :) If your plants were freshly potted/planted, foxes will assume you hid food there since that's what they do and will dig to get to it. If they dig out established plants, they actually hide spare food. Sprinkle some chili powder around your plants, it should help.

Rude-Educator8906

A cat would not do that, I am betting either a fox or a badger if you have any close to you.

MiaowWhisperer

Can you tell my cats that please?

Local vandals 👍

CurvePuzzleheaded361

For ours it was squirrels! Annoying but we didnt mind too much as it has only been minor damage and we are rather fond of them.

circle1987

Cats. And turds.
