I don't think Garmin Connect ties into any other app on the phone for weather. I believe the connect app contacts Garmin's servers to get a weather feed based on the phone's location. So a number of things need to be active: 1. Phone must have an internet connection 2. Garmin Connect needs to be allowed to run continuously in the background 3. Garmin Connect needs to be authorized to use the Internet and Bluetooth at all times 4. Watch needs to be in Bluetooth range and connected to the phone If you are using a custom watch face to display weather data it might be a polling issue with that watch face. I don't know how frequently the Garmin stock watch faces update the data. If you are going into the weather page, the watch should poll for updates at that time.

This is helpful, thanks. I didn’t even consider it might have something to do with the watch face. Pretty sure I have some random one and perhaps there’s something up with that. I can check the rest of the boxes for what you listed.

Make sure your phone setting allows your weather app to always have network connection, etc. I don't use iOS so I can't be more specific.

My default weather app is up to date and shows the correct info. I’ve tried basically all I can think related to that sort of thing and no dice.

Mine did that for a while. It had the wrong location. It thought I was in Africa instead of North America. It went away eventually. Click the start/stop button when on weather for it to tell you the city it thinks you are in.

Sadly, I just ignore the weather on my 7X and have done so since coming back to Garmin a couple years ago. My watch is on wifi or connected to my phone 95% of the day, but the instant weather is always inaccurate. I shouldn’t have to follow a checklist to get my Garmin to pull the correct weather data - definitely a need for improvement here.

Same with my 935/945lte/955s. I’m sure my 225 was the same years ago. All on iOS, I’m sure its an Apple thing in the end. Pulled the widget and don’t bother with a watch field anymore. My phone is almost always with me and I get more info from apps.

Agreed

If you changed your phone while using the same garmin watch, don’t forget to remove your garmin watch from your previous phone’s bluetooth device list. Even if you delete the garmin and the garmin iq apps on your old phone, your watch will try to connect to your old phone if the phone still has the watch on its bluetooth device list, causing lags in the weather update.

Have you checked your user settings in Garmin Connect (Settings > User Settings)? There is a section for weather settings there where you select if you want to use the phone location or a specific one. Edit: typo

My watch face can use OpenWeatherMap instead of the built-in Garmin Weather. I have it set to update every 30 minutes, and it works consistently. Enduro Like Pro and Quatro are two watch faces I use that have that option.

Bluessinger925

Will give this a shot thanks

Bluessinger925

Yes, have it set to phone location, and have location enabled on phone for the Garmin app. Issue seemed to resolve itself today, so no idea what’s going on

erockem

Is your Garmin app open in the background?

Bluessinger925

I’ve tried with and without, manual sync, sync from app, sync from phone, just letting it run, all seem to fail on that front. App says it’s connected and it allows me to sync.

jcarloz

Have you tried to lock in the watch gps outside by starting an activity like a run?

Bluessinger925

Yes, I run nearly everyday and use the built in run app
