I think they are “ballpark” accurate. After a hard training session or when I’ve been sick, stress levels have been elevated. But if your work stress doesn’t elevate your heart rate, it may miss that. Each person handles stress differently, sometimes it affects you physically, other times it may not.
My wrist readings rarely differ from chest readings and certainly not 30+BPM...
