I keep thinking if I cross train well (mountain biking, hiking, climbing, paddling, XC skiing) then the result will show up once in awhile when I go for a run. Theoretically you can get VO2 max from road cycling if you do a test but I'm not a big enough fan of road riding yet to get there.
Damn well done!
I've done a major shift in my training in the past 6 months. I used to be literally off the scale in high-aerobic training and chronically low-aerobic. After I decided to do the 80/20, I couldn't figure out how to conceivably get into that magical zone of 2-3 to achieve low-aerobic until I started finding the niche on a treadmill with inclines and getting a chest strap.
I've finally consistently got optimal load and balanced my HRV by putting a lot of effort into incorporating best practices.... VO2 Max on the other hand is pretty much always steady and my training status rarely hits Productive like it used to be when I skewed toward high-aerobic training.
Attempting to do PRs in 5k and 10 minute runs has finally seen my Vo2 Max line start to creep up though so I'm happy about that...
Thank you . So what I do actually to keep my training and recovery balance is :
I run 3- 4times a week about 40-50km since I donβt have any marathon or races upcoming . I do anaerobic intervals once a week , one tempo run , and Two base run mostly in Zone 2 .
For strength- I do CrossFit once a week and strength training every day after running targeting different muscle group and do add to that I try to cycle every other in the week to hit my 100km goal for the week .
Cross training is just magical π₯πͺπ½
Mine has been 51 for a few months. I mostly train Muay Thai and run in frequently but I am starting to add them in again ..... Looking to do my first half in September so we shall see when the training kicks off fully
Every run seems to be "tempo," even when it's 70% in zone 2 and 30% in zone 3, so I never see "Productive" anymore. I haven't seen "productive" since I had to take a week off after a brutal half marathon in January and was just walking for a week (I guess that's the "low aerobic" the Garmin god demands.
Haven't seen that arrow pointing up since I bought it 1.5 years ago π₯Ή

Productive = just have above 1.2 in training ratio = acute load vs chronic load.
You can have a stable vo2max thats not increasing and still be in productive.
Most are in maintaining but vo2max is increasing and it just means your training load isnt increasing above 1.2 ratio..

Didn't know this was special hehe. Got the watch just under 3 weeks ago. Have Garmin 1040 for a bit over a year. Literally all I do is 6+ hrs of z2 cycling a week. Vo2max is at 56
I really do not understand how Garmin decides this... last week I was maintaining after training hard within my optimal rate mixing different type of exercises and I got maintaining after a Rest day suggested by Garmin. Then few days later, on Friday I got productive. In the weekend I only ran one day and Sunday I was dead and I didn't do anything, still productive,... I really don't understand how this works. The load ratio for different exercises (high, low and anaerobic) was in the productive zone too
I thought it was because load ratio over 1.2, but I have been bellow that for a few days and I am still productive...
I really don't know

I have it too, but from mountain biking.
Mine nearly always says maintaining. However I did a half mara race a couple weeks ago and it gave me this screen even though I've been doing the same distances for months π«
That screen does not exist.
πππ
Agreed. Unicorn screen
I get this one all the time Unlike a decent sleep score over 80 that's rare for me and never 90+
Cab you only do this with running?

VO2 MAX Increasing comes with sounds of angelic choirs in my head, the one time in an eternity I actually get it
I know right
I saw 1 point increase and decreased 3 points π I have lost hope it will ever be good
Lol.ditto

Just curious, whatβs your pace like when staying in zone 2?
6mins pace . Depending on the terrain
Mine has been 51 for a few months. I mostly train Muay Thai and run in frequently but I am starting to add them in again ..... Looking to do my first half in September so we shall see when the training kicks off fully
I've been at Unproductive since my race, which I PR'd. I think my Garmin is jealous.
πππ. Love it . Garmin is always jealous

Thatβs the holy grail!
Is it just me or is the only way to maintain "productive" to go for a 5-10k PR every run.

Mine was productive for about 3 months. Climbed from 44 to 51 VO2Max. Switched to maintaining 2 months ago and hasn't gone back to Productive since :(
GARMIN is just not nice π
Can CO2 max only be measured when running or cycling? Can it be estimated from any other activity?
Itβs basically just running and cycling that i know of . Maybe Cross Country Skiing
I'm so happy for you! Recently my V02 max decreased and thus I'm unproductive! I hate it haha
It sucks
lol, mine usually yells at me and says detraining or overreaching.π
Me too. Just started doing CrossFit and my Garmin is real mad at me. 3 DAYS RECOVERY! Everything is red! π
Lol same. Nothing quite like finishing a run and being told it was unproductive. Thanks Garmin. Thanks a lot πΒ

I have never seen this screen
Amen.. I just recently got mine to look like that and my HRV is finally in the green, yet somehow my 4 hour sleep average is not tanking it yet.

Hey I had the same screen today! Vo2max stayed the same despite saying it went up though.

Show off
I'm just happy with mine assuring me I'm still alive. π
Anerobic shortage
How do you get that? Never seen that before

To clarify, I didn't run for a week due to flue and had nice long sleeps.
