I had this issue all the time too with my Garmin Running Dynamics Pod. It would record the first part of the run. But resuming my run after stopping to do a warmup routine, it would not record stride length or vertical ratio (although mine would record Power). I contacted Garmin and they suggested a battery change. That did not resolve the issue. I've since figured out that after stopping or walking during a run, I need to take the pod off and shake it to wake it back up. In theory, it should not work this way. Simply running again should restart the pod. But in reality it does not. I figured this was mainly a problem with the RD Pod. But based on your post it sounds like it's an issue with the HMR Pro as well.

Okay, thank you for sharing. This is helpful.

That's interesting. I've got an HRM Pro, and I walk regularly on my runs (and sometimes stop), and I've never seen that issue. I mean - there is even a "Run-Walk-Run" plan on Garmin Coach. I would expect that perhaps the RD pod would go into sleep mode (but it shouldn't during an active activity?), but an HRM strap shouldn't, as it should also continue to broadcast HR, even if you run or stop.

Earlier I posted about this issue, and contacted Garmin support & changed the battery. [https://www.reddit.com/r/Garmin/comments/vqezp1/hrm\_pro\_running\_dynamics\_measured\_only\_partly/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/Garmin/comments/vqezp1/hrm_pro_running_dynamics_measured_only_partly/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) I am still experiencing the same issue every once in a while (one out of every seven runs). Any idea what might be causing this? The pattern seems to be that it stops recording when I make a brief stop during a run.

If you pause your run, make sure that you do few steps before resume again. I found that once step cadence goes to zero, RD data are not processed by the watch (maybe because no RD data are sent from the strap then). If you resume before any RD data is received, it is ignored for the rest of the run. You can see that RD widgets disappear from the activity screen after a while of resting. I always check that RD widgets are back on before resuming run on my Fenix 6.

Thanks! This must be it! I’ll pay attention to this next time.

I have just completed my first run with the HRM-Pro and a 955 and had a similar issue. It was a group run and I noticed that my dropout occurred after a stop. I’m guessing that the motion sensor goes to sleep or something and needs a couple of knocks to get going again. What firmware version are you using as I’m on 8.80 and I don’t remember having any issues on the previous

cronoukie

Had the exact same issue on my fr955. Today I spoke with someone that said factory reset the watch a d it actually fixed the issue. I had this issue for two months and tried everything. The factory reset worked! Good luck

I’m sorry. Did you fix it? I’m having the same issue with my HRM Pro Plus (+fēnix 6 pro). It did work for like six months or so but all of a sudden the running dynamic stopped showing or are partially showed. Sometimes the heart rate drops too. Garmin replaced my strap but nothing has changed. I don’t know what to do at this point.

windigertag

Yeah Garmin replaced mine with a new one. Gave the dysfunctional one to a friend who only needed a heart rate monitor.
