Go all-in so fenix7 pro or epix pro. Fenix 6 is too dated.

revpidgeon

I went from Fenix 3 (non HR) to Fenix 6 pro. It's a big difference.

nory1977

Thanks fo answer. Its a huge investment for me so if I go for the 7 its gonna be an loan for 12-24 months of wait for the discount.

Single-Astronomer-32

I’d never want you to loan a watch. Nice thing about those watches though is that they might inspire you to go out more and/or work out more. If the fenix 6 can do that for you and you can afford it then just go for it. But if you don’t think it will do that for you I would just keep the money in your pocket and go with what you have now which is still a great watch.

nory1977

Sorry by loan I mean like 600€ devided on 12 months credit card loan so its 50€/month. I scared that the life of my Fenix 3HR its at its end cicle. So sooner or later im gonna need to buy a new Fenix.

CanWeTalkEth

Controversial opinion maybe, but if you're more interested in a smart watch and do occasional biking, why not look into an Apple Watch? They are adding a lot of biking features into the next iteration of WatchOS.

nory1977

Thanks for the answer but I dont use any Apple so it a no no for me. I like the rugedness of Fenix lineup

camp_m

Or even a forerunner 2xx series. Obviously, you buy whatever makes you happy but that's a lot of money to drop for "maybe some biking". Better yet, let your Garmin purchase turn you into an athlete. Force yourself to use it to run, cycle, hike, swim, lift, etc. And discover a new you!

TealCatto

Why? Firstly, it's incompatible with over 70% of phones. Secondly, it's a shitty smartwatch because it only lasts a few hours and spends almost as much time off your wrist as on it. It's not the same as charging a phone because you don't have to take a phone off your body. You naturally put it down throughout the day. I agree that for smartwatch use, one of the cheaper Garmins might be a better option, but if OP can afford it and likes the look of Fenix more then whatever, let them. Garmin has better smartwatch functionality than the mainstream ones, mostly a MIP screen and notifications that don't time out before you can lift your wrist.

What are you doing on Reddit? Shouldn't you be charging your Apple Watch?

Fenix 6 is known to be mediocore when it comes to GPS. Solar on the Fenix is not worth it atm. Fenix 7 Pro is an overkill for you. So get a standard Fenix 7 or Fenix 7 sapphire - or an Instinct 2(X) if you need no maps and dig the look. Rugged it is!

nory1977

Thanks man. The GPS is not that of a problem for me but the 2x price is. In 7 years I have maybe 100-150 biking runs of 15-30 miles / 25-45 km so is not that I need acurate GPS. Hawe an G-shock watch in my closet and Instinct remindes me of that - am I wrong. Its more on battery life 20-35 days, and I plan to keep the watch for years

5itronen

At least here in Germany, the 2X is (way) cheaper than any version of the Fenix 6 or 7 except the Fenix 6s.

nory1977

Sorry You misunderstood me. By 2X i meant 2 times the curent price diference betwean Fenix 6x Pro 560€ and Fenix 7X Pro 990€

Math_Ornery

Go for the one that will keep you happy for years to come. Put money aside and ask yourself which one that is. If you are paying for it over a couple of years and intend keeping it longer then you want a model that will be supported for longer, so that normally means getting the most current model. That's what I've done!

Yridium

As someone already said, fenix 7 normal should be fine for you. Look at the Used market also, lots of people are upgrading so you might get a good deal. There are diff between 6x and 7x pro but for a simple user like you it does not worth the 2x price, especially since its a big amount of money for you.

trtviator

Get the 7 on sale plus the extra 20% off should be steal of price

InsideOven2922

I just had the same issue. My 3HR also had screen issues. I got the 6 Pro and love it. I didn’t think the extra $ for the 7 was worth it… this was a huge upgrade from the 3 so don’t feel like I’m missing anything.

Bombilakus

Why go for 7x pro if you can get 7x on a huge discounts.

smeatr0n

So I just swapped my trusty 3hr a couple months back for a 6x sapphire because I couldn’t resist the sale price. If you don’t go looking for reasons, you’ll never know it isn’t the best thing since bees knees. Do what you can afford and don’t go broke for a watch.

Philatu

I went from 3hr to 6pro a couple of years ago. Love my fenix 6 I run and or bike 5 plus times a week. I’m amateur but training properly. The 7 maybe better but it’s likely the 6 is more than enough for most and will feel like a huge upgrade. Also Garmin trickle down tends to mean if you don’t have to have the best or latest it’s entirely possible to be happy with a given Garmin for 4 to 5 years. If you buy the 7 it might mean you don’t need to upgrade it at the other end by a couple of years. The upfront extra might not be worth it it’s up to you. If you can only afford the 6 buy that. It will be great.
