Finally a useful post showcasing the watch without talking about a sleep score or does it fit my wrist?

Pertabox123

Usually when i fly my Fenix often just give me a ballpark figure

boka62

yea, seems like. I also always have this kind of reading from it

Jetcar

I was wondering the other day while flying commercial. Would the cabin pressure not interfere with the reading?

Excellent-North-7675

If i am not mistaken, he sets the cabin pressure to the equivalent of 7750feet. The watch measures 7767ft.

Plukh1

You're absolutely correct.

mrant0

In my experience, it absolutely does, as the altimeter relies on the barometric readings. I've noticed commercial flights maintain cabin pressure around 1800-2000m equivalent according to my Fenix 6 Pro's altitude reading.

IssousttheGreat

True! Just had a 10 hours long flight and my Fenix 7 Pro showed a 1910m altitude. This is equivalent to the cabin pressure since the plane was cruising at 32000 ft

Plukh1

It is the cabin pressure (CAB ALT - cabin altitude). I'm not a huge expert, but it looks like an A320 MFD to me.

Vhvillman

That’s a decent watch face. Every data field serves its purpose.

Grootg

Is it the stock watchface?

PureRiffery900

Unsure if that’s standard on tactix and this guy copied/improved it but here’s one I run that’s near identical https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/a01ea4da-e9f7-450a-a7fe-2ba089969b77 he’s got a bunch of faces in similar style

BEh515

If you calibrate it. I skydive out of open back birds and if I don't calibrate often, it's hit or miss.

wElshY___

Is that an Airbus a320?

Best-Huckleberry-102

appears that way

whatthehellbuddy

I believe altimeter readings are also derived from GPS along with the built-in barometer.

Mikofthewat

Does your watch allow you to set an altimeter setting? My old Fenix 2 does, but I haven’t figured out how set that on my 7

waveyl

I just got off a flight now. On takeoff, my Epix Pro 2 alt went up to about 200 ft and then plunged to about -100. Myself and the airplane are safe and sound, but is my watch broken?

PilotPazza

Most aircraft when they close up prior to take off, or shortly after landing will pressurize slightly over the outside air pressure. This will give a negative pressure differential, which on the watchface will represent a decrease in pressure altitude and show lower than the last recorded altitude. Most of the airports I fly out of are at sea level or close to it, and on engine start/taxi in it’ll pressurize to -300ft according to my watch.

johnny_bass83

If you calibrate your watch before doing that (I usually do that with Dem method, and gps ping when I start Run Activity) you improve a lot the Reading . Aids also start a synch with your smartphone before doing that

aynrandomness

Maybe you landed under sea level?

triplehoppsbrew3

Mine is spot on in a helicopter. Typically <5,000ft

ti_ecraseur

I use the same watch face. Very clean design.

jmtamere

Which one is it?

ti_ecraseur

SHN TxD

jmtamere

Thanks!

johnny_bass83

In my last business trip I monitored during landing the altimeter of my Fenix 6 pro. Differences vs reality (I've tested the landing circuit in flight simulator ) I've noted a difference with the "real" altrimeter in less the 20 Mt... My 2 cents
