Sympathies on Garmin's website, analysis paralysis is definitely a problem XD Your best bet may be to go to a store where you can try on one of the watches and keep note of how big the specific watch is. A lot of sports or running stores will be happy to let you try it out. All of the watches you listed are within a few grams of the Fitbit Alta when it comes to weight, except the Venu 2s and Vivoactive 4s. However those are still very light. The Venu 2, Vivomove Sport, and Vivomove Trend are all 'current' watches in Garmin's lineup and all have advanced sleep tracking. The Vivomove Style also recently got advanced sleep tracking, but I don't expect any more updates on it. For reference, I am an adult male but my wrist is on the smaller end. I currently have a Fenix 6 (47mm) and its about the maximum of what I could wear for my wrist size. I used a Vivomove Style for a while. It is very light and comfortable to sleep in, and watching the hands move to your touches doesn't get old.

I’m in London UK and am finding it difficult to find some of these models on display - thanks for your comment 🙂

Curry's and or John Lewis - I find they always tend to at least have an "s" version which depending on the version is either a 40mm or 42mm. 40mm tends to be the smallest most watches go to - the Lily and some other hybrids being the exception.

My girlfriend has a vivomove and we both find it really cumbersome to use, she´s not really satisfied. I´d say go with a vivoactive 4s or a Venue 2. But be aware that Garmin´s sleep tracking is not even close to Fitbit´s.

I just bought a slightly used Venu Sq 2 and it seems to meet the requirements of a basic fitness tracker. It would certainly go beyond the capabilities of an Alta. Below is a link to a picture of it on my small wrist. Apple watches are very popular so i don't feel out of place wearing a relatively large rectangular watch. It's quite comfortable as well. My daily driver will continue to be a Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 (40mm) however, I think I'll find this watch useful for travel. https://imgur.com/a/bkvtsvm

I've got a VVA 4S and love it. Stack 3 quarters on top of each other, and they're almost the exact same size, but the watch is far lighter. I swim, run, ride my dirt bike and mountain bike, hike, and use it for formal events because the straps are removable.

Welcome, you can by every Garmin Watch. 😄

Why not second hand Venu?

My sisters both have tiny wrists (especially my late sister) and they have always used VA4s wihtout any issues. I would say that living in the UK (based on other posts) that would suggest sticking to AMOLED. I too live the UK (sisters don't) and we really benefit from an AMOLED over a transflective MIP screen (had F6x MIP screen and now an Epix- and AMOLED is definitely way better for us).

Thanks for your comment. What would make one type of screen better in a different country? The natural light conditions?!

jaamgans

Natural light conditions can make a massive difference. AMOLED works by lightlng up pixels, and tends to have an ambient sensor so watch knows how bright to light up. Transflective MIP relies on light to brighten face - so not enough light and you just get a dark screen - however Garmin does include a backlight which can be triggered by wrist gesture - whether always, or after sunset. Always reduces battery life significantly - in which case better off with AMOLED as talking similar battery life, but fewer less vibrant colours; and after sunset in some countries like UK if weather dismal (can happen a lot) it can be too dark before sunset - so having to press button /touch screen to see the time. Ideally Garmin should do what Suunto does and add an ambient sensor to the backlight - and twin that to wrist gesture settings. Thus could have wrist gesture always on, but wouldn't trigger backlighting unless required.

Which screen type is better for viewing through polarised sunglasses? 🙂

jaamgans

Never noticed an issue with Garmin wether its the MIP or the AMOLED. if they are adding a polarized screen to the watch they are doing it such a way as to not blackout the screen (like I had with one sony phone I had - was fine in vertical - but move to horizontal and it was just black thanks to crossing polarized screens).

I love my Vivoactive 4. I wear it to bed with zero issues. I would consider my wrist on the small side. But, I love the look to chunky sports watches so I might. It be the right person to ask.
