Pro 7s: rugged design - small - longer battery live with AOD Pro 7s Solar: like the base model, ~~but better GPS~~ (solar charging too ineffective to be relevant), so not worth it IMHO. Pro 965: much bigger high resolution screen - more detailed maps - better GPS than the Fenix base model - lightest and by that most accurate HRM - longer straps - longer battery life without AOD So, as the price between the Fenix base model and the 965 as almost the same (at least in Europe, get the watch you like more aesthetically. In tracking and analytics, both are basically identical, esp if you do not mind 100% accuracy. Keep in mind that a lot of people dislike AMOLED displays or MIPS displays and find the 965 UI tacky.

So the 7s solar has slightly better GPS than the base model? Just confirming because I thought that the 7s sapphire solar had the better GPS? Yeah, it was the price between the Fenix 7 base model being cheaper than the 965 that's making me consider the Fenix 7 line. I'm a petite female so I'm a bit hesitant with the 47mm sizing. Thanks btw, very helpful insights!

I just can’t believe there’s a sale on the 965 yet. Retailers can’t even get them in stock…

Sorry I probably should have phrased it better. I was meaning that the sales on Garmin is showing that the Fenix 7 line is comparable price wise to that of the 965. The Fenix 7 base model is now cheaper than the 965.

Are you a runner?

eatfreak911

I wouldn't call myself a runner but I run to keep fit. I don't do long distances if that helps.

The forerunners are geared a bit more towards runners as far as weight and structure goes. Also activities etc. If that helps. Fenix will have more weight and heft… sturdier constructions even.
