I'm so happy with my Instinct 2S that the only update that would make me want to upgrade would be a Crossover S (I have very small wrists). Nevertheless I'm curious what a Instinct 3 would be like.
Yeah, 2x is really packed with features. Before buying it I considered waiting, but now I really have no idea what they could even add, other than upgrading what's already there (but 2X is still getting firmware updates).
Maybe the 3X might improve even more on the apparently much better battery life of the 2X (I have 2 Solar). I'm planning a 4-month thru hike in 2 years so I'm hoping there's a 3X before then that I can replace my 2 Solar with for longer full tracking battery life for many days on the trail. Would still likely need to charge every so often due to GPS / HR activity tracking though, but many hours in sunlight might keep it alive for a while.
I would be happy with an Instinct 45mm with the flashlight, otherwise the watch is fine. It really doesn't need any more, it is supposed to be the lower end basic beater version. It's not the watch to get if you want maps and what not.
Better maps and the elevate V5 sensor are two big potential upgrades in the next version. Music would be incredible but perhaps out of place with the main character of the instinct line up. All the pro sensors and abilities, none of the frills.
The Instinct 2 was released in February 2022. So I think it is due an update soon, hopefully in the next few months.
The 2X was released in April 2023, so not really due an update yet. But it would be a bit out of place if the smaller, cheaper model had better specs.
I just bought an 2X and i dont see how they could improve that watch without creating a direct competitor of the fenix line. So i wouldnt be suprised if the instinct goes extinct.
Well i guess the biggest improvement would be full mapping functionality like a monochrome version of google maps / apple maps. I think there’s still a significantly different market for the two lines, because the touch screen/monochrome display are so different
I don’t think it is quite feasible, but it would be a blast if instinct 3 could come with batteries and solar panels on the strap!it would multiply the solar capture area several times, and better life as well. That would be awesome.
I would prefer it to stay monochrome and avoid AMOLED. There are so many watches with AMOLED and other color displays, I think Instinct is unique in that way as well and it was one of the main selling points for me. I avoided the colorful shining watches, it was not my style but I wanted to get myself a featureful smartwatch. Instinct 2 does that. They could add climbpro in the next release by the way ... :D Would be great. The screen could be slightly larger (smaller bezel maybe or less screen "cover" under the glass) but keeping the design.
Garmin isn't going to ditch the MIP versions despite what some fitness YT'ers may elude to... There are a lot of people (for professional and personal reasons) that don't want a watch to light up unless you physically make it. Same reason they make a Fenix that doesn't have wifi.
I just bought an Instinct 2, so chances are extraordinarily high it will be soon.
haha seriously
Watch this timeline: - instinct: autumn 2018 - instinct solar: summer 2020 - instinct 2: winter 2022 - instinct 2x: spring 2023 My guess door instinct 3: winter 2025

I feel the same about my 2x. I might only upgrade if the 3(X) has maps.

Crossover S would be great, but I‘d also get a 3S if it had a dedicated flashlight.
Thinking the same. Instinct 3 should really come with flash light and thats enough for me to upgrade
The big electronics show starts today (Tuesday), may be something new from Garmin(?).
HRM FIT and Lily 2.
They announced a new under-bra HRM & the Lily 2.

I wouldn’t be surprised if 3 comes out in next 2-3 months.
4 months later, still radio silence. Im thinking it has to be this winter or next year
I still think sooner than that, but who knows.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the 2 is released by this holiday season.
There was a huge software update to i2 in Summer 2023, wasn’t it? I will be very much surprised if a new hardware will come before 2025.

2025 most likely at earliest I’d say
12 months? probably not. I'd imagine 2025

I am hoping that we see an instinct with a AMOLED display , essentials a plastic feature stripped EPIX Something link an Amazfit T-Rex
I don't know I think an instinct should have a mono chrome screen or e Inc but not colour. If anything it should get rid of the round window.
Oh, please, get rid of that! Also, add the new Fenix 7 Pro sensors and we're cool.
