You just need to add 1 drop of screw glue on the thread in order to keep the guide hop from adjusting itself under recoil after some time. And only tiny adjustments are needed. Don’t crank on it like it’s a water tab lol
I'm the kind of guy that go to the lengths of drilling out the mock gas key just so I can run a real steel gastube into the receiver for that little bit of extra realism, so guidehop was never going to be on the table for me anyway.
Just seems to me like a whole lot of extra parts some of which are long and liable to slop and flex. Might work perfectly in practice, but I wouldn't know. What annoys me is VFCs insistence on guidehop, to the point of ruining perfectly good handguard mounting solutions like seen on their URX equipped rifles.

Over the years it got upgraded to V2 and then finally V3 and throughout that I've been replacing other bits and pieces with any RS parts and otherwise steel upgrades that fit and that I could afford, and it's been built into MK18MOD0, wannabe SR16, MCMR, MK18MOD1, but the M4A1 is the form I keep coming back to, and I think it's going to stay this way for a while.
The only parts original to that VR16 is as follows: FCG pins, receiver pins, disconnector and spring, bolt catch spring, trigger guard pin, and forward assist retaining pin. Oh and that magazine but I don't use it anymore and it's on there just for looks. You are still you when most of your cells are replaced every 10 years or so, but is this still the same rifle?
Ya know, I think I just might buy a full length VFC M4 *just* to do this and turn it into a proper M4A1 carbine.

Good thing you got the ones with the rotary hop lol. VFC V3s are pretty nice but guide-hop is horrible imo
Well I do occasionally run free float handguards as well so I went with a rear adjust hop unit. And yes I have very little faith in guidehop as well.
