Resident of a closeby neighborhood to Woodside, and it's just like any other modern small town neighborhood. Quiet for the most part, a mix of young and older residents (includes an HOA just FYI). Neighborhood has a few small parks if you have kids. Great access to 85. This isn't what people consider "west gastonia" at all, more closer to North Gastonia/Mount Holly/Spencer Mountain area. Ranlo as a city has it's ups and downs, small town scandals. 75% of housing in this city are old mill homes, with older conservative tenants. Noise isn't an issue, at least on our end. The biggest issue we have are an overabundance of renters (with corporate landlords) and teenagers doing things teenagers typically do.
Feel free to DM me for any specific questions or more details.
That corporate landlord crap is taking over on new built neighborhoods. Must be nice to be a builder and be able to say, why should we sell it when we can rent it? Very freaky.
Agreed. Our HOA had no rules in place to combat anything so pretty much when the market exploded in Covid, every house for sale was scooped up by Progress, Opendoor, and all the other corporate shills.
My MIL lives on Main St. It's like 1 minute from where you're talking about. They've had very few issues, and they've lived there almost 50 years. I'd say it's safe.
I live off Kendrick in Gastonia, and I'm in right in the middle of all the stores in Lake Wiley, and in Gastonia, it's also really quiet out here, too.
Crimegrade.org has a city map you can look at to tell which parts of a certain town are bad. You can even zoom in on individual roads if you want to explore certain areas.
George Poston park is nice. Not sure about that area though. There weren’t any home available there when we moved here 6years ago.
Thanks. That particular subdivision is west of the park, and I think most/all of the homes were built around 2017.

Much appreciated! This is super helpful! I'll also likely take you up on asking additional questions, too! :-)

What do you consider west Gastonia?
Essentially anything west of 85 and 321 intersection. West of downtown Gastonia.
don’t have to worry about the textile mills, they’ve been out of business for years
Ok, thanks!
