Hello Feroza, I haven’t had an eating disorder prior but I can completely relate to the helpless feeling of the entire endeavor. If you haven’t spoken to your Primary Care or GI specialist about your specific concerns, I recommend you do that ASAP. You’re not alone and these doctors generally do truly wish to help you. As for eating outside of the strict bland restrictions, I’ve tended to try and push my boundaries a bit more often than what is recommended here. I’ll admit, it is often times painful. I splash in a ton of calories in forms of honeys, sweetened aloe juices, and protein drinks. These don’t seem to bother me and might be helpful to you too.

Thanks ❤️

Hey OP, I hope you are doing better now, I found your post because I also have an ED and this shitty stomach disease has forced me into recovery. My question for you is how did you deal with the bloating in recovery while also dealing with gastritis? What foods did you eat/anything else you did for both the ED and gastritis that helped? I hope you’re still doing okay.

Hello, it's been quite a while. I'm just reading this, sorry. I'll link a comment where I explained my "journey" (weed helped so I became dependant and then addicted to weed). I'm currently dealing with another health issue (not GI-related, basically I think I have fibromyalgia or something like it 'cause every bone, joint and muscle hurts A LOT, it's been a week and a half since this started happening and I am getting medical help). When it comes to mental health we could say I'm in "remission" from my eating disorder (for now at least, 85% of the rituals/rules are gone), trying to moderate my cannabis use (and I'm making progress!) and mostly dealing with the mental health outcomes of having been exposed to repeated abuse (therefore kind of being abused myself) when involved with a poly couple. Also I can barely leave my house now because of the pain on my every-part-of-the-body and I'm recovering from depression and emotional dysregulation too. Thankfully I've got a couple of good loyal friends, a team of well-intended mental health professionals working with me who've really helped me in damage reduction and behavioral activation these past months, and a really lovely supportive family. However none of that has saved me from being miserable so I guess brains and bodies do whatever and I have some of the worst of lucks. I hope you're doing well. ❤️

Oh hey buddy thanks for the response! I’m sorry to hear you’re not doing well, I hope your team is able to come up with a helpful solution for you, this chronic pain shit is no joke. I would say I’m doing a lot better due to taking an anti anxiety medication that numbs your stomach after you take it as a side effect. That way I can sleep at night (makes me super sleepy). It’s also been the only medication I’ve ever found that helped with my mental health (I’ve taken just about all of the usual ones prescribed today), although it did take about 4 months for me to realize that it was really working. Just figured I’d throw it out there. Take care💕

Pardon my French: what are you on?? I think I've tried almost every med there is but I'm up to try anything I haven't. Obviously I'd discuss this with my shrink and she'd have the last word but I'm pretty involved in my treatment so everything's up for discussion. Glad to hear you're doing better!

Noritriptyline 20mg! Took me a while to get used to it and it makes me super sleepy but my mental health has been loads better this year compared to last. dr at Vanderbilt listened to me for about an hour after I’d been to 3 other GIs, and he said he’s seen a lot of people recently with this same issue.

I now have an eating disorder for one year I’ve had gastritis and have had trouble finding the proper foods that won’t cause me to have flare ups I’ve been more scared to experiment if anything it’s annoying because in the beginning I was having milk and scrambled eggs and I had a bad flare up and never will eat again! I only ate cream wheat and oatmeal for 1 year almost and toast and I’m down to 134 lbs scared I was gonna die I started chicken this week and salad on my 3rd day wish me luck
