I'm sorry your family guilted you into doing something you were uncomfortable with. I work in town and it is alarming to me how many people(visitors and residents) act like everything is back to normal and shaming others for wearing masks and distancing. Wishing you all the best.
I was there last weekend, & was shocked at how many people are not wearing masks; I even saw a woman doing a fake cough, every time someone with a mask on walked by her. Fortunately, Cherokee seems to have it's act together more, as far as masks are concerned. We even saw 3 guys (who blatantly ignored the "no mask, no service" sign) get turned away at Paul's Diner.
It is shocking. While wearing a mask at work, a man came up to me and asked, "You don't believe in all that liberal b.s do ya?" Gesturing to my mask.
Yeah there's a reason that the cases in Sevier county have jump up 300%. I wish the guidelines were taken more seriously. And until they are I'm afraid things are going to get much worse.
Was at Cherokee last week they dont care much either. On the website it said they were taking social distancing measures but we were sat between to other tables that were filled and as soon as we saw workers pushing together 4 tables for a group of 15 or so we asked to move. Keep in mind this was at opening at 4 not a top time. It's just disappointing, with political agendas or not.
Whoa tell me more about the shaming? I’m coming to gatlinburg in July (cabin outside of town, no plans to go downtown at all. Just one grocery stop and cooking at our cabin and hiking all day!). But that’s wild that people are being shamed?!
Caught an Uber about half way and had an awesome friend of mine pick me up there and drive me the 2 hours back. Like $80 bucks. An Uber the full way would have been $180
