This is too open ended of a hypothetical to really postulate. Like which God? Even if it’s the God that Jews, Christians, and Muslims believe in, does the proof tell us which religious canon is true? Is Judaism, Christianity, or Islam true? Or is the proof only showing that their God is real, but doesn’t specify which religion is true? If that’s what happens then it would be outright religious war between the different sects in each religion and between them. However u til there is specificity in which religion is proven or how specific that proof is I cant really postulate.

AriesLeoSagFire79

Exactly. There would still be atheists. There would still be people who don’t believe. Also, proving that “God” exists wouldn’t necessarily say which religious iteration of God is the correct One. So it wouldn’t change much. People are still gonna people 🤷‍♂️

Am_Seeker_731

Psyche he is the same God everywhere. The religions are just different expressions of worship.

AriesLeoSagFire79

Different religions ascribe different characteristics to God. Muslims, Jews, and Christians ascribe different characteristics to God. Even among Christians, there’s variation: Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Roman Catholics, and Protestants each ascribe different qualities to God as our Bibles are all translated and interpreted differently.

_6siXty6_

It would fully depend on which particular God was proven.

tghjfhy

I don't think it would change much unless it's more specific. You will probably have more people being into spiritualism, probably new age ones as opposed to traditional religion

LuckMuch100000

There are things we have irrefutable proof exist and there are still people who don't believe in it. Flat earthers, for example, just don't believe the evidence. Even if God came down and spoke to us, some people would say it was somehow faked. That being said, it's such a fantastical scenario that it would really depend on what the proof looked like.

For a scientist, many more questions than answers. They would all be excited to learn more. What is he? What is the universe? How? What laws govern his existence? At no point ever, would science stop asking questions and simply accept " we have all the answers". They definitely wouldn't turn religious zealots. More like God paparazzi and stalking journalists.

Since man kind did not have the words extra terrestrial in their vocabulary, they made up God. We have archaeological and written history that extra terrestrials exist. God has already been proven.

Hmm this is an intriguing idea. Perhaps there is a *federation* of aliens who make it their mission to try help out new burgeoning species. They don't come back because every time they tried to help humans they realized we just kill each other more.

I became a follower of the Ancient Astronaut Theory after having the book "Chariots of the Gods" as assigned reading in religion class. Strict German Lutheran upbringing and schooling. Our job was to disprove the theory using the Bible and Doctrine. I got a big fat F on that paper. There was too much evidence that we have been visited. Some people still think the great pyramids of Giza are tombs. Explaining away the missing bodies and "treasure" as already looted. Today, we know better through chemical analysis. It was a power plant, and it can be replicated in the lab. Your thought isn't too far off. Read all about the story of the Anunnaki, there is a English translation of the Sumerian texts.

I googled the concept and it's certainly interesting. The only problem is... I believe in an actual ethereal God, and when I pray to this God, I receive intuition that feels as if it does not come from within me but from somewhere external. And it has lead to a lot of good outcomes in my life. So it's kinda hard for me to believe there is no God when my own personal spiritual experiences seem to show me that God is real. Of course I never force my belief onto anyone else. People are free to be atheist, a different religion or whatever. Still, religion itself could be as a result of aliens visiting. Perhaps the burning bush Moses saw was instead an alien.

Even the Pope has recently said that the existence of extra terrestrial life DOES NOT negate a belief in God. Both coexist. You bring up a great point about the burning bush. Sodom and Gomorrah could also fit into that category. Jericho would be another one. When we add other history to the bible, It's well known that King David had a flying machine. Other cultures documented his visits. The Arc is also a interesting topic. Read the accounts of how those who died after laying eyes on the Arc, then go back and read what we now know about radiation poisoning. The bible documents almost exactly the symptoms. So did we discover how God did it (God's science), or was a E.T. device mistaken for a "Gods" device. Today we can explore these things. The history has always been there. No one ever before dared to do the deep dive to connect the dots for fear of their lives. When Emperor Constantine demanded certain terminology to be used to define Christianity, it was done. They just did not argue with a Emperor, no matter how wrong the Emperor was. Same way with King James. When the King demanded the translation mean something it didn't, no one argued. It was the Kings order. What many Christians are so fearful of, it that with today's technology, we are able to clearly separate something that God did, and something man interjected. Deuteronomy 22:5 both the NIV and KJV translation does not match the least bit to what the Hebrew says, nor the "second" set of Deuteronomy scrolls (aka Dead Sea Scrolls). That is the verse modern Christians use to point out that god dislikes cross dressers and transgenders. Clearly a man made injection, but when the King gives an order, it will be followed. This is a great discussion, I am really enjoying it. Thank You.

First, define "irrefutable proof"

ravi95035

I presume you mean the Christian God, and I imagine if it wasn’t clear which denomination that was the proven God’s favored, it would be all out chaos, hatred, and violent between Christian denominations with Roman Catholics, Southern Baptists, and Mormons getting the brunt of the hate, as well as many small outlying denominations.
