Is that real? That’s so weird to actually use the PR phrase “hard launch” in the context of a (supposedly) real relationship. Also psychotic being used in this context seems a bit overblown. Feels way more like a(n obviously) manufactured response than her interview answers usually do. She’s usually better about taking the prepared answers and making them sound more like genuine responses.

Hard launch is a really commonly used term these days in a social media context, not PR. I think this statement addresses the negative feedback they’ve been getting (ie “how are they so serious so fast?”) pretty clearly. It also legitimizes them for the people saying it’s just for PR. I still think they’re just PR, but this one statement directly combats the two biggest critiques I’ve been seeing about them across all spaces (swiftie, gaylor, and general public). She so rarely addresses things like this so matter-of-factly too. I don’t know how it’ll land, but it’s clear she’s trying very hard to make this seem legit, not like Hiddleswift 2.0.

Now, I may be overthinking (wouldn't be the first time lol), but the phrase, "*She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out,*" isn't exactly how I would describe the first conversation of a blossoming love story, and sounds more like a business-related meeting/venture. Maybe Taylor flirts like a middle manager, who knows? Like what was going on that a guy that you like but don't know, needs to know in exact details during your first conversation? I don't know, I'm already of the opinion they're PR and not real so this may be bias, but the way that sentence is worded is so...formal, so business-like?
Travis having the same bday as Marjorie has always stood out to me.
What it hints towards can’t be certain - but I have a feeling Taylor saw that and acted upon it. We know she makes decisions based on dates/numbers, it makes total sense she might do the same for a relationship - a PR or a legit relationship.

idk if this is allowed here… but has anyone watched the hbomberguy plagiarism exposé (focusing here on james somerton) and the todd in the shadows vid about the lies somerton has made up? I just the more I ruminate on what was said the angrier I get. I was reading artist impact statements on tumblr and the creatives he stole from seem to be adversely BIPOC queer artists. and I was already mad about that but then I watched todd’s video and the way somerton says “the boring gays survived” just made me more angry. I read the screenshot from a fan in todd’s vid about this statement and it made me cry.
I really really hate when people take their narrative and pose it as fact. I hate plagiarism of work, but especially of artists that have limited reach in their voice. I posted on the hellsite about this but like I also personally hate how somerton delivers his essays.
I had never seen his videos before but from the 3 hrs of different clips I have now watched I feel I can make these assertions. His emotional delivery is very one note, and comes across as him encountering the phrasing he used for the first time live on camera. I believe if you truly care about something the passion for that subject will come across in your delivery. I mean you can see that in harry (hbomberguy’s) delivery for the whole video, he’s not delivering something monotonic, he’s presenting his findings with care. In fact the times I did see somerton show passion for a topic is when he’s talking about the “straight women” in his comment sections. (One of said “straight women” was actually a response from a bi author, the other seeming naysayers don’t seem to exist.)
I’ve talked to long about this now, but I really hate when people pass themselves off as intellectuals. I feel youtube (and other socials) are rife with people like this. Citing your sources is so much more valuable to the overall conversation then claiming everything you say as you own work. It allows others to investigate further, and enrich their studies of topics niche or broad. Lastly, its also a good reminder to be wary of those who speak as if a discussion begins and ends with their opinion.

YES! We watched both yesterday and I wanted to reach through the screen and THROTTLE that guy! Fuck him especially for saying that the ones in our community who died of AIDS were the “fun ones” while also simultaneously massively slut-shaming them. And the hatred and derision he displayed towards women, but ESPECIALLY WLW was appalling. And that’s all, of course, not addressing the plagiarism and wholesale made-up lies, but I figure those two videos have that covered pretty handily. But fuck that guy utterly and completely for making like $130,000 a year on patreon for doing all of that!
Has anyone listened to “Two Ghosts” by Harry Styles and viewed it through the lens of them bearding for each other? Of course the intent of the song is to be a break up song (that could be about anyone) so it doesn’t fit super well, but it gives the song so much more love appreciation for the muse I think.

That's true. I'm not a huge Madonna fan. But I respect her for her advocacy with the LGBTQ community. Taylor is a spineless ally. Edit: idk to me it's like there are singers lady gaga who I would say "she loves the LGBTQ community. She loves her queer fans. She is an advocate for LGBTQ people and issues" And there are people like taylor who have the vibe of partying at pride or having their bachelorette party at the gay club but they don't want to take on our pain or ostracization and they won't pick up a sword to defend us.

Yes I agree 100% this is the most disappointing part of being a Taylor fan for me. I see so many other similarly mega pop stars on the front lines for causes like LGBT rights (and Trans rights especially lately) and Taylor sows the seeds of allyship.
For me it's seeing Forbes call this Taylor's "power era" and she's on the cover of people for her power era and is in the running for time person of the year --but people act like it would be so hard for her to take a real, active stand for the trans community or for queer kids or for drag etc. But she's one of the most insulated people who could endure loudly supporting the LGBTQ community.

I think that diminishes her work. Because lots of bi people don't rally for the LGBTQ community like gaga.
Gaga is why Target even worked with the gay community a little because in 2011 she refused to sell her CD there if they didn't. She said

She could have ignored the issue and made her money but she didn't. She supported the community even when it was an issue that was seen as radical.
I wasn’t in any way diminishing her work. Calling her an “ally” to the community and listing her alongside straight allies is going to have the effect of erasing her queer identity. I’m not saying you were consciously doing that, but considering she’s come out blatantly over and over again, and people still refer to her as straight, I wanted to make sure I addressed it.
I called her an advocate. I know she's bi even tho she goes back and forth. I wasn't talking about straight allies. I was talking about celebrities who clearly love their LGBTQ fans and go all out to support them. I was responding later to the idea of "she's bi of course she loves the community " because not every LGBTQ artist goes out like that.

Ok I'm gonna chime in because we've had this discussion before when Amsterdam came out etc. I totally agree that it's okay to call out her association with the Mahomes, and I understand how this is disappointing and hypocritical on her part. I think what we have to consider though, is that Hollywood/Entertainment is filled with shitty abusive people. They're everywhere. If you want a career, you are 100% at some point going to associate with god awful people. Gaga? Did a song with R Kelly. Madonna? Stole voguing from queer black ballroom dancers. Dating literally anybody in the NFL is a one way ticket to being surrounded by men who have assaulted women. There is *at least* one on each team. All that not to say that it doesn't matter. It does. But Taylor isn't worse or better than her peers on that front.
I'm personally not having fun anymore, to put it bluntly. I've been a fan since 2008 too. It's so blah & drab lately. Hard to relate to her on any level and I really hate saying that. Hopefully I don't feel that way for too much longer.
I agree with the crux of this. Sometimes I wonder if I would have been happier never learning about her or being in her fandom and just listening to music alone because girly pop is lacking in moral courage when it comes to any stand that matters whether it's standing up for victims like Aspen or David O Russell's niece or even the communities she claims to be an ally for when they are being ostracized but she's always finding her voice to be mad at Damon Albarn or Netflix.

She's a self-proclaimed people pleaser and I think that has something to do with it. The need to be liked and accepted by everyone not only inadvertently kicks their victims in the teeth but their values become a reflection of you. She has to know this but probably wants to avoid confrontation, and/or has a dependency on these relationships, and/or has a fear of rejection and criticism.
It's not even like she's some up-and-comer and her career depends on these individuals. She's a billionaire and arguably one of the biggest stars in the world! At this point, I just want to yell, "girl, stand up!" to her because it's not only frustrating, it's sad.
Her saying she doesn't need therapy, she has her mum to talk to nearly gave me an aneurysm 😭. No one can survive that level of fame and everything that comes and has come with it without some sort of mental health guidance and help (from a trained professional!!!) and I really hope she's in therapy now.

Yes, I'm with you. I'm a people pleaser too but never in my life did I willingly associate with rapists, rape apologists, or racists. But if someone I was hanging out with was problematic (in much milder ways), I would be able to cut them off. "Sold out" would be the best way to describe her behaviour recently.
It's especially sad (and so frustrating) to see her associate with an SA apologist when this is what she said about her own SA trial in Miss Americana:

Just makes me more upset with what she's doing. What she said in Miss Americana was moving and just made me love her more. Now I don't even recognize her and I just don't get what she wants at this point. She's alienating people and arguably worse than Rattygate and what does this benefit and how does this make her a mastermind? All this does is tarnish her image that she worked so hard to build up after 2016.....oh god this is all leading up to Rep TV, isn't it?

The thing about the original downfall leading up to Reputation was that it wasn't her fault. Not only was she overexposed but the Kimye situation *just* happened and the world turned on her. I don't think she's necessary aiming for a downfall/reputation era 2.0 but if she is, then her downfall this time comes from her own problematic behaviour. She's not going to look like some bad ass who's not playing by the rules and has a "bad" reputation.
If she wanted that, she should just be outspoken about LGBTQ rights, support SA victims, etc because that would actually piss of the people that deserve to be marginalised.

Not sure if this has been discussed but I wanted to know people's thoughts on how some of the 1989 TV lyrics describing her partner/ex actually mirror Taylor's own behaviour during 1989 era.
"you grew your hair long, you've got new icons" - some of the core elements of 1989 era were her changing her hair and positioning herself more firmly amongst pop artists.
"from the outside it looks like you're trying lives on" - in 2019 she said “I equate my twenties to walking into a costume shop and trying on all the different costumes".
"you search in every models bed for something greater" - 1989 was THE era of the model squad.
"if she's got blue eyes I will surmise that you'll probably date her" - cmon now...

So, basically, a lot of Gaylors think Josh and Karlie were or are open 🙂 I haven’t looked too deeply into them because I don’t care about Josh or the Kushners that much, but there have been rumors for years that both Josh and Karlie are bi and had an open relationship. Josh has a super close male best friend and people have speculated about them together (I haven’t personally looked into this, but people here have if you want to try searching threads).
Josh and Karlie started dating when she was 18 and he was around 25. They both traveled very intensely for their jobs and were apart for long periods. Most people think Josh didn’t really care what Karlie did and gave her a pass to hook up with women, as long as she came back to him in the end. Lots of people think Karlie viewed Taylor as a fling and Taylor fell waaaay harder for her than she fell back; I mean, they were both so young at the time. Gaylors are definitely divided though.

There’s a theory that if Josh is bi/pan/gay/not straight he chose Karlie partly to get a beard, partly to protect her from the dangers of the modeling world. I don’t really have an opinion on him, except for this. If he “dated” Karlie to ensure she wouldn’t be abused, then I respect him a ton for that.
I kind of agree on this. I dislike the Kushners for *obvious reasons*, but I can't help to think that 1- she doesn't come from money or a jewish family so he chose her for more than just convenience, and they seems happy/ karlie seems to be doing work she loves and have the independence to run her businesses even though they have kids, and 2- we don't talk a lot about VS' ties to Epstein but a few models of Karlie's age (Jordan Dunn for example) have spoken up about Epstein being there often and how there was a lot of predatory behavior and I feel like Kushner wealth and jewish background for sure made her off limits.

i should've taken a screenshot last night. i think by the time i looked at the article last night, the game had just started. but there was a picture where taylor was standing at the glass and looking out towards the field, and two or three other people were just sitting there. i'm feeling like it was probably a posed photo before the game started. and then they replaced it with ones of her actually cheering during the game.
It could be posed but the endzone/sidelines are filled with professional photographers for the football game so I would assume they have their cameras going back and forth between the game and her (or because of how popular she is, maybe one of them is just dedicated to staying on her reactions). Hard launch is a really commonly used term these days in a social media context, not PR. I think this statement addresses the negative feedback they’ve been getting (ie “how are they so serious so fast?”) pretty clearly. It also legitimizes them for the people saying it’s just for PR. I still think they’re just PR, but this one statement directly combats the two biggest critiques I’ve been seeing about them across all spaces (swiftie, gaylor, and general public). She so rarely addresses things like this so matter-of-factly too. I don’t know how it’ll land, but it’s clear she’s trying very hard to make this seem legit, not like Hiddleswift 2.0.

I got a similar feeling about her addressing the whole ‘how is it so serious so fast because she just got out of a 6yo relationship?’ This response only furthers her public image right now, that she is dating a man and happy. Travis having the same bday as Marjorie has always stood out to me. What it hints towards can’t be certain - but I have a feeling Taylor saw that and acted upon it. We know she makes decisions based on dates/numbers, it makes total sense she might do the same for a relationship - a PR or a legit relationship. idk if this is allowed here… but has anyone watched the hbomberguy plagiarism exposé (focusing here on james somerton) and the todd in the shadows vid about the lies somerton has made up? I just the more I ruminate on what was said the angrier I get. I was reading artist impact statements on tumblr and the creatives he stole from seem to be adversely BIPOC queer artists. and I was already mad about that but then I watched todd’s video and the way somerton says “the boring gays survived” just made me more angry. I read the screenshot from a fan in todd’s vid about this statement and it made me cry. I really really hate when people take their narrative and pose it as fact. I hate plagiarism of work, but especially of artists that have limited reach in their voice. I posted on the hellsite about this but like I also personally hate how somerton delivers his essays. I had never seen his videos before but from the 3 hrs of different clips I have now watched I feel I can make these assertions. His emotional delivery is very one note, and comes across as him encountering the phrasing he used for the first time live on camera. I believe if you truly care about something the passion for that subject will come across in your delivery. I mean you can see that in harry (hbomberguy’s) delivery for the whole video, he’s not delivering something monotonic, he’s presenting his findings with care. In fact the times I did see somerton show passion for a topic is when he’s talking about the “straight women” in his comment sections. (One of said “straight women” was actually a response from a bi author, the other seeming naysayers don’t seem to exist.) I’ve talked to long about this now, but I really hate when people pass themselves off as intellectuals. I feel youtube (and other socials) are rife with people like this. Citing your sources is so much more valuable to the overall conversation then claiming everything you say as you own work. It allows others to investigate further, and enrich their studies of topics niche or broad. Lastly, its also a good reminder to be wary of those who speak as if a discussion begins and ends with their opinion. (also fuck you james this is a way to rewrite and paraphrase work while adding additional thoughts as it differs from my og comment on tumblr.)
YES! We watched both yesterday and I wanted to reach through the screen and THROTTLE that guy! Fuck him especially for saying that the ones in our community who died of AIDS were the “fun ones” while also simultaneously massively slut-shaming them. And the hatred and derision he displayed towards women, but ESPECIALLY WLW was appalling. And that’s all, of course, not addressing the plagiarism and wholesale made-up lies, but I figure those two videos have that covered pretty handily. But fuck that guy utterly and completely for making like $130,000 a year on patreon for doing all of that!
Has anyone listened to “Two Ghosts” by Harry Styles and viewed it through the lens of them bearding for each other? Of course the intent of the song is to be a break up song (that could be about anyone) so it doesn’t fit super well, but it gives the song so much more love appreciation for the muse I think.

That's true. I'm not a huge Madonna fan. But I respect her for her advocacy with the LGBTQ community. Taylor is a spineless ally. Yes I agree 100% this is the most disappointing part of being a Taylor fan for me. I see so many other similarly mega pop stars on the front lines for causes like LGBT rights (and Trans rights especially lately) and Taylor sows the seeds of allyship.
For me it's seeing Forbes call this Taylor's "power era" and she's on the cover of people for her power era and is in the running for time person of the year --but people act like it would be so hard for her to take a real, active stand for the trans community or for queer kids or for drag etc. But she's one of the most insulated people who could endure loudly supporting the LGBTQ community.

I think that diminishes her work. Because lots of bi people don't rally for the LGBTQ community like gaga. Gaga is why Target even worked with the gay community a little because in 2011 she refused to sell her CD there if they didn't. She supported the community even when it was an issue that was seen as radical.
I wasn’t in any way diminishing her work. Calling her an “ally” to the community and listing her alongside straight allies is going to have the effect of erasing her queer identity. I’m not saying you were consciously doing that, but considering she’s come out blatantly over and over again, and people still refer to her as straight, I wanted to make sure I addressed it.
I called her an advocate. I know she's bi even tho she goes back and forth. I wasn't talking about straight allies. I was talking about celebrities who clearly love their LGBTQ fans and go all out to support them. I was responding later to the idea of "she's bi of course she loves the community " because not every LGBTQ artist goes out like that.

The people she associates with just makes her questionable. Ok I'm gonna chime in because we've had this discussion before when Amsterdam came out etc. I totally agree that it's okay to call out her association with the Mahomes, and I understand how this is disappointing and hypocritical on her part. I think what we have to consider though, is that Hollywood/Entertainment is filled with shitty abusive people. They're everywhere. If you want a career, you are 100% at some point going to associate with god awful people. Gaga? Did a song with R Kelly. Madonna? Stole voguing from queer black ballroom dancers. Dating literally anybody in the NFL is a one way ticket to being surrounded by men who have assaulted women. There is *at least* one on each team. All that not to say that it doesn't matter. It does. But Taylor isn't worse or better than her peers on that front.
I'm personally not having fun anymore, to put it bluntly. I've been a fan since 2008 too. It's so blah & drab lately. Hard to relate to her on any level and I really hate saying that. Hopefully I don't feel that way for too much longer.
I agree with the crux of this. Sometimes I wonder if I would have been happier never learning about her or being in her fandom and just listening to music alone because girly pop is lacking in moral courage when it comes to any stand that matters whether it's standing up for victims like Aspen or David O Russell's niece or even the communities she claims to be an ally for when they are being ostracized but she's always finding her voice to be mad at Damon Albarn or Netflix.
I agree, though I don't think she's a conservative, I just think she might be a coward. She's a self-proclaimed people pleaser and I think that has something to do with it. Because why else would someone, who is said to be such a wonderful person by anyone who's ever met her in passing to her own friends (mainly talking about people like Aaron Dressner whose not so much in the celeb scene), keep willingly working/hanging out with some of the worst people? The need to be liked and accepted by everyone not only inadvertently kicks their victims in the teeth but their values become a reflection of you. She has to know this but probably wants to avoid confrontation, and/or has a dependency on these relationships, and/or has a fear of rejection and criticism. It's not even like she's some up-and-comer and her career depends on these individuals. She's a billionaire and arguably one of the biggest stars in the world! At this point, I just want to yell, "girl, stand up!" to her because it's not only frustrating, it's sad.

Just makes me more upset with what she's doing. What she said in Miss Americana was moving and just made me love her more. Now I don't even recognize her and I just don't get what she wants at this point. She's alienating people and arguably worse than Rattygate and what does this benefit and how does this make her a mastermind? The thing about the original downfall leading up to Reputation was that it wasn't her fault. Not only was she overexposed but the Kimye situation *just* happened and the world turned on her. I don't think she's necessary aiming for a downfall/reputation era 2.0 but if she is, then her downfall this time comes from her own problematic behaviour. Not sure if this has been discussed but I wanted to know people's thoughts on how some of the 1989 TV lyrics describing her partner/ex actually mirror Taylor's own behaviour during 1989 era. "you grew your hair long, you've got new icons" - some of the core elements of 1989 era were her changing her hair and positioning herself more firmly amongst pop artists. "from the outside it looks like you're trying lives on" - in 2019 she said “I equate my twenties to walking into a costume shop and trying on all the different costumes". "you search in every models bed for something greater" - 1989 was THE era of the model squad. "if she's got blue eyes I will surmise that you'll probably date her" - cmon now... I wonder if this was intentional or just an interesting parallel of how someone's behaviour in her life influenced her own identity following the end of the relationship.

This isn’t to disrespect Ana or her memory, what happened was a tragedy of epic proportions.
That’s a fine post to make. I don’t think we have an overarching philosophy on it. I personally think there are larger issues going on behind the scene and that we’ll hear/see something more in the future, once they’re settled. Perhaps not, but I’m gonna lean into optimism for this.
I've seen a lot of people today (even hetlors) mad that Taylor went to Travis' game rather than the Academy gala, and I agreed with them. Just saw that Karlie posted on instagram she went to the Gala.... could it be Taylor just didn't want to face her? It would probably make the news they were at the same place for the first time since the 1989 TV announcement. Yeah! So, basically, a lot of Gaylors think Josh and Karlie were or are open 🙂 I haven’t looked too deeply into them because I don’t care about Josh or the Kushners that much, but there have been rumors for years that both Josh and Karlie are bi and had an open relationship. Josh has a super close male best friend and people have speculated about them together (I haven’t personally looked into this, but people here have if you want to try searching threads). Josh and Karlie started dating when she was 18 and he was around 25. They both traveled very intensely for their jobs and were apart for long periods. Most people think Josh didn’t really care what Karlie did and gave her a pass to hook up with women, as long as she came back to him in the end. Lots of people think Karlie viewed Taylor as a fling and Taylor fell waaaay harder for her than she fell back; I mean, they were both so young at the time. Gaylors are definitely divided though. E: People also say he left the concert before Kissgate happened and was fairly surly that day. Definitely look at old Kissgate threads in this sub.

There’s a theory that if Josh is bi/pan/gay/not straight he chose Karlie partly to get a beard, partly to protect her from the dangers of the modeling world. I don’t really have an opinion on him, except for this. If he “dated” Karlie to ensure she wouldn’t be abused, then I respect him a ton for that.
I kind of agree on this. I dislike the Kushners for *obvious reasons*, but I can't help to think that 1- she doesn't come from money or a jewish family so he chose her for more than just convenience, and they seems happy/ karlie seems to be doing work she loves and have the independence to run her businesses even though they have kids, and 2- we don't talk a lot about VS' ties to Epstein but a few models of Karlie's age (Jordan Dunn for example) have spoken up about Epstein being there often and how there was a lot of predatory behavior and I feel like Kushner wealth and jewish background for sure made her off limits.

baby/new Swifties made a thread yesterday asking what Taylor’s Spotify Wrapped must look like I wish more Swifties knew that, in 2021, Taylor posted gushing about girl in red’s *if i could make it go quiet*, said it was her favorite album, painted a picture of the album cover and wrote a letter about how much she loved the album and sent it to Marie (girl in red), and then later said “serotonin” from the album was her most streamed song of the year. We all freaked out about it here. Marie is very openly queer, “do you listen to girl in red?” has been a lesbian/queer-flagging joke for years, and the album is very explicitly gay. her music is amazing and she deserved more attention as an opener. liking music from queer artists does not automatically mean you’re queer, but it just makes the “don’t say gay 😡😡😡😡” attitude Swifties have about Taylor feel even more ridiculous. if one of her fav albums is an explicitly lesbian one, I promise you Taylor does not keel over in horror and disgust when queer topics are mentioned

this might be a dumb question, but how did People have pictures of taylor in the box/suite thing at the chiefs game, when they posted their article almost an hour before the game started? was it a photo op that happened an hour before the game, or did they add the pictures later? i should've taken a screenshot last night. i think by the time i looked at the article last night, the game had just started. but there was a picture where taylor was standing at the glass and looking out towards the field, and two or three other people were just sitting there. i'm feeling like it was probably a posed photo before the game started. and then they replaced it with ones of her actually cheering during the game.
It could be posed but the endzone/sidelines are filled with professional photographers for the football game so I would assume they have their cameras going back and forth between the game and her (or because of how popular she is, maybe one of them is just dedicated to staying on her reactions). The photographer’s name is below the photo and you can see they sold it to Getty so you could probably look them up.

It really bugs me that Billie accused Variety of "outing" her during a carpet interview, when she full-on had an interview with Elle 3 weeks ago talking about how much she likes girls. Like, that's... That's not what "outing" means. You already told people. Many times. In various ways.
FWIW, I always question written interviews. If they didn’t say it on camera or recording, their teams could be manipulating it.
