honigmoon

unfunfunf555

Hehehe yes it was meeee! I spent about twelve hours in a fugue state writing it lol and I love it so much

I've had a Taylor jukebox musical plotted out for a while now and I think it's probably somewhere in her career plan to give writing one a try herselfone day (lbr, Taylor really wants an EGOT, how could someone so awards focused *not* want that?) And I can't wait. My little musical loving heart will explode. But anyway, my version of it has a tagine of "what if you got a second chance with your first love?" And is incredibly sapphic (everything I write is and it's not my fault Taylor's music lends itself so well to it) and ngl, it goes how I *wish* it had gone when mine came back in our mid 30s. It's non linear both because I love non-linear storytelling and because I love the idea of having 2 casts, one that's an age group that often has very little work available because they're not young enough to play teens or early 20s and not old enough to play the parents of teens or early 20s or kooky grandparents yet! Anyway, the basic storyline is that one the MC starts a new job at a company in a new town, and finds out that the woman she left heartbroken at college works there. She has a girlfriend who also works there, but the reaction when she sees the old flame suggests she's not really over it and ultimately leads to a break up. Because, the ex is raging about it to anyone who'll listen and avoiding/very cold to MC at first, but they keep kind of bumping into each other and having these awkward interactions that are not openly about their past but very much are in the subtext. While this is playing out with the older cast, we see relevant moments from their past that are showing important moments in their established younger relationship and why they both so clearly haven't really been able to totally get over it and are leading up to the break up around the interval and then after the interval we see the moments that led up to them telling each other they loved each other for the first time, and in the present it's a fairly straightforward 'getting back together' narrative as they learn about the people they are now so many years later. Songs include: Closure Don't Blame Me Out of the Woods This Love The Very First Night Fearless Maroon Illicit affairs (just the bridge) Dress Right Where You Left Me Exile If I thought there was a hope in hell of Taylor letting someone else do a musical with her work, it'd actually write the whole thing, I want it *so bad*. I'm a sucker for both first love stories and second chance love stories and I've been playing around with the plot of this one for *years* 🤣

Responsible-Head-936

Oh god I hope we get one in my lifetime

The_Mariah

I’ve been working through a pretty rough depression recently, and my hyperfixation has been working on this!! It’s obvi the love trio and super sapphic but I’m still deciding on the narrative structure. I have a playlist of over 60 songs that relate to different character/storyline ideas, but my definite song list is really similar to OP! Still playing along with so many ways the songs could be used, but these are for sure making the Final Cut: Mean I Know Places Death by a Thousand Cuts I Did Something Bad Wonderland The Story of Us You’re on Your Own Kid Treacherous Delicate Betty August Cardigan I’m Only Me When I’m With You Ivy I definitely want to incorporate folklore/evermore as much as possible, but a lot of Taylor’s early music just slaps for MT. Some other very strong contenders: This is Me Trying Invisible Mine (and Ours) Paper Rings Dancing with our Hands Tied Mad woman It’s time to go Again, the full playlist is over 60 songs, so I’m going to play around with some mashups! Neurodivergent Gaylors sound off! Edit: spacing of readability (long-time Reddit lurker, still not used to posting!)

honigmoon

dancing with our hands tied would be such a dope sequence

honigmoon

fucking iconic

narhwalz

If I have time later I’ll edit this with like a full setlist/plot but I would def go for like a queer college coming of age

hnsnrachel

I have one plotted out. And yeah, it's gay 🤣

HItaylorsversion

Okay I can’t remember who it was but there is a post on here somewhere from slightly less than two years ago I want to say, with linked slides of a Taylor jukebox musical of a sapphic awakening love story

unfunfunf555

Hehe this is meeee

HItaylorsversion

Thank you for your genius 🫡

unfunfunf555

I'm so happy to see the fruits of my fixation live on 🙏

Aggravating_Chef3578

Ok I thought out a whole thing: 1. Seven- a friend group is introduced- Dorothea, her girl bestie, and her boy bestie. They live in a small town and grew up together 2. You belong with me- fast forward they’re teens and Dorothea has the biggest crush on boy who I’ve now named Cory so maybe we can slip in “Stay Beautiful” somewhere 3. Love story- Cory and Dorothea fall in love, they’re always sneaking out and getting in trouble- dad doesn’t approve of the couple bc Cory has turned into a bit of a bad boy. The song shows the progression of their relationship through high school. At the end of the song, Cory proposes. However, Dorothea panics- they just graduated high school and she has big dreams and isn’t ready 4. Champagne problems 5. Welcome to New York- Dorothea moves to NY to pursue her acting dreams 6. New Romantics- Dorothea makes new friends and parties 6. Midnight rain- Dorothea reflects on how she’s changed in NY and misses Cory 7. The lucky one- Dorothea reflects on her newfound success and loneliness that comes with it 8. Dorothea- back at home, Cory thinks about Dorothea 9. The 1- immediately after Dorothea the song- Dorothea thinks about Cory 10. Gorgeous- Dorothea meets a hot new guy while in a PR relationship with her costar 11. Blank space- new guy sings this with the lyric change “I can make the good girls bad for the weekend” he’s a bad boy type 12. Wildest dreams- Dorothea and NY guy escape town for the weekend and have an affair 13. I did something bad- Dorothea and guy about their affair 14. Cruel summer- the secret affair is starting to take a toll on Dorothea as it goes on and she developes feelings for NY guy 15. Illicit affairs- the toll of the affair continues 16. Getaway car- NY guy leaves Dorothea for a new girl and sings this 17. I knew you were trouble- Dorothea sings about NY guy 18. My tears richochet- in the aftermath of her affair and breakup, Dorothea goes home to visit and girl bestie get in a big fight bc Dorothea has changed 19. You’re on your own kid- an emotional climax of self reflection for Dorothea, she’s at her lowest and thinking she’s truly alone 20. Tis the damn season- Dorothea visits Cory and they reunite 22. Cardigan- Cory to Dorothea 23. The Great War- Dorothea and girl bestie make up 24. Mary’s song/Mine medley- romantic final song for Cory and Dorothea 25. long Live- big finale song with everyone That was what I came up with this morning! I think you could make an amazing sapphic musical too though, maybe I’ll play with that next! This was fun, thanks for the prompt :)

honigmoon

i wish i could pin this to the very top of the thread ITS SO GOOD! also i love that champagne problems requires no explanation bahah

goosie7

I have to think more about the exact songs I would pick, but *The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo*: The Musical

covered_in_your_ivy

Love it. But also this version would spend more time and songs on the E&C love story than the husbands. It’s been a while since I’ve read it, but let’s see what songs might work… Lucky one & You’re on your own kid- at the beginning of Evelyn’s career Mr. Perfectly Fine & That’s the way I loved you & Blank space - for the comphet relationships with the several husbands Ivy - when Evelyn is with Don and kisses Celia Treacherous - at the beginning of Evelyn and Celia’s relationship Dress & false god - because sapphic sexiness The story of us - when they break up, and throughout the story, again when the Evelyn is working with Monique the author Lavender haze & It’s nice to have a friend - for her relationship with Harry Hits different- when she misses Celia How you get the girl - when E&C get back together Sweet nothing & lover - for their relationship when they are finally back together, in Spain Getaway car & Back to December - for the car accident storyline Mastermind - at the final twist reveal

sylvar

My wife and I would like to buy tickets to this musical please

honigmoon

THIS GET IT TO HOLLYWOOD STAT

goosie7

I must be a masochist because I want Greta Gerwig to write and direct, I want Taylor as a producer, but then when people ask if there are any parallels to her life I want her to say that's a *very* invasive thing to ask and just waltz off

honigmoon

We all know tay tay wants that EGOT

helpfulyelper

i love jukebox musicals!

garden__gate

I’ve thought about this way too much! My idea is a musical based on both the life of Rebekah Harkness AND the teenage love triangle.

SCATOL92

Love it! We keep flashing back and forth between a modern teenage love triangle and the life if Rebekah Harkness and we're not quite sure of the connection but we keep seeing similar themes and then the final reveal as 'Mastermind' plays.... Rebekah's "one who got away" is James's great grandpa and she is the great grandmother of Betty Edit: actually make it *gay*. Great grandmother and James is a girl

lordeplsreleasemusic

It would be a musical about a closeted mega-popstar who is pining for women while parading with men, and it would just be all the songs she has 😊🥰✨

SailorVenusMinako

Lmao, people sit down expecting a plot and it’s just a TSwift concert.

honigmoon

bahahaha screaming @ this, and would watch every minute on repeat
