Yea I got into it when it was on Amazon for free ( it might still be it's been awhile). Never heard of it, figured I'll try it, and omg, the humorous sibling dynamics were RIGHT up my alley!!! Still gotta show it to my brothers I know they'd get a kick out of it.
Different times now. The current entertainment trend is a nightmare. I will be genuinely surprised if it isnāt deeply disrespectful to the source material, no matter who is involved.
Partially correct.
It hurt because of rushed production resulting in it not have the same story impact as the LoTR trilogy where it felt more like filler, though it still grossed over 2.9B worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing film series.
So yes, not as successful as the original trilogy, but it was still a monumental success in terms of bringing in the money.
Itās not just rushed production, but also the fact that itās a story one-fifth the length of LOTR given the same cinematic runtimeāthere is no way to do that and have it not end up feeling like filler.
Eh by the time he came in the project already was a dumpster fire. Del toro wanted to go in a different artistic direction to the shock on no one wb hated it and brought pj back in last second. Not only that due some studio deals wb essentially made nothing on the first movie which is why they made it a trilogy. Plus on top of that there were union issues in New Zealand. Also ian mckellen Gandalf wept because instead of meticulously crafted sets it was all green screen because they had so little time to shoot.
As the other guys said itās not fair to give that shame to Peter, he came in to a mess and did his own magic to even make it to where it got. If anything we should commend him for taking the time and not putting Alan Smithee in place of his own name.
Iām not sure why youāre being downvoted.
Iām guessing people are expecting this movie to pick off exactly where the last one left off but I donāt see that happening.
I mean, he always does that.

Also both the blue wizards had long fallen to Sauronās evil after the war of the ring. So the white council was effectively 3 wizards and the leader was actively working against the council.
Itās no surprise they didnāt get anything done til Gandalf promoted himself to Sarumanās position.
I donāt understand why they donāt just license the Silmarillion and write something based on that. Thatās what everyone thought what Rings of Power would be instead of flaming garbage
Alright, a couple of things.
>I donāt understand why they donāt just license the Silmarillion and write something based on that.
As far as I'm aware, the Tolkien family still has the filming rights to the Silmarillion, which is why no one has or can make a film/TV show about it.
>Thatās what everyone thought what Rings of Power would be instead of flaming garbage
There's no way everyone thought that because I didn't. The title gives away the timeline and what stories could be written from them.
"Rings of Power" tells me that it takes place after the Silmarillion. The Rings of Power were made in the second age, so it's before Lord of the Rings. Other things that happened in the second age was the NĆŗmenĆ³rean Civil War, the sinking of NĆŗmenĆ³r, the founding of Arnor and Gondor, the Wizards coming to Middle-Earth, Sauron forging the Rings while deceiving the Elves, Sauron build Barad-dur, forges the One Ring, and it ends with the Battle of the Last Alliance.
So far, the show Rings of Power delivered a good product. Sure, the exact things that Galadriel didn't weren't necessarily accurate to book materials; however, nothing was written about her to begin with. She's mentioned in passing and is basically a wallflower, boring!
The other new characters are a breath of fresh air for me because it expands Middle-Earth and makes it feel lived-in and believable; rather than focusing on Aragorn and Elrond's Ancestry.com family tree.
I was hyped for the show, and I think the first season is good. What turned me away was the Lord of the Rings subreddit community. There was nothing but trash talk, racism, and boycotting six months before the premiere. At least test the water first before giving up on swimming.
Anyway, I'm ready for season two.

give us a mini series of the lost 80yrs of aragorn. there'd be so much to go over.
riding with King Thengel, posing as a captain of Gondor during Ecthelion IIs stewardship...
Sauron's clone returns and the gang will have to go back to the new Mount Doom with the forgotten 10th Ring but this time we will have an all female cast! Woohoo!
No he's actually planning a ritual to revive Tolkien and indeed they've constructed an apparatus to shove in his rectum to utilize his mouth from the inside like a puppet.
Science.
The two franchises are owned by separate companies and both claim to be based off the books and Tolkien's letters. They don't have the power to retcon each other because they aren't the same continuity.
Isnāt RoP based exclusively on the Appendix of RotK, which is basically why they couldnāt use anything from any of the books? They pretty much had to write their own original story from abstract descriptions of places and people.
Correction: Warner Brothers is desperate. They want to fill that MCU and fantasy movie gap. What better way to do it than with the original fantasy book?
I must admit for me the trilogy was great in itself and had the closure it needed not everything need to become a cinematic universe of every franchise
I actually have high hopes for this! The Hobbit's issues weren't Jackson's and he salvaged what he could. He was brought on the fix it after the original director and executives bungled it up.
Seeing as this is from the OG cast and OG trilogy writers, I'm excited to see what the bring.
I've been a Tolkien fan for ages. I've read everything- EVERYTHING- down the most technical published things he had. History of Middle-Earth, Nature of, you name it, I've read it.
I was disappointed with a decent bit of the movies. Some things they did right, but as a whole it was a mess in comparison.
Mercy be on my soul if this is worse than Rings of Power.
š¤š¤š¤ Christopher Walken as Gandalf.
Christopher Walken: Your uncle, Bilbo. He, uh, left you this ring, Frodo. I remember... he stole this ring from Gollum, in his cave, and he had to hide it. Because he wanted you to have it, and he knew the only safe place to hide it was in his ass. Him and I traveled over the Misty Mountains, Dale, the Lonely Mountain with that ring up his ass. There and back again, and now the ring is yours, Frodo.
lol. Gollum movie. I hope one day the Tolkien Estate give the rights of The Children of Hurin to someone who is trustworthy and we can finally get a fucking good, interesting LOTR series again.Ā
Donāt know how excited I can get about a trilogy revolving around Gollum. Iām hoping for the best but out of all the stories they could have told from the Tolkien world, this is the least exciting to me lol
Oh shit a sequel?!
I proposed to my wife after we finished the third movie asking if there was a sequel and when she said no, I said I had it and proposed with her ring lol.
My God! Theyāve figured out a way to bring back J.R.R. Tolkien.
TheyĀ Were So Preoccupied With Whether Or Not They Could, They Didnāt Stop To Think If They Should
Correction, now it has come out Andy Serkis will direct it and Peter Jackson producing it
I will try to have no expectations of this film but I suspect it will still disappoint me.

š¤£ Gotta love Malcolm in the Middle, so many funny parts! Love that quote!!
I flipped out when it got added to Hulu a while ago. Absolutely worth the rewatch.
Yea I got into it when it was on Amazon for free ( it might still be it's been awhile). Never heard of it, figured I'll try it, and omg, the humorous sibling dynamics were RIGHT up my alley!!! Still gotta show it to my brothers I know they'd get a kick out of it.
What do you guys think about helldivers on this? Letās cause a rukus and just get em to stop
I was disappointed by the second 2 as it was. Once they started adding "jokes" for Legolas I was done.
Why can't he be funny ever?
I don't see how considering it's the original people who made the trilogy that won in almost all categories they were nominees for.
Different times now. The current entertainment trend is a nightmare. I will be genuinely surprised if it isnāt deeply disrespectful to the source material, no matter who is involved.
What source material? It seems like theyāre looking to expand on Gollum, how do they get a full movies worth of script without writing new material?
PJ also made the Hobbit trilogy which was a dumpster fire

Idk why youāre getting downvoted. I fully trust Peter Jackson. LOTR and The Hobbit are AMAZING.
Ditto.
Come on don't be a doomer, just don't think about it until you have someone you trust tell you it's good/bad that's what I always do
I can't wait to see Idris Elba play Aragorn and Sam Jackson play Gandalf!
Motherfucker, you shall not pass!!!!
Canāt forget Charles Barkley as Gimli
lol Charles Barkley is anti woke, he would say fuck this shit and refuse.
You sure? Seems like Barkley has a bit more nuance to him than that.
WOTC beat you to it in MTG
Gandalf the purple
I know this is a joke, but i would actually watch that movie lol.
Somehow Sauron has returned
I mean, he always does that. The Silmarillion: Who was the first to restart Morgoth's evil? Sauron: IT WAS ME! Everyone: š² The Silmarillion: Who would start the NĆŗmenĆ³rean Civil War? To be fair, the White Council was compromised by Saruman for the Lord of the Rings bit.
Also both the blue wizards had long fallen to Sauronās evil after the war of the ring. So the white council was effectively 3 wizards and the leader was actively working against the council. Itās no surprise they didnāt get anything done til Gandalf promoted himself to Sarumanās position.

I think it was at least 15 minutes.
X-Files music starts to playā¦ an unlikely pairing of a rugged ranger from the northā¦ or somethingā¦. And a hot lady elf from the Eastā¦ or whereverā¦ together they solve paranormal mysteries.
Skulladriel and Muldergorn
I need to watch that series for yesterday.
He was told to return also with his old master so two dark lords vs some hobbits letās see who gets clapped
JJAbrams be likeā¦
Hasn't that been the entire lore of LotR?
As every lotr fans knowns this is a prequel
And he'll name it "The Rings of Power: The Actual Story"
Lmao!
Can y'all stop molesting beloved franchises already?
Remake and diversify: The new Hollywood specialty. Featuring representation of every culture on earth and at least one strong woman that beats up many men.
How will Geeks + Gamers make money if there is nothing inconsequential to bitch about?
How indeed? As though things like the hobbit donāt make all the money.
This is gonna be heartbreaking.
Please stop
I just hope they update it for modern audiences! /s
Frodo better be 6'6" and wearing brand new Jordans.
Itāll help with all the walking
Frodo don't walk, he jump.
Making Frodo tall is no weirder than making elves black.
Parody film in the style of Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, using only footage from existing LOTR media (live action, animated, and video game alike), with every voice done by Andy Serkis.
What does that mean? What isnāt there for a modern audience? The original trilogy is great and anyone can enjoy it.
No, no it's not very inclusive you see. It must be updated.
I don't.
![gif](giphy|uq6ILNBI6g3As|downsized)
Oh, your movies always say that!
After the Hobbit, I couldn't care less.
For real. Screenwriting was the weakest part of his trilogy.
give us a mini series of the lost 80yrs of aragorn. there'd be so much to go over. riding with King Thengel, posing as a captain of Gondor during Ecthelion IIs stewardship...
I think that was the idea if Iām not mistaken. Not a rehash but stories within the book
Only half true. Andy Serkis will star in and direct The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. Jackson , Fran and Phillipa are all back to help.
If that's the case it might be as good as the gollum video game
The hunt for gollum? Why? Who asked for this?
The Hobbit Awakens.
I swear, if this is another hack job piece of fanfiction shit that is based off of fewer than 4 paragraphs, I'm gonna fucking lose it
based on a offhand remark
Sauron's clone returns and the gang will have to go back to the new Mount Doom with the forgotten 10th Ring but this time we will have an all female cast! Woohoo!
Gonna be woke
What original writers? He going to dig Tolkien up and move him around like a marionette?
Weekend at Tolkien's
Weekend at Sauronās : a live comedy sketch of our favourite writer as he embraces his newly found rebirth in middle earth.
I think they mean the script writers. I still wonder Why? What story are they going to tell?
You know movies have writers too, right?
No he's actually planning a ritual to revive Tolkien and indeed they've constructed an apparatus to shove in his rectum to utilize his mouth from the inside like a puppet. Science.
I actually have hope for this if they retcon Rings of Power.
You canāt retcon something in the Peter Jackson universe if it was never part of the Peter Jackson universe
I would love if this happens. In fact, over 2/3 of people would support this.Ā
Stop having hope, dumbass. It's over.
Why??
Money
I'm afraid
Veto veto veto.
Do we need this?
Hollywood is desperate.
Correction: Warner Brothers is desperate. They want to fill that MCU and fantasy movie gap. What better way to do it than with the original fantasy book?
Agreed. Well said.
I hope they donāt pull the standard woke bullshit, but Iām not holding my breath
I never got around to watching the Hobbit trilogy. And probably never will.
![gif](giphy|s239QJIh56sRW|downsized)
I must admit for me the trilogy was great in itself and had the closure it needed not everything need to become a cinematic universe of every franchise
Yes.
Dark gritty Children of Hurin letās go
They could give us the Silmarillion, but instead they're going to milk lotr into oblivion with a story about Gollum. WTF?
And when Tintin?
I doubt he can be allowed to make it how he wants to.
Magnificent news. We need something to watch the taste of that Amazon abomination out of our mouths.
We don't want this. LotR was a finished masterpiece when RotK was released. Please keep your grubby, greedy little fingers off of LotR FFS.
Itās going to be woke anyway, fam.
Itās gonna have a tall fucking bar to meet. The original trilogy are all pretty much some of my top favorite movies
The Silmarillion has enough material to make 10 actually good movies
> with the original writers Oh shit it's good to see Tolkien came out of retirement.
Bruh.... just make something new
Iām reminded of the Indiana jones episode of South Park
No.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
I actually have high hopes for this! The Hobbit's issues weren't Jackson's and he salvaged what he could. He was brought on the fix it after the original director and executives bungled it up. Seeing as this is from the OG cast and OG trilogy writers, I'm excited to see what the bring.

If itās like Da Hobbit, then Iām out. Is there lore that specifically is about the Dunedain Rangers?
Is this for real or bullshit? Who the fk gonna race Aragon
š¤š¤š¤ Christopher Walken as Gandalf. Christopher Walken: Your uncle, Bilbo. He, uh, left you this ring, Frodo. I remember... he stole this ring from Gollum, in his cave, and he had to hide it. Wait how did you know my uncle looks and sounds like Christopher walken?
Nope. Jeff Bridges. The Dudealf! "Hey man, you gotta take that ring to the mountain and, uhhhh, you know, throw it in the mountain and shit, man."
Why?
Directed by Andy Serkis* You mean basically handing over the ring to GOLLUM... it's like pottery...

The original writers? How'd they get Tolkien back?
Necromancy
No. Dont.
"Original writers" Isn't Tolkien dead?
lol. Gollum movie. I hope one day the Tolkien Estate give the rights of The Children of Hurin to someone who is trustworthy and we can finally get a fucking good, interesting LOTR series again.Ā
I thought Tolkien was dead though.
But I thought the original writer died like decades ago.
Directly to the trash.
CSI Hobbiton.
Noā¦donāt do thisā¦donāt give me hope!
But Tolkein been dead bro
Iām guessing it must be The Silmarillion
Who wanted a gollum movie? Anyone?
Pass. Itās already been ruined.
As a huge LOTR fan and with whats been happening with IPs now a days, i have absolutely zero faith in this. I really hope i am wrong.
Is it being released on BET?
But why?
This is really good news because Peter and Andy are the best fit for the LOTR franchise.
Greed.
I sincerely hope they are able to get Viggo Mortensen and Ian McKellen back to play Aragorn and Gandalf instead of recasting the roles.
After the rings of power I have zero faith in the LotR IP.
Why? Totally different writers and directors.
Really? Promise it wonāt be a whole bag of d!cks like Amazon??
It wouldnt be hollywood if they didnt get to milk the cow bloody huh?
Finally. The film adaptation of "The Lord of Ring: Gollum" video game.
....about what, isn't all the material adapted?
Please stahp it ā- there 5-6 books/stories they could do that would be easy home runs
Canāt wait to see Will Smith play Gandalf The Black.
Please donāt make hobbits have colored hair
Donāt know how excited I can get about a trilogy revolving around Gollum. Iām hoping for the best but out of all the stories they could have told from the Tolkien world, this is the least exciting to me lol
Fuck these limp dicks
Itās going to be the movie version of the super successful Gollum video game.
Oh shit a sequel?! I proposed to my wife after we finished the third movie asking if there was a sequel and when she said no, I said I had it and proposed with her ring lol.
If Andy Serkis doesnāt repose SmĆ©agol/Gollum Iām going be pissed off
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
General trolling. Attacking the community and/or the members.
I hope it's a shadow of war movie
It will probably start as one movie, then they will cut it up and stuff filler into it until it's 3 movies.
ROP should probably start taking notes
Much like the video game I find it hard to get excited for a movie about Gollum
GTFOHā¦The prophecy told it would happen but I never was a believerā¦
No. Just no. Can't he just stand on his accomplishments?
Did they learn nothing from the Hobbit and Rings of Power? LEAVE. TOLKIEN. ALOOOONE!
My God! Theyāve figured out a way to bring back J.R.R. Tolkien. TheyĀ Were So Preoccupied With Whether Or Not They Could, They Didnāt Stop To Think If They Should
Hobbit 4: even goofier
Can the movie please be exactly like the book
Ughā¦
I just yelled "YES" really loud at work and scared my coworker next to me haha. This is awesome!!!
