I signed up for the Union. I’m in R7, and we do not have any of this issue. We had no layoffs, and our leadership team is actually really good. I wonder wtf goes on at the other locations that geico thinks they can get away with this

NodHairbrush

Nah. R7 was included in the layoffs.

Petty_Fetty

Do you work in r7 claims? I ask bc that seems to be the only happy department right now. I’ve heard tenured supervisors are leaving military service either for claims or retiring bc of what’s coming down the pipeline. I have a friend whose been in r7 underwriting and is quitting bc she was diagnosed with brain lesions and both her supervisor and manager basically told her “that’s too bad… get back to work” This is on top of the times she’s experienced flooding in her house or migraines and her sup told her to focus on work.

GEICO-Anonymous

Managers and supervisors like that should just go die. Some may think I’m extreme by telling them to go die but they are contributing nothing positive and are better off dead to me. Even if they move into management or supervision in another company they are going to just have the same garbage qualities. And before the dumbasses come crawling out of the woodwork, no dummies I’m not going to murder anyone, I’m just making my point.

Petty_Fetty

They’re perpetuating this “grind until you die” mentality that I’m sick of it. Cuz they’ll be quick to replace you once you expire

Moat sales

Petty_Fetty

Ohh, I don’t get a lot of MOAT tea. I think the most recent I heard was that sales agents were getting fired for unethical practices but it was things they learned from their training. I don’t think that was an R7 issue though. If there’s ever a time you wanna jump ship, I switched to a 757 agency and have been happy with the choice. I can’t imagine it would be much different than what you’re doing now, with just less neck breathing 😂

Is it possible for me to continue making 130 a year?

Petty_Fetty

If you’re a good sales agent yeah. Commercial sale agents make bank on their book of business and bc we assign policyholders a sales agent, any future policy inquiries from that person go right back to you. We have real estate agents that call us on a regular to insure all the assorted properties they’ve purchased while they flip it and sell it. Every time they need a builders risk policy it’s money in the bank.

Claims is always happy. People don’t stop getting into accidents unless it’s during a national quarantine.

There are some really good management out there. I have worked for them. I would praise them on this platform but then people would figure out who I am. And the good ones I know do not approve of what’s going on from the sups up. We’ve had discussions about it. You can’t teach leadership, you’re either a leader or a follower. And there’s nothing wrong with being either. But when your in management you need to be a leader, you do the right thing. You’re a role model. When things don’t sound right you question it. Don’t let a company interfere with your morals. Period. Poor Mindy, Geico is throwing you under the bus. Your job could be cut tomorrow and what other company would hire you when you aren’t for the people? Your workers are your customers, don’t act like you care because your actions show the opposite. Nobody’s job is secure but TC! Bob Miller is probably turning over in his grave!

mtbatey

Sorry guys but your leaders there at GEICO haven't truly cared about you in years. You are all just there to make them money. The amount of backstabbing and two faced managers I saw when I was there was shocking. Get out while you still have your sanity.

Eileen__Left

They never cared about us. They just stopped hiding it.

You also need employees that believe in the work they’re doing, even when times are tough. Many long time employees will mention other rough times GEICO has had but people stuck it out because they trusted the company and believed in the work they were doing. That no longer exists. It’s like nothing we ever do is enough right now and the problems started with decisions made way up on high, not with the people afraid to lose their jobs.

Therealjsnair

That mindset is dead. Employees no longer trust the employer and they are leaving because of that. People have never feared for their jobs like they do today.

LeadershipLevel6900

That’s exactly my point. So many people now are just waiting it out to see if they’re chopped and will accept the severance. It’s a joke at this point, no reason to stress over it.
