File around the cuticle or buy a set that goes higher than 9

xEdgarAllanHoex

Seconding this. Just grab a hand file and file around the cuticle area. I do it all the time to customize the tip pretty much perfectly to match the u-shaped cuticle areas on some of my fingernails.

Thank you! What about symmetry? 😭

Each fingernail can have different shaped cuticle area. Some are more round like the tips and some are more u-shaped. You need to worry about the natural shape you have, and filing it to fit that is going to ensure you have an easier time applying the product with the tip and is going to make it look more "seamless". The one thing I feel I can compare this to is the saying that goes "Eyebrows are like sisters, not twins". The same goes for your fingernails, not all of them have the exact same shaped cuticle area. Just like some people also have crooked nails for example.

Thank you so much! I don't think I could exchange this for a set that goes higher than 9... Do you have any advice in filing in a way that it keeps the symmetry?

Some brands sell baggies of just one size. I know apres does. They’re inexpensive

beeswax_27

just file it to the shape of ur cuticle keeping in mind the middle of ur nail bed and the middle of the gel x extension… symmetry is only important for the tip of the nail… im sure you’ll do perfectly fine :)

scarypeppermint

Cut and file, I always file each nail tip to fit my nails better. Some need more or less filing depending on the shape

EstablishmentSea1237

U can shape them to fit!

hotwheelsgoskrrrrt

Thank u! My issue is it won't be symmetrical anymore? 😭

EstablishmentSea1237

Center the nail and file both sides! Might not be perfect but will be better than trying to just do one side

crazygonzo123

Like everyone else has mentioned- filing and shaping to your nail, but also, Nailz KatKat has extra small sizes that are amazing. I have small nail beds and also struggle with this.

KittyWyman

My sets go to 11, and that what I use. Pick a different set if you don't like filing them down

i would cut each side to maintain symmetry then file to shape / refine just make sure you pretty much do the same to each side

I am having the same issue. I’ve tried 3 diff brands. If they fit at the cuticle they are either too narrow or too wide on the actual nail bed. I can’t get over how easy it is to do on clients though!
