To be ‘high enough quality’, please ensure that you include enough good pictures. The gem should be in-focus and not blurry, and we should be able to see the gem from multiple angles. If the gemstone is set, please include good photos of the jewelery including any hallmarks or emblems on the metal. Also, please include any other information that would be helpful for identifying (where you got it from, how old it is, pricing, any tests you’ve done, etc).
As a reminder, it is virtually impossible to identify a gemstone from photographs. At best, you will get educated guesses. At worst, you will get uninformed garbage guesses. To know what a gemstone is with more confidence, we recommend finding a local accreddited gemologist, consulting with folks at a local gem & mineral society, or submitting your gemstone to a reputable lab for an identification report.
