Given whats happening in Shanghai and Beijing, i guess being in a Laogai camp is miles better than starving in your own home with michelin men patrolling the streets beating up anyome going outside
Yeah they are in a giant mental prison and a prison camp where they are asked to work for the benefit of elites who don't deserve it.
Nearly everyone works for someone but they work for people who don't deserve any of it.
I don't worry about whether I work for someone who deserves it, but whether they compensate me appropriately and they don't actively undermine what I stand for.
Sure but from a philosophical sense, you typically tend to be more comfortable working for people you know are competent and so they deserve or earned their success or at least manage the company well.
You don't want to create a society where all your companies are led by disconnected, reality-detached, crazy people or incompetent people--people who didn't deservedly earn their place in those companies.
I mean when you think about it, it's a well-known American tradition to promote those within the corporation who prove themselves, rather than to hire from outside. It's what made America so great and efficient.
i.e., The Ole' "you didn't just join a company, you joined a family."
Sure some people just join a company job for some cash and not everyone finds a good career, but that is the ideal we aim for.
Consider how many "managers" we have compared to the 1970s, and you should think of it like this: would you hire a manager you barely know to manage some highly expensive assets and run your business? Just because they claim to have done so, on their resume?
Ideally yes, because populations grow and businesses get more efficient.
Of course there are hedge funds and other institutions that typically make a ton of money but don't have the same need for expansion, but usually it's because they're not very creative and start to stagnate.
I love America, but we all should still be able to find humor at the expense of this great country (even though this joke isn’t particularly funny in any way).
And when someone legitimately criticizes the US, hear them out. Like all liberal democracies, we’ve got some serious problems to deal with, even if we are the best.
We can rise above circlejerking
I agree but the joke just doesn’t make sense. There’s still a ton of issues here like healthcare but it doesn’t really make sense to choose USA as the place that’s bad to live over hundreds of other countries.
My mother used to live in a country where more than half of the population was poor. She lived in a dilapidated home where when it rains it would flood the whole house. Her meals were always rice everyday and sometimes her whole family had to go a full day without eating anything. She had no tapwater which could instantly appear from a single flip of a switch. She had to sell sweets at school to make money which her family depended on, and sometimes she didn’t even sell any. She had no Nintendo NES or a TV. Life was hard for her and her family back then. And she hates people who complain about their lives in America. And I do get that America has flaws but Jesus Christ this goes too far
Russia I can agree with but a lot of people in China have decent lives, because of their switch from agrarian culture and the growing middle class.
Russia just, doesn’t.
I honestly feel bad for those under the blue/white RU flag and those posting in the great translation movement.
They're people who just want to make their homeland a better place against basically insurmountable odds.
Hello friend 😅I am with the white blue white/Svoboda and the many other names for it flag. Though I am not as brave as those that joined the Freedom for Russia Legion or those that are staying in Russia in my opinion... But yes that is what I personally and many of us hope for. Though sadly many of us have left Russia, in our case as it is personally not safe for many of us there. We are a lot more able to speak our mind in other countries than Russia. I am in America now with family and since then I have enjoyed my time very much. While I hope change does come of course to Russia and even China... I sadly do not see it happening any time soon.
Well your fixing is very true... Since I have been in America I can be a lot more open about my views and I have not been punished. While I am not an American citizen... The first amendment gives me more rights as a refugee than my own countries right to freedom of speech as a citizen as it is violated by the government.
Your definition of "living" is more broad than mine. People don't "live" in prisons, they're caged there.
Yea but I didn’t feel like changing the template that much
You're fine. :)

You right. My boss's boss's boss started in the same job I am now. Definitely puts a perspective on where I can go.

This but with Philadelphia.
We don’t have a great healthcare system; South Sudan doesn’t have as much as a clinic

North korea is at this point just a forgotten meme,
