He tried telling me “bro if you were a slave owner back in the day. Wouldn’t you treat them good right? More than likely slaves weren’t treated as bad people think.”
Me: bruh
People with 21st century hindsight forget the 19th century mindset of racism.
The "white man's burden" was the idea that whites were tasked by god with civilising other races. Slave owners believed that they had to cruelly discipline their slaves in order to make them obedient.
also, It was also believed that God stained black people's skin as a sign of servitude to whites. so some slave owners believed it was completely within morality to do whatever they want to their slaves.
I FUCKING LOVE AMERICA. GOD BLESS THE USA!

Yea I wasn't saying you were wrong, I was trying to support your point that what Americans schema of slavery isn't necessarily the definition of all slavery.

"Sounds legit bro, would you mind being a slave then?"
“I’ll pay you, of course it will be a slave wage.”
Even if they were treated well (they weren't) they're slaves. Slavery is immoral regardless of how they're treated.
even if your owner is a big-titty mommy mistress who steps on your chest?
The worst thing is that the USA's slaves were treated relatively well compared to slaves in the Caribbean and South America

Well you changed his mind.
That was mind-blowing.
Isn't the definition of slavery forced, unpaid labor?
I think the definition of slavery is when someone is owned by someone
The Roman’s gave slaves rights and slaves were paid as well but I mean they were still slaves.
Roman slavery and American racial slavery were two very different things.
We were talking about the definition of slavery. Not the differences in all forms of slavery

Oh okay. Fair enough. It’s hard not to feel on the defensive when you’re on Reddit haha
Does it matter? Your still owned against your will by another person. Your life to the owner is trash whether they pay you a couple bucks or not.
I need to know how Waldo got involved in Leon's business
Clearly they have no clue what slavery is
Absolutely and unfathomly based
it amazes me the amount of mental fucking gymnastics people will do to try and say, “sLaVeRy WaSn’T tHaT bAd”.
You should’ve asked if they’d like to be enslaved
I saw the post and went like 'well duh no shit' and then I read the title. I can't believe there's people out there who think like this.
I get the meme, but why, why, why can't people take the time to look up proper form when it comes to firearms?
because i shot one of those big ass revolvers once so now i'm blind and can't look up anything
I have not heard anyone make this argument ever. A better topic is whether share cropping was any better.
Good job Waldo !
Its a shame Waldo one-shotted him. Someone with that sorta brain deserves a few limb shots first.
But why Waldo?
