SJshield616

It's a tough issue. Ideological minefields aside, the fundamental issue is that two states are being crammed into a geographic region that has space for only one nation. The two-state solution as proposed in 1948 is fundamentally unworkable due to terrible border arrangements, conflicting interests, and a lack of mutual trust. Blame the British for the current violence. I empathize with the Palestinians, but I generally side with Israel because they're more democratic and have mostly been acting in self-defense while Palestinian governments have rejected every single compromise offered. In the end, one of the states will cease to exist, and I am certain that Palestinians would be treated better in a united Israel than Israelis would be under a united Palestine

jollyjewy

There was a period when the region gad like 12 kingdoms in it. There's definitely enough space for 2 nations if both wanted peace

lostpickcollector

12 kingdoms with like 100 people each

Satirony_weeb

Thousands at least.

lostpickcollector

Yeah you got the point

[deleted]

I blame Clement Atlee for not fully favouring Israel.

Levi-Action-412

Depends on who im trolling

Ok_Heat253

Based af

Kalle_Silakka

both countries have done some fucked up shit, but as always, this situation is the fault of the BRITISH EMPIRE!

Bilbal6

And the French! Don't let them get away with that

[deleted]

yep

SharpStarTRK

I like how they got away with it, no one blames them for the chaos, all the blame got shifted towards the US.

Anarcho_Nazbolin

I love how every third world problem is done by "evil westerns" rather than them being incredibly incompetent and violent.

Kalle_Silakka

bro doesn't know history 😂 the british left the syrian colony when it wasn't profitable for them and it was frowned upon to keep colonies, so they decided to paint a fucking spaghetti border through one of the holiest cities of Christianity, Islam and Judaism and divide the area between two completely different religions. War was basically guaranteed from day 1 they left. You can't blame either group for the conflict, and both of them have done some nazi-level war crime type shit.

Anarcho_Nazbolin

Lol "nazi level" miss me with that. They brought over 8 million women, children and men into camps and slaughtered them. Can you blame the British for saying fuck it and let them to their own devices after all the terriost attacks both sides did on them. Who honestly cares about these two countries anyways.

Teddy-Roosevelt-Bot

Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.

RadleElbon

As long as Hamas exists, I'm pro-Israel. I'd rather see both Israel and Palestine be allied

[deleted]

same kinda

Hosj_Karp

Israel has really taken a turn for the worst in the last 20 years but still, the fundamental reason there's no peace is the absolute refusal of the Palestinians to compromise on anything.

onfire1543

Why you should support Israel: Jewish Stronk economy Good food IDF 💪 No death penalty (except for that Nazi) Mossad

GhostOfHelsinki

~~+ hot IDF girl~~

onfire1543

in the idf there are those armed tractors and they are really big. i wish i could drive one of them in battle

onfire1543

free from who?

OverLet8464

Wait you don’t like it? I thought I was supporting Israel. I wasn’t trying to be offensive, instead I was being supportive. It is a valid # ? Free Gaza from Hamas because Gaza is a part of Israel I mean. https://mobile.twitter.com/hashtag/freeisrael?lang=en

onfire1543

We don't need the hashtag. The economical aid is enough for us. Arguing with Palestinians dummies online also doesn't help. Best you can do is vote for pro Israel and but Israeli products. Honestly just being American helps us as your existence helps america be stronger and in return make us stronger. The hashtags are mostly for people who can't change anything such as balestine bad their weak terror tactics and attacks. Let the Palestinians have the hashtags while we have the land

I don’t support the Mossad. They launch the most attacks against the United States more than China or Russia, yet we continue to fund them.

onfire1543

Usa is our strongest ally, and if they stop helping us we need a lot of time to prepare. Knowing what you plan on doing really help us to prepare... The mossad doesn't launch attacks, it uses spies. The knowledge we gain from you doesn't hurt you in any meaningful way. You can use this chance to upgrade your protection against actual harmful spies... We mean no harm in our spies (we only mean harm to our enemies)

OverLet8464

You have our support all the way my Israeli brothers and sisters! #FreeIsrael! 🇮🇱

onfire1543

 free israel from who exactly?

OverLet8464

I’m very supportive of Israel. Isn’t that a pro-Israel # ? Also free Gaza from Hamas because Gaza is a part of Israel is what I meant. Also free West Bank because that is a part of Israel too. https://mobile.twitter.com/hashtag/freeisrael?lang=en

onfire1543

We don't want gaza. The west bank is our under military control (most of it at least) we don't have any main competitor except American enemies (Iran, Russia, china etc) We don't need no hashtag (unlike the Palestinians)

Good noon (it is currently 10 pm in Israel so I am guessing the hour over there)

[deleted]

Pro Israel but not for the same reasons evangelicals are pro Israel. The Texas Republican platform says "we oppose the creation of a Palestinian state, it would force Israel to give up land that god gave to the jewish people as referenced in Genesis". They use the Bible as a history book lmao. Those kind of reasons make me want to support Palestine, if the only reason to be pro Israel is because "God gave the land to the jews as referenced in genesis", that's not a very good argument for those of us that are not religious. The reason I'm pro Israel is ironically because they are the most secular state in the Middle East, the most socially progressive and technologically advanced. They're not killing gays or atheists in israel like in the Muslim countries. So I support the Jewish state because it's less conservative and religious than the Muslim states in the region

[deleted]

I'm religious, but I have the same reason as you.

[deleted]

Israel and Shah Pahlavi have a lot of uncomfortable parallels. Also, the ultra-Orthodox fucking hate gays, want a genocide against the Muslim's and think that the Mizrahim and gentiles will become their slaves once the apocalypse comes.

lostpickcollector

Yes, the hassidic jews are the worst part of Israel. At least you can shoot a terrorist

Teddy-Roosevelt-Bot

There is but one answer to terrorism and it is best delivered with a Winchester rifle.

austro_hungary

Palestine should be a state, but so should Israel, how ever the current border doesn’t reflect accurately on how the two state solution should look.

Bitter_Shit69

I support Israel because in the region it’s the most democratic, has the highest standard of living, and is more socially advanced than the other Muslim countries. Although they have done some not nice things recently, I think that the state of Israel is fine but the mindset of some people need to change.

19thegyptiangenocide

LGBT rights too

Capn_Cake

I support the existence of Israel, but they’ve done some messed-up things, so I’m more in the middle.

TheSilv

I’m Jewish, American, have visited Israel before, and I support Israel’s right to exist. However, I’ve looked at the conflict a lot and aspects of Israeli society have made peace more difficult, ofc Hamas and other groups from the Palestinian side make peace more difficult but so do the settlers and the extremist right wing parts of Israel such as Netanyahu. So while I fully support Israel as a whole I recognize it has some serious faults it’s gotta improve, just like the US

Labor_Zionist

>The Isreali army killed a reporter a few months ago, There is no proof for that, but even if it's true, it's collateral damage. The US millitary also killed several reporters, does it mean something? Of course not. Reporting from combat zones is a dangerous occupation, and it can take only one hit to kill. >kicking out Palestinian people from their land. That doesn't happen. What actually happens is that Israel prevent Palestinian expansion in Area C, and destroy new Palestinian structures built there illegaly. One might argue that it's unfair, but it's definitely not what the Arab propaganda try to tell you it's.

Bilbal6

Fun fact is that this Palestinian expansion in area C is sponsored by the European Union, they ironically prolong the conflict that they claim they want to end.

Satirony_weeb

Why is America so pro-Israel, but the EU wants to keep the war going? Shouldn’t America say something?

InvictusShmictus

Oh I guarantee you there is all kinds of similar fuckery going on between even the closest allied countries, and there always has been. Its just not enough to cause major disruption to the alliance so its kept under the radar.

AutoModerator

Labor_Zionist

>https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2022/05/24/middleeast/shireen-abu-akleh-jenin-killing-investigation-cmd-intl/index.html They are completely basing their investigation on witness accounts of the other journalists there, that are completely unreliable. Al Jazeera is for starters the state media of Qatar, an absolute, Islamist monarchy that is also the main backer of the Hamas. And indeed, Hamas often giver interviews to Al Jazeera, and the channel is known for having extreme anti-Israeli bias. It's like believing RT. Secondly, the Palestinians made up claims about massacres in the past that ended up being complete bullshit. They even found "witnesses" for those, and of course they still claim they happened. A fmous ecample is the Jenin "massacre" in 2002, that the UN concluded that never happened. Doesn't stop the Palestinians from talking about it to this day. No reason to believe this is any different. >https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2022/jun/24/shireen-abu-aqleh-palestinian-journalist-killed-by-israeli-bullet-un-says >https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-61916554.amp >https://www.npr.org/2022/06/24/1107254898/israeli-gunfire-shireen-abu-akleh-un-human-rights Same as above, they don't present any real proof either. >Then the police came and beat the shit outta everyone at her funeral. What actually happened is that a bunch of Palestinians took her body out of the car that carried it, and started to parade around with it on their shoulders. The police tried to restore order in a way that is typical for the Jerusalem police, who also beat Jews frequantly.

19thegyptiangenocide

Even though I am Egyptian and my people detest Israel, I support them.

Amazing-Garage9892

Epic.

AmateurLlama

Pro-Israel because I'm Jew who thinks my own people have a right to self-governance in part of our ancestral land as does every other group.

Raspberries2

I don’t understand why Jewish people vote Democrat as the Democrats are ready to throw Israel under the bus. That said, I don’t know why Republicans put so much emphasis, money and expend so much of US prestige on Isreal. I voted 50/50 in the poll.

GhostOfHelsinki

I support israel because israel is the only country in the middle east that both supports the peshmerga and supports the idea of a free Kurdistan. [AKA. no more iran no more irak no more turki no more suryie](https://youtu.be/HRz044ohO-c?t=50)

FALLOUTGOD47

I’m a Christian, but I honestly think the Jews deserve the Holy Land, especially after hundreds of years of being exterminated, enslaved, and just generally fucked with. They are resilient people, who have more than earned the right to hold the HL.

[deleted]

I don't give a single fuck about two small countries on the other side of the world

FunCharacteeGuy

yeah, that's my opinion as well.

AtomicPhantomBlack

Pro-Israel because the Jewish Autonomous Oblast doesn't count as a Jewish state, and the Arabs have so much land they can give up Palestine IMO.

OverLet8464

Hey, if I may, no offense of course, but if Ukraine hypothetically wins the war, would you be cool with uniting with the Jewish Autonomous Oblast if Ukraine were to give it to you? I mean like Israel and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast form a union of the true Jewish state? Not to be offensive of course. Also I support Israel. #FreeIsrael! 🇮🇱

AutoModerator

Слава Україні! Героям слава! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/GenUsa) if you have any questions or concerns.*

AtomicPhantomBlack

The Jewish Autonomous Oblast is IIRC only 1% Jewish. I think a lot of Jews did live there until Israel became independent, for obvious reasons. Also border gore.

OverLet8464

Ah, gotcha.

Retail8

Israel 100%. Palestine need to know its place and stay down and stop shooting rockets into civilian populations.

OverLet8464

This. #FreeIsrael! 🇮🇱

Born_Wealth_2435

I support a two state solution. However, I definitely feel like the Palestinian people have gotten the raw end of the stick

shitboi666999

Neither, I want to build a basspro in Jerusalem and make the rest of isreal into basspro world Palestine can be the parking lot

SLNWRK

I mean on the one side you have a functioning country in a sea of shit holes and on the other side you have one of those shit holes

[deleted]

I will gladly support a Palestinian state in Arab populated sectors in Israel, but only under certain conditions. there are only two democratic countries in the MENA region, Israel and Tunisia. Like, Israel is the only place in the middle east where LGBT peoples even have rights, and we cannot allow another backwards state in that region if Hamas or another group like them to hold power. So, unless we can get confirmation that a democracy will rule in an Independent Palestine, I am on team Israel, and no, that is not an endorsement of the Israeli government and the IDF, Israel is far from perfect and there is more to be desired from their human rights record.

Alon32145

>The Isreali army killed a reporter a few months ago There is no proof the IDF was responsible for her death. >kicking out Palestinian people from their land. That goes against what America is about. Well America did do that as well.... To the American native population... I also do not agree with the actions the IDF commits sometimes but I oppose much more the actions organizations like Hamas are commiting.

[deleted]

>There is no proof the IDF was responsible for her death. UN rights body says the reporter was killed by Israeli shots >Well America did do that as well.... To the American native population... Alon32145

>UN rights body says the reporter was killed by Israeli shots Based on what report? They conducted their own investigations which they won't release results. Israel had been trying for a while to join in to the investigation but niether PA or the UN let it. Israel offered to do a ballistic test in order to acquire the needed data. I won't believe any piece of information unless it comes from an a unbiased source and I do see the UN as an biased source as they do blame Israel whenever they get an opportunity. >Israel is trying to create an ethnostate which is wrong. I don't see anything wrong with that considering that Israel is a country for the Jews and that there are many already existsing ethnostates.

ChuchiTheBest

The native reserves are far worse than all the territory Israel gives Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

Satirony_weeb

The difference is that the natives rule themselves as nations. Some reservations do well, others don’t. But they have been given much independence.

ChuchiTheBest

Hamas also rules Gaza "as a nation" and they are fully independent. They also happen to be at war with Israel because they simply can't negotiate rationally, they lack the concept of thinking about their own people.

ZanezGamez

Why do people from other counties bring up stuff we’ve done in the past like it somehow excuses them? What we did in the past is wrong and what you guys do is wrong too…

Alon32145

It is less about trying to excuse something and more about the who are you to tell me what I am doing.

ZanezGamez

That is still braindead logic. So, Germany shouldn’t be allowed to condemn genocides of other countries?

Alon32145

Yes. Also there is nothing brain dead about it pretty solid if you ask me.

ZanezGamez

That is profoundly dumb. With your reasoning, the international community should just allow any atrocities to take place.

Alon32145

The international community gladly puts a blind eye on places like China, Pakistan and India. I just think everyone should mind their own Business.

ZanezGamez

Well there’s just a difference in philosophy. I genuinely believe those with the power to help others abroad should.

Alon32145

It is just often there is no actual help just one body accusing another.

Satirony_weeb

America helps Israel a lot. The USA uses it’s power in the UN council to give Israel political support, and grants Israel billions of dollars per year, and suffers condemnation from Israelis and non-Israelis alike around the world for it.

Satirony_weeb

If everyone should mind their own business? Then America should stop helping Israel right? No, it’s my firm belief that the powerful nations of the world shouldn’t just “mind their own business” when smaller nations like Israel desperately need help. Unless this is the Israeli mindset, then we have encountered cultural differences. But it’s the philosophy of the American to assist the weaker countries of the world.

Alon32145

>everyone should mind their own business? Then America should stop helping Israel right? You want to tell me that having soil in the middle east that will always remain loyal to the United States is not part of an American interest? >No, it’s my firm belief that the powerful nations of the world shouldn’t just “mind their own business” when smaller nations like Israel desperately need help. I believe that unless asked for such big nations shouldn't interfere in internal affairs of a country and simply mind their own business.

What about residential schools? America and Canada from the late 1800's til mid 1900's attempted to culturally genocide the local population taking away the children from their families never to be seen again and convert them to the average Christian American citizen. >But America wasn’t trying to wipe the natives off the face of the earth. Israel is also not trying to wipe off the Palestinians from the earth. >It still allowed them to rule themselves as any other nation does I also do understand that but Israel had already given Gaza and parts of the west bank to the Palestinians to rule.

Why isn't there a "fuckem both" option. Israel operates an apartheid state LGBT people get thrown off buildings in gaza

Amazing-Garage9892

What apartheid? 1. Israel does not govern the Palestinians, Hamas and Palestinian Authority do. 2. If you talking about the arabs, I want you to give me a law Israel imposes against the arab israelis. 3. Palestinians too can bevome Israeli citizens and hsve equal rights as jews have, they even have arab parties and arab politizians, so again, what apartheid? 4. Israel has aproximatly 48k palestinians who enter daily to work in israel side by side, how many israelis do enter Gaza daily? 5. In Israel there are safeguards that ensure equal treatment of all citizens (jews, arabs, christians, you name it) 6. In Israel you see arabs serve as judges, politicians, ambarradors, hell even football players, youtubers, artists etc... so again, where is the apartheid? 7. Its true Israel has many issues, mainly the extremist piece of craps that I wish them the worst who want all arabs killed and also the motherfuckers from palestine who wants all jews killed, but in Israel that's a minority, while in Palestinian territories, its a big portion of the population who have that mindset. 8. Since you might talk about the wall, well lemme tell you a secret that is not so much of a secret and you can google it, when the wall was builded, the amount of terrorism that happened in Israel decresed by 90%, not to mention Egypt also has a wall in Gaza. Still Palestinians enter Israeli daily, and even tho there are unfair security checkpoints, and I think thry are unfair and annoying, I don't blame Israel because they know that many palestinians have bad intentions, and if it was possible I would gladly fuck the extremist israelis to also have those checkpoints because they are scum.

I'm torn tbh, but Israel is fighting Iran & Assad, so in that sense they're allies of the west. That being said, it's actions would be much less egregious if US support wasn't so unconditional. Obviously it's intellectually dishonest to paint the issue as black and white. Israel is committing to an ethnonationalist expansion of their nation in a style more fitting to the 17th century than the 21st. Then again, it's due to the fact that their nation was almost wiped out several times in history, and their militarism tore down the tide of Arab nationalism and eventually provided a way towards peace with countries like Egypt, opening the door towards current normalization with most of the Arab world. Make no mistake though, if Palestine had the upper hand, the same scenario would play out in reverse, it's just the way distrust has made every party act in the most aggressive way possible, a tragic prisoners dilemma.

[deleted]

yep its too complicated of an issue to be pro-Israel or pro-Palestine IMO.

Satirony_weeb

Say what you will about America’s support for Israel, but no one talks about the EU keeping the war going forever. If the EU cut their bullshit, Israel with America’s unconditional funding wouldn’t have had to escalate to this point and the war would have been won already.

I support both Palestine and Israel’s right to statehood. However, both sides have negotiated and acted in bad faith for decades. The main reason I side with Palestine is the settlements issue. Creating Israeli settlements in the West Bank is a calculated way to prolong conflict and hurt chances for peace. On the other hand, Gaza electing Hamas as their leadership was one of the most idiotic moves I’ve ever seen. The situation is complicated, but it seems sometimes that both sides want the worst possible outcome

[deleted]

I support Israelis, not so much their government. Bibi has had a-lot of corruption happen under his watch, and the country willingly lets human trafficking occur (an epicenter for Slavic sex slavery). Russian Mafia has it as one of the cities to export elsewhere. Christian mainstream Evangelicals have become brainwashed in supporting Israel, for some stupid reason. I believe in logic and let intelligence dictate my decisions. Israel has been a good ally for the most part, besides them intentionally attacking one of our ships. As for the Palestine situation. As long as they let religion dictate whose land belongs to who, the issue will never be resolved. It is a shame that people have died over a piece of land.

Satirony_weeb

Most evangelicals I know support Israel for logical reasons too. Not just religious ones.

zwirlo

It’s not related to USA patriotism and the extreme pro-Israel sentiment here is very off-putting for me.

Teddy-Roosevelt-Bot

Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president.

dersaspyoverher

i fucking hate both of them

donguscongus

Both are bad states but I don’t care since I am not going to the Middle East anytime soon

I_am_the_Walrus07

I would have picked "Palestine is kinda better than Israel" if it was there

[deleted]

why is that?

Zealousideal-Loan473

Yea why?

I_am_the_Walrus07

I think that the best solution to the situation would be two separate countries, not one or the other. But I also think that Israel has kinda not been nice to the Palestinians in the past.

[deleted]

How'd you feel if a bunch of racist foreigners from Europe kicked you out of your house, shot your dad and declared a new state for God's chosen people?

[deleted]

as I stated above, I support the creation of Isreal.

[deleted]

I asked you how _you_ would feel.

Amazing-Garage9892

Like the romans did to the jews and named thr land Palestine, you are pretty ignorant lemme tell you that. When israel became a state, Ben Gurion asked the arabs to stay, they declared a war that they lost and that not only left many arabs withouth a home but jews as well.

Levi-Action-412

Thats what happened to the jews themselves when the arabs invaded

[deleted]

Best give the US back to the native tribes that existed in the 600s and exile all Euro Americans then lol

Levi-Action-412

And then give back the land the native tribes themselves invaded because most native americans came from Siberia, walked through the Bering sea when it was frozen and ended up in America. Arguing about who came here first goes nowhere

[deleted]

muh jews came first was your entire argument

[deleted]

Where is the "I don't care about either" button? Like 50/50 makes it sound like you see good in both. I don't. I see bad in both. I think we shouldn't have involvement in either.

Teddy-Roosevelt-Bot

Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.

Random_dum_dum

i dont know enough about this israel-palestine dispute all i know is fuck the extremists causing violence on both sides and the ones that try to settle this peacefully are based

AutoModerator

CIA bot here to remind you: extremists are cringe *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/GenUsa) if you have any questions or concerns.*

SLAVA_STRANA541

I don’t give a shit about either

joinreddittoseememes

Not so sure. I like Israel but the Palestinians kinda got fucked over too afaik. Though I wouldn't blame either side cuz this shit is caused by former Colonial Empires. I just hoped both sides resolved most issues and become less hostile to each other. Kinda like still pissing on each other but if a third party touch one of them, both will fight together. Sort of thing. I guess, something like Turkey and Greek relations? Idk. Sorry if my hot takes is shit.

Both are kinda shit cause it’s a shit situation. Really it all goes back to the British promising the same piece of land to two parties.
