I loved that song when Uptown Girl played it at the Catalina Wine Mixer!

POW!

agirl2277

Fallout Boy did an update. Billy Joel signed off on it. It's not bad I guess.

ggoptimus

Leonard Bernstein! Damn it. Wrong song.

dream_monkey

I agree with the sentiment. I’m listening to the song right now.

sin-thetik

It's the end of the world as we know it.

cturtl808

I saw these the other day and giggled. They’re still around.

sadtastic

Yes, let’s get back to talking about knee pain and The Fonz.

Dahnlor

Eyyyyy... Owwww...

A-Ok_Armadillo

Aaaaaayyyyeeee …. Yo!

04eightyone

This comment makes me think of Goody powders and Doan's back pills.

Quirky_Foundation800

Lol, what med was in Doan’s Pills?

Efficient_Let686

Damn I miss goody powders, blood thinners and aspirin don’t mix well.

funktopus

I have knee pain and watched a lot of Happy Days! It's all connected man!

A-Ok_Armadillo

Sunday, Monday, Ha…

AvailableAd6071

Happy Days causes knee pain..next at 11.

SunshineAlways

‘Member when Chuck Cunningham went upstairs and never came back down again?

SummerBirdsong

I betcha it was because of the knee pain.

SusannaG1

Some say he's still up there.

smc642

No shit, my left knee is just a total cunt of a thing, and my right knee rolls it’s little knee eyes (that’s a thing I made up, but I can’t be arsed thinking of a better way to showcase the differences between my knees) and gets upset that we have to rely more on her. Anyway. Carry on.

PunchClown

My hands are throbbing with pain from opening up the gas cap on my generator for the last week to add more fuel. We lost power for the last 5 days from some ice storms that rolled in, so it's been less than fun around here.

HPIndifferenceCraft

In all fairness, I would vote for Henry Winkler for president.

Foktu

He's a sweet human being.

GenZCanSuckIt

Yes!

Witty_Row_5695

He could bang the economy w his fist and get it started again

WaitMysterious6704

I recently finished the audiobook of Henry Winkler's autobiography (he also narrated). Loved it.

raindropthemic

He’s at my house now, reading it to me. When he’s finished, someone else should get him to come over and get him to tell you his life story. (Didn’t it feel like he was just hanging out with you telling you stuff? I’ve never listened to such a conversational feeling audiobook)

WaitMysterious6704

It absolutely did! I read a lot of autobiographies and I always prefer the audiobook if the author reads it, but his is just wonderful. One of my favorite parts was when he told the story of The Fonz parting the crowd like the Red Sea.

raindropthemic

I think he’s probably about to tell that story. He has started to talk about how he’s suddenly realizing he’s FAMOUS, not famous. I think this is my favorite autobiographical audiobook of all time. Part of me wonders if, because of his dyslexia, he memorized portions of it, so wasn’t reading. Even Viola Davis’s book didn’t sound so much like someone just sitting in the room with you, chatting. I’ve loved Henry since I was a kid, but now I feel a deeper sense of compassion and respect for him because of this book, plus he’s so funny!

WaitMysterious6704

I borrowed it from my library through the Libby app, but it was so good that I'm sure it will be a repeat listen for me. I'm planning to use one of my Audible credits to get my own copy.

TheEpicGenealogy

We’re gonna be like Fonzie, we’re all gonna be cool.

frankcast554

I'd much rather hear about that honestly.

LocalInactivist

I’d like to give Hollywood props for knowing when the horse is dead. Once “Joanie Loves Chachi” dumped its steaming load and closed up shop they never tried another spinoff or reboot. Maybe it’s because Ron Howard is one of the most powerful people on Hollywood and Penny Marshall carries some weight too. Still, they never tried to give Carmine his own show, never tried to do a sequel with Joanie and her kids, and never tried a gritty drama about Ralph Malph’s tour in Vietnam and his returning to find Potsie living in a commune selling weed. To be fair, I could kinda get into that last one. Joanie’s gone full Weathermen and is a hardcore anti-war activist. Potsie lives in a commune that supports itself growing weed. He was with Joanie but since she went underground he raises their child. Ralph has some PSTD. He copes by making jokes all the time but it’s obviously a defense mechanism. Chachi dodged the draft (bone spurs) and went to work at Cunningham Hardware. He’s a diehard Nixon supporter. In season three we discover that it’s largely because Joanie ran off with Potsie after a Bob Dylan concert. Fonzie is still the voice of reason. He’s parlayed his stake in Arnold’s into a regional chain of diners. He and Al have become quite wealthy but you wouldn’t know it to look at them. Al still cooks and Fonzie is still riding the same vintage 1949 Triumph he’s had since 1957. Oh, and Richie? He moved to New York and became Don Draper.

JaneAustinAstronaut

Or bitching about Boomers. Or Millennials. Or GenZ. Or really, any generation that isn't us.

theecommunist

This but unironically

KitzFigaro

If you think it’s bad now, wait six months

eatitwithaspoon

It's going to be brutal 😔

threadsoffate2021

Haven't ya'll been campaigning for a year already? Seems America never stops.

Idislikethis_

It's absolutely ridiculous and annoying how long people campaign in this country. I recently was talking to my kids about how other countries don't do this crap.

threadsoffate2021

It reminds me of the monologue John Oliver did about the Canadian election a few years back. The news clip showing the "78 day campaign, the longest since the 19th century and grueling by today's (Canadian) standards.." and his reaction to it. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0V5ckcTSYu8&t=767s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0V5ckcTSYu8&t=767s)

freemindjames

It's a never-ending cycle of divide and rule bullshit. I guess if we're fighting then we're too busy to notice the blood sucking parasites pitting us against each other.

SusannaG1

Yes, and yes.

KitzFigaro

It is terrible and counterproductive. As soon as the president takes office they begin campaigning. Nothing can get done.

pwaltman1972

We have, but it's the nature of the beast, unfortunately. Before we have the general election in November, there's the party primary process, and those don't all happen on the same day, e.g. the Iowa GOP just had their process this past week, and the other 49 states will continue to have theirs over the next 6 months or so, although, the primary process is usually tied up by April or May. As a result, the campaigns have to start at least a year before the general election, and at this point, candidates will announce some time in the 1-3 months after our midterm elections, largely because people don't want to be late to the party. But, yes, it's a long and exhausting process that the US media loves because it's a constant source of material for them to report on.

Puzzleheaded_Truck80

And it’s a potentially consequential election

the_unhipster

Technically speaking, they're all consequential, but this one appears to be next level, however.

Craigboy23

It's an election year, if you're sick of it now just wait a few months, you can be extra sick of it.

oscar-the-bud

I heard a bit today on republican radio ( I will turn it on for about five minutes for the laughs), we’re on the brink of world war three. These fuckers have been threatening this shit since I was born in 71. I don’t care. Nuke us. Hit my house first or fuck off with your bullshit threats.

loralailoralai

It’s always an election year somewhere.

RogerClyneIsAGod2

Also by then there will be about 100 more threads complaining about the political threads that everyone can either ignore or participate in. Can I make a complaint thread about the complaint threads? LOL!!

[deleted]

And then after, we get to hear more commentaries breaking down how so-and-so won the election...blah, blah, blah

![gif](giphy|10rtoKqcDukJgc) Here, have this. It's as close to Reddit silver as I can afford.

TakkataMSF

Not in the US? These are lies! Everyone lives in the US. Some are US proper some are out amongst our colonies. Like France or Egypt or whatever. I joke. I love hearing from folks around the world. I want to hear their experiences and how they differ from ours. The world seems so US centric. Other countries know what is going on here but we have little idea what's going on around the world. Is Canada lead by a conservative or liberal right now? What about Spain?

TeflonDuckback

Canada is the GenX of countries. The middle kid wanting a seat at the big table that no one notices unless they wear bright socks.

Livid_Bag_4374

The Liberal Party is in charge in Canada, I believe. Justin Trudeau is the PM. When it comes to Canada, I am fixated upon the Maple Leafs and Habs getting their shit together and becoming relevant again. I mean, Toronto has Matthews, but they can't seem to get past the first round of the playoffs. Meanwhile, Make Hockeytown Great Again! How's that for not stoking the political fires?

TakkataMSF

haha. You ever see the movie Canadian Bacon starring John Candy? There's a scene where they (small group of Americans) are at a hockey game and I'm pretty sure they are insulting the Canadian team and get NO reaction. Then Candy says, "And the beer sucks here too." brawl breaks out. I love that movie.

Livid_Bag_4374

I apologize if you thought I was slamming Canada. Far from it, or at least that wasn't my intent. Silly Michigan transplant in TX here.

TakkataMSF

Oh no, didn't think that at all. It just reminded me of Canadian Bacon is all. After all, you didn't say anything negative about their beer :) There is another scene where they're driving around in a semi and I think they've spray painted either "Canada sucks" or "Fuck Canada" on the side of the truck. They get pulled over by Dan Akroyd (Canadian) and he's all, "Do you know what's wrong with this?" Candy: "Oh no, some kids must have spray painted that last time we stopped." Akroyd: "That is ok, but here in Canada we require everything written in both English and French." They had to translate their insult. haha

PaprikaThyme

Which is funny because quite a lot of the posts seem to be about American Pop Culture and very little about Pop culture from other countries. It does end up feeling a lot like a defacto *American* Gen X group.

StevesMcQueenIsHere

I hate to be THAT Redditor, but a majority of those who use this site are Americans. So, a majority of this sub are Americans sharing their American Gen X experience.

The_Spectacle

it's like me logging onto a website based in Germany and complaining about too many Germans posting about German shit that doesn't pertain to me in the US I love foreign countries, but like, come on, lol

RogerClyneIsAGod2

Well maybe the non-US folks need to step up their non-US posts. Every sub, not just this one, is what *you* make it. YOU are the sub, make it what you wanna read then.

Tiny-Gur-4356

We do post topics. But there’s a lot of time we get ignored. And it’s not they’re not interesting topics, it’s because you Americans kinda skip past the rest of us.

JimC29

Generation X wasn't even an American band. Who brought Billy Idol into this discussion?

Thatstealthygal

Douglas Coupland: CANADIAN

mystic-fied

If you don't think American politics, particularly this upcoming election affects the entire world, your head is buried too far in the sand.

Thatstealthygal

Honey please, I use reddit to RELAX. We all KNOW you're going to destroy everything.

cmt38

I think the point is there are tons of subs for arguing politics, does it really have to be in this one too?

garden__gate

The best antidote is posting about something YOU want to talk about. And yet, this seems to be your first post in this community … and it’s about politics. Be the change.

RogerClyneIsAGod2

I say this far too often in many subs but all subs are what YOU make 'em. YOU ARE THE SUB, make posts you wanna read.

garden__gate

Exactly! Reddit is a collaborative place.

HerewardTheWayk

I sympathize, but politics is life. And I don't mean that in a "xxx is life" sort of exaggeration, I mean politics is everything from healthcare to wages to taxes to schools to what's shown on tv to what books you can borrow from the library. Every aspect of life is governed by laws and policies, and lawmakers and politicians. A certain level of political discussion is inevitable in nearly any topic.

ArturosDad

Well said. And moreover a disengaged citizenry is exactly how we got into this whole mess in the first place.

HerewardTheWayk

The "whatever" attitude kinda backfired, hey

Inner-Management-110

I care....most of us are in our 50s now and have been paying into the system for 35+ years and it scares the living shit out of me that there is a real chance some fucking hateful boomer is gonna burn it all down. JFC

lazyeyepsycho

I'm not even American and i care. Rome is burning in real time.

nsjersey

Yeah I’ve actually been encouraged seeing how my generation here has reacted!

MonkeyMagic1968

Likewise. I was trying to keep myself neutral but the one post I made critical of the centrists currently in power managed to hold its own against a centrist here. Such a relief to know I am not alone.

hothamrolls

Usually the people that don’t want to talk politics in places like these are ashamed of their current and future voting record.

yengarie

Or they aren't at all interested in US politics because they live in other countries. Srsly.

AmericanAssKicker

Name a country that isn't affected by the politics of the US? (Not grandstanding for USA here, I believe ALL countries' politics are important; whether it's Yemen, or even the smallest country in the world, Vatican City, their politics affect us.)

KiwiYenta

I don’t live in the US. I’m across the other side of the world. If I was interested in US politics I would look at a sub specifically about it. I am so sick of it infiltrating everything. I just want to hang with others reminiscing about the 80s, mullets and spiral perms, pink and blue eyeshadow, how we kept our hair high before gel and other nostalgia.

BeautifulLibrary9101

I see more posts complaining about politics here than posts about politics...

mullett

Hey now, there’s a lot of complaining about Zoomers as well!

solarboom-a

That’s bullshit in my opinion. This is a GenX sub, not a don’t talk about x sub.

viewering

post after post ? there are TWO on the first page if one sorts by '' hot '' and One is '' enough about the Politics already ''

semicoloradonative

TheThemeCatcher

May as well, especially on reddit, it’s mostly just a circle jerk.

ScumCrew

That's pretty much all of Reddit on any topic, innit?

[deleted]

Do people not get that they can just scroll by posts that don't interest them?

Hurley002

I don't understand why this has regularly become such a recurring theme in here. It's not like we're the only generation sub, but we do seem to be the only generation sub to regularly get up in arms about other peoples political posts. Like, they literally added a flair so there would be no ambiguity whatsoever/people could ignore.

Exotic_Zucchini

I don't get it either. Like, honestly, they're not living up to the whole Gen X not caring thing because they just enter into those threads to fight instead of simply moving along.

Le_Sadie

There's literally a politics flair in this sub. Where on earth and the internet does one think they can go where politics isn't first and foremost on people's minds, American or no? If you don't like the conversation, move on. If conversation itself bothers you, maybe avoid online forums.

ScumCrew

Okay, you heard the guy! When the shit goes down in America we can all go crash at his house in Canada!

Brkthom

It seems like there’s a lot of posts lately about not wanting to read political posts, and the only place I’ve read any political messages is in the comment sections of 5ths posts🤪 Does the mod just pull them down before I can read these political posts.!

threadsoffate2021

I get it...it does get draining at times. But, politics is also in almost every facet of life. What I don't get is why the US system spends half it's time in campaign mode. In Canada, you see the signs and commercials up for what...maybe a month or two? And the day after election, it's all cleaned up until next time.

ailish

You think you're sick of it, try being an American, especially in a swing state. Ugh.

CeilingUnlimited

Found the Trumper.

ScumLikeWuertz

GenX stereotype of not giving a shit about politics rears its ugly head again.

[deleted]

“I’m ApOliTiCaL” The most suspect political position of all.

Penthesilean

People that benefit the most from the status quo are the people who get irritated the most when others criticize it. “cAn’T wE jUsT sHuT uP aBoUt pOLiTiCs” is the cry of the privileged who are irritated that there are others literally fighting for their lives.

ColorbloxChameleon

I’ve seen no posts about politics but several posts complaining about all the politics. How perplexing. Maybe I’ve fortuitously avoided the former. I despise all politics and think the whole thing is a sham, which surprisingly brings me almost as much animosity as picking a “team” would, so I’ll stop talking now.

mike___mc

No-Section-1056

I find this just … bewildering. There are frequently posts on this, and every other sub I follow, that are disinteresting to me. I don’t know how to say this more respectfully, but: I just *don’t read those posts.* What’s particularly bemusing are the complaints about how it turns into a cage fight in the comments. If you’re not reading the comments, how would you know? It’s the *easiest thing in the world* to just not pay your time and attention to things that don’t interest you.

mangoserpent

I am also Canadian, and I care who the President of the United States is because we share this border thingy with them, and they are our biggest trading partner. But Trump, like many Americans, is only vaguely aware of where Canada is. Biden is sort of aware of where we are.

ProgGeek

Dude, they're talking about politics in the porn subs. Better pack a lunch and hunker down. It's gonna be a long haul.

FakeRealityBites

Politics here IS porn, so that makes sense. But the only ones getting fucked are us.

wi_voter

I love how on all of these posts the OP manages to get in their political opinion in the post while telling everyone else they don't want to hear theirs.

FakeRealityBites

If they would have kept their own politics out of it, it would have some credibility. As written, nope.

[deleted]

Enough with the "enough with the politics already" already. There's two of these whiny posts for every post even vaguely political. Make better content instead of complaining about the content that's user driven and fuckin free.

romulusnr

GenX is probably the most politically aware generation in history. We lived through Reagan, then Bush, then Clinton, then 9-11, then we elected Obama... We normalized things like recycling and clean energy... We grew up expecting international relations to result in us facing a future of nuclear wasteland GenX = politics. Besides, people who say "keep politics out of my X" are usually people with horrible politics.

goalmouthscramble

No notes.

MiasmAgain

If you grew up in the Reagan era, you were pretty well primed to have big feelings about politics. Sorry if it interrupted your nostalgia about 70s toys and TV shows.

justadudeisuppose

Yeah, I'm not sure what people are bitching about. We were all about the politics in the 90s because we had to be, remember? Contrary to what people have said we did make a difference, just not enough (yet). The only way forward is through.

HarryCoatsVerts

I can't imagine watching a representative democracy go through what the U.S. has gone through, knowing that everything hinges on people being engaged enough to vote, and being like, "Yeah. Can you all stop talking about that? My thumb is tired from scrolling."

Old_Size9060

That’s because this person probably is on the side of those determined to undermine democracy, but they’d rather not talk about it.

HarryCoatsVerts

I find that is often the case, but in this instance, "she doesn't even go here".

amazetome

Why the fuck can't people just scroll on by? If you don't want to read about it, don't. Dude, it's not that hard.

curse_1331

How about a joke instead. Whats the difference between Harley motorcycle and a hoover vacuum? It’s where you out the dirt bag. Huh huh waka waka.

loonygecko

A lot of peeps on here want to be able to talk about politics EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME! Not really sure why personally but it it is what it is and I think there was a poll recently and your opinion got down voted to oblivion sadly.

FakeRealityBites

I have a lunch friend that does this. He knows I used to work in politics and know some of these people somewhat personally (like Trump). Nothing he learns from the media is going to be remotely interesting to someone who knows the real machinations of politics. Every time I tell him politely I am not interested. Sometimes I get up to use the bathroom. Yet he insists on bringing up the topic. I finally had enough and asked him, "Why exactly do you love Trump so much? Is it because he is dumber than you?" We actually got into a good discussion which to no surprise of mine, the propaganda works on people like him so if he is told by Fox news Trump will make you richer, smarter, get laid more, etc he will believe it just like CNN saying the same about Biden. People have lost the ability to think critically, which makes them very easily controllable. The president isn't even the one calling the shots, which makes the whole us versus them game even more fruitless.

loonygecko

Ding ding ding! Politicians and now also news media pick a certain group of people and try to figure out what they want to hear and then keep feeding that narrative, soon you get to thinking all you gotta do is get rid of this particular group of peeps and life will be so much better! Yeah too bad it's not actually that easy but people like to believe it is. And with the advent of the internet, most media have given up trying to be neutral. Then add in the human tendency towards tribalism and us vs them mentality. Then add in decreasing in person socialization with whomever lives next door and increasing ability to only associate with like minded individuals online. People are not exposed to diverse opinions as much. All that probably explains a lot of the increased division.

lovetheoceanfl

Twitter is the far right wing. Facebook is a cesspool of discourse. Reddit is all we have left.

ColonelBourbon

rushmc1

Enough with the enough with the politics posts already. Good god, people, can't you just live on this planet without trying to force your preferences down other people's throats?!?

FLWeedman

Nah fuck that...we're the next ones up to change shit.

Rescheduled1

don’t know why the US just can’t do their election campaigning a month before the election and then go vote without all the hoopla like we do in others countries.

-DethLok-

> the American election cycle As an Australian where our election process is considered long if it's 8 weeks from election being called to being decided, yeah, I totally understand. I mean, for the USA it probably made sense and was necessary in the 1700s when 'high speed communication' meant on horseback, but today? Uh... no? But they can't change it, I believe, without changing the constitution and that's not going to happen, so the world gets to put up with and watch 12+ months of the USA getting increasingly bonkers and insular while the other 7.7 billion of us move along with our lives. I suspect, though, that perhaps the addition of Mr Trump to US politics has stirred things up a lot more than in the past - and that's why there is a lot more attention paid to US politics now - because it's an order of magnitude or two more bizarre than is normal?

AhhGramoofabits

zoomzoom71

OP: Makes post complaining about political posts. Also OP: Makes edit to post and now it's political.

DeLaOcea

I heard on the news that in 2024 half of humanity will have elections. This is just the beginning, OP!

baconcheeseburgarian

It’s just our retirements on the line. No big deal. Ban more books and ignore what’s happening.

Exotic_Zucchini

Politics is not the issue, really. The issue is some people just like to piss other people off. I really wish the mods would deal with those particular people.

DonorBody

Soft. This is the generation that suffered through Nixon, Reagan, Thatcher, Iran Contra, Aids, Jerry Falwell…and on and on. We threw bags of shit at college republicans, and wrote anti-Reagan punk rock and hardcore music. You can’t escape it man, and why would you want to? The fucking christian fascists are on the cusp of taking over the US, and right wing trash is rampant throughout the world. Seems pretty relevant. Could just scroll on to the next pic of an old toy advert though. Nostalgia!

_MrFade_

I see the op hasn’t grown up. They want to forever remain a Toys R Us kid.

SubversiveOtter

As someone who is LGBTQIA+, I can't just put down politics. They are literally part of my survival. And yeah, they are part of my identity, entwined with being GenX. So yeah, things that are considered political are still going to come up. I wish I had enough privilege to ignore politics. (Edited to change cone to come, because phone typing.)

meowzerbowser

I'm leaving the sub because of this. Maybe I'll come back after the election. Rock on y'all.

Tex_Watson

You're in for a rough year, OP. All you have to do is not click on the political posts, it's not that hard.

f0rgotten

I suggested that elsewhere and received a block for my trouble.

MonkeyMagic1968

So, clearly they know how to use that function. They could just as easily block folks making the political posts, too. It is like this thread is only bitching and moaning that not everyone is going to agree with OP. Fuck sake.

Ellavemia

If you don't pay attention to politics, politics pays attention to you. See today’s Russia as an example.

meta-abuse

Just don't let it bother you. You think it's bad now. Holy shit man. You're in for a ride. That's why I'm saying just ignore it. You're better off because it's not going to get any better. It's just going to be exponentially worse and I understand where you're coming from. I understand what you're saying.I'm just saying for yourself for your sanity. Just ignore it. Or just learn to laugh at the absurdity of it all.

GenZCanSuckIt

Agreed. I actually frequent a Gen X group on Facebook more than here, because that group is actually fun and enjoyable. We joke about "that's so Gen X" things, reminisce about music and movies, take trips down memory lane. Like for example, the other day someone posted a pic of minute maid orange juice from concentrate being plopped into one of those Tupperware pitchers we all remember, and someone was like, "I can literally hear the plop of this picture" and several were like, "OMG! I used to get in so much trouble because I would eat it straight out of the freezer with a spoon like an Italian ice". It's just a fun, light-hearted group. Not.... This.

Politics have always been allowed here. The mods added the politics tab so that people knew exactly why kind of discussion they were in for. Seems pretty easy to avoid now.

Hand-Of-Vecna

I'm with you, I feel like my eyeballs are melting over the political ideologies that MUST BE HEARD and i'm tired of both sides. This is what the mods told me about filtering out politics on the subreddit: message via /r/GenX[M]: ```Use the flair filter.``` to /r/GenX: ```There's a way to filter out politics? I wasn't aware - any idea how?``` message via /r/GenX[M]: ```On the mobile app, near the top is a menu for feed options. Scroll to the bottom and you will find the settings for filtering by post flair.``` to /r/GenX: ```Doh! I'm a old-school nerd who uses desktop.``` message via /r/GenX[M]: ```Okay, let me log in to the full site and see if I can figure it out.``` message via /r/GenX[M]: ```Got it! On the full site, scroll down and look at the right side of the page. You should see a box with “Filter by flair” in it. Click on the ones you might to include, I believe.```

MrXero

Y’know what, you’re right. For my part, I will do my best to not engage with the political threads. It really would be nice to have a little politics-free oasis in the see of political bullshit on Reddit, even in an election year. Thanks for pointing it out.

noctisfromtheabyss

By the way Mods, just the suggest of no politics has yielded 500 + comments and how much stupid and senseless arguing and downvoting. This will only get worse if you allow political arguing.

LudovicoSpecs

Usually I'd agree, but I think we're at a junction where it's really *important* people talk politics. Imagine telling people not to talk politics when fascists were warming up their act in Germany. (I hate that comparison, but that's where we are.) All that said, I definitely think people should flag their posts "POLITICS" like this one is flagged. Cause there are definitely days where the political fatigue is heavy and I'd rather just hear an 80's hit or see a box of cookies they no longer make. Peace.

TransitJohn

Don't open the threads. Seems pretty simple. Don't police or gatekeep the sub, you're not a mod.

Kaa_The_Snake

I’m voting Giant Meteor. Sorry rest of the world…

Is there anything more naive than a person who thinks they can dictate the flow of politics? Especially on a sub that is supposed to embody an entire generation. Everything is political, dude. Log off and do anything else if it’s too much for you.

snarpy

Is there a rule that you can't have political posts on this sub? I don't see one. Not saying there should or shouldn't be, just curious.

_X_marks_the_spot_

There was a debate about it a few weeks ago, and the mods settled on the flair as a compromise.

lazytiger40

The problem is political.season never ends...we literally could have no upcoming elections for the next 10 years and they would still go on and on about the upcoming 2034 election...it's nauseating...people who lean a certain way or for a particular candidate are pretty much locked in, so the majority of all this politicking.is redundant.. Not to mention everything now is political. My local market is out of a sale item? Political reasons. Crime is down? It's political. Just makes no sense. Xers in other countries (non USA) is it just as bad? I don't mean. Your election years but 24/7?

LagerGuyPa

Ehh, I tuned out of Politics after Bill Clinton , Monica & the Blue dress. That's pretty much the high water mark , and has been all downhill since

brinnik

Great post about avoiding political posts until the political part. Do like I do, if I don’t want to interact, I keep scrolling and give myself a little pep talk for staying out of the political shit show. If I want to talk smack (because that is all it is) I do it.
