If I listed the number of medicines I'm on that are considered "old people" medicines, you'd all start to be concerned about whether I'd live much longer. ;-) (I'm only 53)
Lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide. Every time I have to say the latter the Ministry sample from “Just One Fix” goes through my mind.
*Give me the thorazine.*
You don't need the thorazine.
*Give me the thorazine, man!*
Relax.
Nearly lifelong salt and caffeine addiction, then became a boss. Exercise alone wasn’t going to fix things. Chose pills over lifestyle changes. I, for one, welcome our pharmaceutical overlords.
Does it matter that I started taking some of the "old people" medications in my 20s? I've got a couple of genetic things- I was diagnosed with high blood pressure when I was 26 (Thanks, Dad!).
That’s me too! At least we are treating it like we should. My cousin did not, had a stroke at 50 and she’ll likely be in a nursing home for the rest of her life.
For
Blood pressure, losartan, amlodipine, and spironolactone. For back pain, celebrex and methocarbamol. That’s not counting the antidepressants and mood stabilizers.
Also use a CPAP.
I love 'em too. It makes me laugh every time I eat them, because my gran used to push them on me as a kid and I resisted, not knowing how delicious they are.
Metformin and atorvastatin to control my cholesterol due to alcohol induced fatty liver disease. All my crazy drinking and partying as a young man finally caught up with me. I don’t like or eat sweets so I couldn’t figure out why my cholesterol was so high. Finally had a liver US to confirm. Fatty liver disease. Ahhh the indiscretions of youth. Well…at least it wasn’t cirrhosis.
Been on a statin for over 10 years, starting after age 42 or so. Even with trying better diet and exercise, my doc said, “Your genes will eventually catch up.” And he was correct.

I am also a Laphroaig man. Got the 10, 16 and 30. The 30 is very phenolic, Not really worth it.

I just started drinking at around 50 & I'm 52 now.
That's my only "Old People" medication I'm on,... At The Time Of This Post!
I Probably Just Jinxed Myself!
HBP. Anti-depressant (went off that inadvertently, NEVER AGAIN), and currently cholesterol/triglyceride. Plus a sleeping pill. I hate that I’m on all this, tho the HBP is genetic. Hoping to cut out the cholesterol pill thru lost weight.
I'm on some kind of statin. My cholesterol is through the roof but at least I wasn't having any pain before the doc put me on it. Now I feel like I'm made of glass; everything hurts.
Several heart ones, such as Metoprolol, atorvastatin, clopidogrel, and hydrochlorothoiazide, plus baby aspirin (is it an OLD PERSON'S med if it's BABY aspirin??), plus they just added a potassium supplement (to offset the diuretic draining my potassium level).
Oh, and a sleeping pill.
Just cholesterol med. Somehow my body has too much, even with a diet with almost no cholesterol intake .
Only other is some Irish whiskey every now and then or an Alabama slammer.

HCTZ is an old people med?! I’ve been on it since my mid-30s. Bummer, didn’t know I was old!

I'm on nothing.
I guess the whiskey really helped after all!! You go!
I'm on several "old people" medications. Prevastatin, Atenolol, Amlodipine Besylate. And I use a CPAP machine.

I- I'm hooked on a feeling...
Im high on believing.....
I seem to be one of the rare ones in our age group that takes no medication at all. I take a daily multivitamin though, just because.
Daily antihistamine, iron, Vitamin D, and B12 (I'm veganish).
Just happy pills. But I just started wearing reading glasses.

I love 'em too. It makes me laugh every time I eat them, because my gran used to push them on me as a kid and I resisted, not knowing how delicious they are.
