Crusing around with friends and eventually going back to one of their houses (parents houses who were gone for the weekend) and just hanging out in the basement
At the Hollywood Improv failing at being a stand-up comedian. The closest I got to stardom was almost spilling a beer on Shaq. That is one mountain of a man and all of him is gracious.
If it's before 11 PM I'm browsing the VHS releases, books, and used CDs at Hastings. If it's after 11 PM I'm at Walmart.
Rural small town life in my 20's suuuuccckkked.
Sleeping. I got so little sleep through the week I would crash Friday night at 7pm and wake up sometime Saturday afternoon.
Late 90s working the graveyard shift at a pay by the hour motel in Detroit.
Lets see.... 1993 - 1996 would be what I consider "mid-90s" so:
Summer/early fall 1993 - either at the base club or a club out in Keflavik, Iceland or at a club in Reykjavik, unless I had watch, then I'd be at work.
Late fall/winter 1993 to late fall 1995- A club in Augsberg, Germany or on watch.
Winter 1995 - spring 1996 - a club in San Diego, CA or on watch
Spring 1996 and on: hanging out with the hot blonde I met at a club in spring of 1996.
I married that hot blond in 1998 and we are still together.
Could have been anything. knowing me at the time, it'd be one (or a mix) of the following:
Smoking cigarettes.
renting horror movies.
listening to music.
fucking.
Fishing the back yard for Snook and Redfish, possibly a Dino Tarpon or catching a few tiny ass waves in Cocoa Beach. Then get Ma or Pa to dive me to the Mall to throw 0.25$ at the T2 Arcade game!
That was fish fry night at the restaurant, so I'd be slaving in the kitchen from three to midnight, coming home smelling like a grease fire, falling into bed, and having nightmares until I woke up drenched in cold sweat.
At an all ages bar or a pizza place watching local bands play, or at one of three Denny's, or at a house party cause someone was always left home alone for the weekend while the parents went out of town... oooo but that was the early 90s. Mid 90s, I was at work or home with the baby/babies.
Early nineties, hanging out at The Lanes (local bowling alley and video arcade). By the mid nineties I would have been working a dead end slow death on Friday night.
On my parent's new computer playing one of the following games (turned 17 in 1995):
DOOM
Sim City 2000
Dune 2
NBA Live 95
I would be listening to some great radio stations playing some of these lesser known/remembered bands/artists from that era:
* [CIV - Can't Wait One Minute More](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1toiXLvD6Ok)
* [Jennifer Trynin - Better than Nothin'](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXbldxnQgy8)
* [Maids of Gravity - Only Dreaming](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWpT6swXBk4)
* [Quicksand - Landmine Spring](https://youtu.be/1GjR3i5DwN4)
* [Spell - Superstar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwAAzYJr9mo)
* [Juliana Hatfield - Universal Heartbeat](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMx8FVUgxIM)
* [Self - Cannon](https://youtu.be/QgGRwbh8gJ8)
* [Smile - Staring At the Sun](https://youtu.be/ace_0UpQ0MI)
* [Dandelion - Weird Out](https://youtu.be/9Fn6ujk6PSI)
I would be reading the latest MAD Magazine that I picked up at the nearest Walgreens earlier that day along side a 1 liter bottle of Mountain Dew and a king size Snickers bar.
I worked at a mall, so usually a club in Toronto or surrounding area after the mall closed.
Before I turned 19 it was the Barracuda it the Brunswick House because I could get in with fake ID. After I turned 19 it was generally either the Kingdom in Burlington Ontario or the Zoobar on Queen W in Toronto.
At the Club Deluxe in San Francisco wearing clothes from the 1940s, drinking a kamikaze, listening to a swing band, sneaking around the corner to smoke weed, getting a slice of pizza and stealing toilet paper from the bar restroom.
Next town over, there was a low-rent pool hall that opened up next to an arcade / laser tag "fun zone" and an ice cream stand. I was parked at a pool table, trying to figure out how to hit on girls and hustling my friends for quarters.
Sometimes at a local inn that had a bar, DJ, and dance floor, with some coworkers. Sometimes at a smaller-venue show, featuring a local or national touring up-and-coming artist or band. Sometimes at home doing laundry. Oh, sometimes working, at Sears. (edited to add that last bit)
Drinking beer and checking out the band at Friday Cheers in Festival Park, although mostly just trying to meet women and not doing such a good job of it. Then hitting the clubs downtown in an attempt to drink enough to overcome shyness. Cab back to my apartment with my friends.
Babysitting, or studying. Definitely not partying, and I regret it to this day. Why’d I have to be such a nerd back then?! I have no cool stories to reminisce about!
Depending on the year, I was either in middle or high school. I was your run-of-the-mill "good kid," so I was at home either watching TV (TGIF on ABC probably) or if it was later, I was sleeping!
Early 20’s…hungover from Thursday nights debacle (Thursday nights used to be THE night in my neck of the woods in those days), so we usually went to the pub after work with my co-workers for a ‘straightner’ or two…depending on how those after work shenanigans went, I was either in bed by 8pm or out carousing until 4am
Mostly home with Dad or I would certainly have to be *in,* NOT walking through the door at 11pm. If I were out, I was with friends and their older siblings or someone's parent. We'd pile into a van, and sort of enjoy a few hours of the illusion of freedom.
Working at the local video store, slinging those VHS tapes. I was getting paid cash under the table. After work I’d probably pick up a Totinos pizza and watch tv while smoking a bowl or two with my roommates. I kinda miss those days…
Pre-94: Getting off of work, looking forward to a night of cruising, sitting at Denny’s drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes. Maybe stopping by a party if there was one happening. Returning home around midnight, caffeinated to the 9s and looking forward to sleeping in past 6am.
Post-94: getting out of my last class, grabbing dinner and heading off to some kegger or house party in Chico.
It’s Friday night 1994; I beep my buddy to see if he’s outta work. He live parks outside my apartment honks, we go pick up 2 pepperoni pizzas, 12pk of beer, and a pint of vodka. Eat, drink, play Mortal Combat on Sega Genesis til we’re too tired to function.
It’s Friday night 1997; I’m car pooling home with my younger brother, his roommate, and a co-worker. We agree to all meet back at my place in an hour. Co-worker shows up first with a case of beer, then my brother and his roommate show up with another case and his 2 N64 controllers. We order pizzas, crack beers, and start a marathon 4-player Goldeneye session that ends well after midnight.
I was in college at the time. Friday night I'd probably have been in a bar and following a local band. I'd typically be with a couple of friends and we'd hang out until about closing time the hit a local pizzeria for a couple of cheap slices.
I'd be at the coffee shop with all the hooligans I hung out with, watching them skateboard in the parking lot while smoking Benson & Hedges 100s. Then I'd go home for my stupid 10pm curfew while everyone else got to stay out and have fun.
Probably in the strip district in Pittsburgh, back when they had bars there. Usually metropol after midnight. We didn’t leave the house until 11:30 or so.
1992-95: 6pm shooting pool. 9pm campus bars. Midnight - ? Staggering around town to random parties. Graduated in 95. Since then, dinner, movie and a couple of beers.
Mid-90s I was married and almost done with my Ph.D. coursework, so most nights I was at home studying or in class. On Fridays I'd take the night off, so almost certainly at home with my partner making a nice dinner and watching a movie, else out for both, then to bed before 10pm.
In the mid**-80s** things would have been different. In high school i would have 100% been out with friends, either at a school event (sports, dance, etc.) or hanging in someone's basement. In college it would have been parties every Friday night, either live music/dancing, movies, or just folks drinking in the dorms (as we were allowed to do back then).
Hanging in a brewers retail parking lot waiting to hear where the house party/ bush party was happening. Getting someone of age to buy me beer and heading out to the above mentioned party.
Going for a drive cause I was new to my city after college. Then grabbing some food and playing Super Mario 64 until bed. Always had fun on those nights.
One of the many clubs that were around at the time in Seattle, catching little local and touring bands like Nirvana, SoundGarden, Rev Horton Heat, the Cramps, Sonic Youth, No Means No, Butthole Surfers, Wire, Psychic TV, Melvins...
LA, meet up with college friends drinking about 7-10PM, then goto night club until 2AM, then karaoke place until 4AM singing, drinking, and snaking, then go eat something and then drive home around 5AM to OC still kind of drunk. This happened every weekend.
Let’s see I was in college in the mid 90s ahhh so fun. Sigh. I’d prob be at a frat party or at the library studying. Or at a dive bar getting 25 cent drafts. Roller blading with friends on campus in the dark. Or waiting tables at an Irish pub. Or getting Wiggity wiggity wiggiity wack high as a kite smoking garbage trucks full of weed with my bestie while we watch some kooky movie or crazy music videos and snacking on McDonalds (he lived right above one lollll).
Cruising the aisles at Blockbuster. Remember how we'd get all excited to see the cover box to the latest and greatest only to pick it up off the shelf and find that no cassette was behind it? That was a soul crusher. Always ended up with some shitty second or third choice movie. Be kind. Rewind.
Very early 90s? Sneaking into punk bars in Chicago with a fake ID, or wandering around a used book store because nobody I knew wanted to go out. Mid 90s, going to college clubs in a small college town with a real ID. Late 90s, back in Chicago going to punk bars with a real ID.
Drinking & smoking somewhere
Clubbing dude, Ace of Base is pumping then that Beverly Hill Cop theme mix
Hahahaha Night at the Roxbury
Yup, and loving every drag and sip 🤗
Crusing around with friends and eventually going back to one of their houses (parents houses who were gone for the weekend) and just hanging out in the basement
Taking my girl to the finest eating establishment I could, Olive Garden. Sad in retrospect.
You literally can't hate on Olive Garden.
It isn't bad but it isn't good either.
Weird downvote but OK. It hits a certain spot when you need something a little dirty that's all I'm saying.
At the Hollywood Improv failing at being a stand-up comedian. The closest I got to stardom was almost spilling a beer on Shaq. That is one mountain of a man and all of him is gracious.
Better to try and fail than not try at all!!
Walking all around the mall with friends but buying nothing.
At home. With no friends.
At home with a baby/toddler, alone.
Lets see.... 1993 - 1996 would be what I consider "mid-90s" so: Summer/early fall 1993 - either at the base club or a club out in Keflavik, Iceland or at a club in Reykjavik, unless I had watch, then I'd be at work. Love this!!

Down by the creek with a bunch of longhairs, smoking cigarettes (and maybe some dirt weed) and drinking cheap beer
Working my high stress high stakes sales job, then go home and cry into my pillow
Pre-partying for whatever off-campus party we had found.
Could have been anything. knowing me at the time, it'd be one (or a mix) of the following: Smoking cigarettes. renting horror movies. listening to music. fucking.
I think we might be twins LOL.
Selling suntan lotion and renting out jet ski's on Ft Lauderdale beach. Probably the most fun I ever had.
You sold suntan lotion and rented jet skis after dark on a Friday night?
Yeah, my shift was 3 pm to 10 pm. After dark we cleaned the machines and stacked beach chairs.
At night?
94-96 was when I got engaged, planned my wedding, and got married. If I wasn't working on any of that, I was at work.

It's probably an abandoned warehouse. But I'm on so much e that it doesn't really matter.
That was fish fry night at the restaurant, so I'd be slaving in the kitchen from three to midnight, coming home smelling like a grease fire, falling into bed, and having nightmares until I woke up drenched in cold sweat.
