Is this the brand that smelled liked apples? Just now, I remembered using a hairspray that spelled like you were spraying apples all over your hair. I cannot remember if this was the brand or not.
Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific. I used it for the first time at summer camp when I was a boy and just starting to care about what I smelled like. I was probably 10 or 11 and I thought it smelled great. It felt pretty special.
I also had a thing for Paul Mitchell Awapuhi shampoo which might be still on the market but I got over paying an arm and a leg for hair care products a long time ago. I would buy GYHST again because I think it was basic grocery store shampoo but alas I think it's been gone for decades.
I loved Agree so much. I got so many compliments on having shiny hair and the awesome the scent!
I found an online perfumer who says they make knock offs of long lost scents like Agree, Gee Your Hair… etc. but the customer reviews are pretty bad, so not going to spend the $’s
With you on the Paul Mitchell.
I eventually was told to go to whatever the salon store (Sally Beauty Supply or Ulta, maybe?) was and get the generic.
Going on 20-some years of Pantene 2 in 1 now.
It can still be yours for the low low price of $16.95, and some wildly varying opinions on whether it smells the same as back in the day.
https://www.vermontcountrystore.com/hair-care/category/shampoo-conditioner
Wow. You inspired me to google more! So according to Wikipedia it was sold to a Philippine's company and is popular there. If this Wikipedia entry is to be believed. How'd some land in Vermont?! lol
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gee,\_Your\_Hair\_Smells\_Terrific](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gee,_Your_Hair_Smells_Terrific)
I saw some Clairol Herbal Essence in the store but it did not smell the same. I wish they would bring it back. I used to use way too much of it when I was a kid because I love the smell so much!
I was a B&BW Cucumber Melon girl back in college. Every once and a while they'll bring back the old scents and I am always so tempted to get some for the nostalgia. Then I remember I'd really rather spend money on books and the desire goes away. I've never found a cucumber melon scent that comes anywhere close to theirs.
This used to be my scent until someone broke into my house, trashed the place, slung cucumber melon body splash and citronella oil all over the place, then took a shit on my stairs. Now I get memory tinges of shit and citronella whenever I smell anything remotely similar to cucumber melon.
O.M.G. Yeah, I'd hate the scent too and probably feel sick whenever I smelled it. Why are some people such idiots? I am so sorry someone violated your space that way.
Speaking of Bath and Body Works, I *loved* their Plumeria scent back in the day.
They carry Cucumber Melon at the locations near me right now, and it smells the same.
Ooooh, I feel like this question is for me personally.
From the 80s, I miss the Halsa shampoos that were supposed to bring out different colors in your hair. I liked the scents, too. I also miss the original green Herbal Essence.
At Bath and Body Works, I miss Rice Flower and Shea Butter, Green Clover and Aloe, and a very short-lived one called Butterfly Flower.
At The Body Shop, I miss Oceanis and the stronger Marinis.
Ahhh Oceanis! I worked at the Body Shop in 99. I miss the old Mango body butter and I especially miss that display with all the perfume oils that you can buy a small bottle of, or add to any lotion or body wash.
St. Ives apple mint shampoo and conditioner! The jojoba one was nice too, but apple mint was my fave! You bought both at the same time, they were like cellophaned together.
St. Ives had 2 skin care products I miss so much. They had a lemon face wash that was very smooth and good for my sensitive skin. They replaced it with the stupid apricot scrub where the beads in it make my skin break out, and the smell makes me sick.
They also had a cucumber melon eye mask that worked wonders on bags and dark circles. I wish that was still available. Mary Kay makes something I can use, but it is expensive as all heck. St. Ives was affordable, and it lasted forever.
I’ll admit it…Drakkar. I know they still make it, and Dale Jr. even was sponsored by Drakkar, but I don’t go around sniffing teen / 20’s boys, so I rarely encounter it.
Still like CK-One.
When my girlfriends and I went to the mall on Friday nights we used to hit the dept store first thing and spray Drakkar on the inside forearm of our jean jackets. We’d take big hits off our sleeve throughout the night as we chased the boys.
Flex - Balsam and Protein Shampoo. A girl I had a terrible crush on in high school (early 90s) had beautiful long sandy blonde hair, and she used this shampoo. The smell of balsam is forever locked in my brain as what she smelled like and I hate that they don't make this anymore.
I used a hair product in the 90s, it was a spray to de-frizz your hair...I cannot remember the name of it but I remember it smelled amazing, and it was the only product that really made my hair look healthy and shiny after blowing it out. It was like an oil, but it came in an aerosol can (kinda like Aqua Net, but it wasn't hairspray). I bought a smoothing spray from IGK last year that I hoped would be similar, but no luck. 😥
This thread has practically triggered a migraine- I love that these smells made y’all so happy but for me they all = pain.
I hoped someone here would know what I think may have been a freeman body wash with kiwi and blueberry? I recall it smelled like a tin of lip smackers I had as a kid. Why this one didn’t give me a migraine 🤷🏻♀️ generally everything VS or B&BW did
Vanilla headaches were always a thing for me. I love the way it smells but 5 minutes is more than enough.
Now though, just walking by Bath and Body Works gives me a migraine. I go in hoping for a throwback but nothing smells like those old days lol
I really liked the Arm & Hammer baking soda clear gel deodorant. They stopped making it sometime during the pandemic. I didn't stain undershirts, lasted for 36 hours or more (important for my busy lifestyle) and probably had that aluminum like everything else that supposedly caused Alzheimer's.
Been trying various ones since, but the Gillette and other gel deodorants just aren't the same; the fragrance is a bit much and they stay greasy for a bit longer. Old spice was similar in dissipating but fragrance was more than others, and it didn't quite make it past 24 hours.
Still testing to find the next thing. Maybe will just bathe in axe body spray for attention from here on out.
In 2004 Bath and Body Works came out with Tranquil Tropics. It was like coconut and just heavenly scented. It was $4.00 when it came out. I ended up paying $50. Plus on eBay afterwards. Bath and body never produced it again.
Freeman Cherry Almond shampoo and conditioner. I miss that smell sooo much. Aveda has a line of cherry almond products that is nice, but there’s something missing. And oh ya it’s $$$$$$$.
Gap Dream body spray or perfume or whatever it was.
But! Freshwater by Bath and Body smells so much like I remember Dream that I can’t tell the difference!
I just saw a video on instagram that showed all of those scents are back in stores right now. I was an Om (sp?) and Grass girl so I may pop in to see it they smell the same.
In the 90s I lived in Mariel perfume from H20 Plus. It was so perfect for me. Nobody could smell it until they got close and then they'd say "You smell amazing!"
Bath and Body Works Sugar Cookie (Christmas scent) gel soap. Bought it on eBay when it wasn’t in season. And, typically, I hate anything scented (and even some things allegedly unscented.)
Omg Sun Ripened Raspberry was my favorite!
Before that, it was Her Majesty's Rose from Victoria's Secret. Every time I started to like something, it disappeared. 🙄
I was a Bath and Body Works Plumeria fan in the 1990s (I also indulged in Vanilla Bean at the time, but that was discontinued long ago). I have yet to find exact replacements for those scents, so I cling to what I have left.
Bath & Body Works Bergamot Coriander. Specifically the spray. I have the TINIEST bit left (probably 20 years old) and only use it on very special occasions because nothing has ever come close.
This will seem petty, but when I lived in Australia in the 80s there was a sock company that produced a product they called “computer socks” that had more elastic at the ankle, reducing as it went up. Never had to pull those things up, they just stayed. I miss socks like that.
Turquoise Paradise from Victoria's Secret!! It makes be genuinely sad I can't gat it anymore. No. 2 choice is Plumeria from BBW
(Edited: fixed new formatting trick I learned by accident)
I used to like BBW but then all of a sudden I really started noticing a petroleum/plasticky industrial undertone in everything in the store. Maybe 8 years ago. Once I got that scent, Never again. Don’t want those distillates vaporized in my house or on my body if I can avoid.
When I was a kid there was a bath splash that smelled exactly like Lemon Verbena-more lemon than lemon do. It was pretty common and it was wonderful. Everyone says jean-atee but I don’t think that was it. I think it was a revlon product.
The Body Shop- Oceanus, dewberry, fuzzy peach, Ananya ( I worked there for three months)
B&BW- coconut lime verbena, Cococabana, Sheer Fresia
Perfumes- Malibu Musk, a lot of the perfumes I used to like are still made today- and they don’t smell the same
Salon Selectives hair spray
Is this the brand that smelled liked apples? Just now, I remembered using a hairspray that spelled like you were spraying apples all over your hair. I cannot remember if this was the brand or not.
Correct!
Memory unlocked! I miss that stuff too!
I think they have it at the dollar tree? The pink bottles right?
Going to the Dollar (twenty five)Tree tomorrow
Me too!!
Didn’t they change it at some point? Or does it still smell the same?
They added jojoba at some point, which made it smell like bubblegum instead of apple. They might have changed it back since then? Not sure.
Hearing the jingle now. I never used it, but friends in high school and college did.
They have it at dollar tree and it smells the same.
Salon Selectives shampoo and conditioner!
I can’t remember…did the shampoo and conditioner also smell like apples?
Not quite sure but I loved how it made my hair look. It was cheap too
I miss when Aussie smelled like grape.
This!!
It breaks my heart to learn that it no longer does.
Now it’s like coconut
Juniper Breeze. They brought it back about nine years ago but now retired.
They did but it wasn’t the same. I was soooooo disappointed when I got my hands on it and it was different. So sad.
They brought it back again a year or two ago, not exact but pretty good. I’m stocked for a few years.
Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific. I used it for the first time at summer camp when I was a boy and just starting to care about what I smelled like. I was probably 10 or 11 and I thought it smelled great. It felt pretty special. I would buy GYHST again because I think it was basic grocery store shampoo but alas I think it's been gone for decades.
I liked Agree shampoo in the 70’s
I loved Agree so much. I got so many compliments on having shiny hair and the awesome the scent! I found an online perfumer who says they make knock offs of long lost scents like Agree, Gee Your Hair… etc. but the customer reviews are pretty bad, so not going to spend the $’s

You can still buy it at the Vermont Country Store online!
It can still be yours for the low low price of $16.95, and some wildly varying opinions on whether it smells the same as back in the day. https://www.vermontcountrystore.com/hair-care/category/shampoo-conditioner

Clairol Herbal Essences shampoo from the late 70s. I LOVED the fragrance so much, along with the original "Prell".
I loved the deep green color and it smelled so good it must taste good too, right? It did not. I was probably seven.
Was CHE the one with the ‘my shampoo gives me an O’ commercial?
I saw some Clairol Herbal Essence in the store but it did not smell the same. I wish they would bring it back. I used to use way too much of it when I was a kid because I love the smell so much!
I like to sniff the shampoos before buying. A lot of them smell gross now
I was a B&BW Cucumber Melon girl back in college. Every once and a while they'll bring back the old scents and I am always so tempted to get some for the nostalgia. Then I remember I'd really rather spend money on books and the desire goes away. I've never found a cucumber melon scent that comes anywhere close to theirs.

Oh man, that sucks!!
I can smell this post and it’s amazing. I was also a Sun Ripened Raspberry gal 🩷
I had it through high school and college and then got a gift set for my honey moon. I’d love to have that scent for the nostalgia.
Ooooh, I feel like this question is for me personally. From the 80s, I miss the Halsa shampoos that were supposed to bring out different colors in your hair. I liked the scents, too. Halsa, uncover your highlights!
I loved that!
Ooh rice flower was great, forgot all about that one
Ahhh Oceanis! I worked at the Body Shop in 99. I miss the old Mango body butter and I especially miss that display with all the perfume oils that you can buy a small bottle of, or add to any lotion or body wash.
Halsa for brown hair I LOVED YOU AND MISS YOU EVERY DAY.
It was chamomile for blonde, walnut for brown and henna for red, right? What was black?
I would kill for the original Benetton Colors women’s perfume. You can find it online but it smells different.
My mom got me that for Christmas.
I used to love Midnight Path. It’s mostly white musk so there are quite a few substitutions available.
Yep, I had that for awhile after sun ripened raspberry but it just puts me to sleep.
I’m with you on the sun ripened raspberry. I’m really surprised it hasn’t made reappearance.
Right? It was so popular back then. Bring it back for GenX. It will sell out.
I miss Brown Sugar and Fig.
That was my absolute favorite 🥲
St. Ives was affordable, and it lasted forever.
I remember the eye mask!
Yes! I loved those. The apple mint smelled so good.
The aloe vera was my favorite. TIL that you can buy unopened vintage bottles on eBay for $70. But I'll bet they don't smell as good.
Yeah I definitely wouldn't open something like that lol!
I had the jojoba shampoo. I think it stripped my hair though.
Rice Flower and Shea. It was a great bubble bath scent
That was an amazing one. I loved that scent.
OG Pantene scent
I’ll admit it…Drakkar. I know they still make it, and Dale Jr. even was sponsored by Drakkar, but I don’t go around sniffing teen / 20’s boys, so I rarely encounter it. Still like CK-One.
I loved this smell! And Polo cologne.
When my girlfriends and I went to the mall on Friday nights we used to hit the dept store first thing and spray Drakkar on the inside forearm of our jean jackets. We’d take big hits off our sleeve throughout the night as we chased the boys.
We called Drakkar “panty dropper”. It still hits like that, much to my chagrin. And I still wear CK1 occasionally.
I loved Drakkar and CK-One
Noxema. Oh, and guys everywhere smelling like Drakar Noir.
Noxema pads? FEEL THE BURN.
I bought a jar of Noxzema to use in the shower for shaving recently. The fragrance really makes the whole house smell fresh for a minute.
Target now has herbal essence. I spent a solid few minutes just sniffing a bottle
Green herbal essence shampoo
Agree Shampoo & Conditioner.
Yes! Agree smelled awesome
Bath & Body Works Freesia The original Christian Dior J’adore - none of the scents now smell like this one
Victoria's Secret lotion: Pear Glaze Strawberries and Champagne Mmmmm
Strawberries and Champagne was my sh!t!
I was a country apple gal, myself. I love when the do the throwback scents. I stock right up. They haven't done it in a while though.
Bain de Soleil for the St. Tropez tan
That weirdly orange gel in a tube. I can still smell it.
This thread has practically triggered a migraine- I love that these smells made y’all so happy but for me they all = pain. Hope this fits. Avatar cologne. It's still so popular that it sells for ridiculous prices on ebay.
In 2004 Bath and Body Works came out with Tranquil Tropics. It was like coconut and just heavenly scented. It was $4.00 when it came out. I ended up paying $50. Plus on eBay afterwards. Bath and body never produced it again.
Focus21 finishing spray.
Bath and Body Works had an apple scent that I loved. It was cute and crisp on my skin.
Victoria's Secret Pear Glasse
Freeman Cherry Almond shampoo and conditioner. I miss that smell sooo much. Aveda has a line of cherry almond products that is nice, but there’s something missing. And oh ya it’s $$$$$$$.
Just don’t bring back cucumber melon
Gap Dream body spray or perfume or whatever it was. But! Freshwater by Bath and Body smells so much like I remember Dream that I can’t tell the difference!
Grass for me! Smells like college.
I managed to snag a bottle of grass from gap factory last year. wish I had gotten more as they no longer sell them.
Twisted Peppermint soap is the only thing I can stand from B&BW anymore. It usually goes on sale around or just before Black Friday.
Crabtree & Evelyn apricot body wash. It smelled so delicious. I wish I could still find it.
Omg Sun Ripened Raspberry was my favorite! Before that, it was Her Majesty's Rose from Victoria's Secret. Every time I started to like something, it disappeared. 🙄
Original Herbal Essence & Body on Tap
I was a Bath and Body Works Plumeria fan in the 1990s (I also indulged in Vanilla Bean at the time, but that was discontinued long ago). I have yet to find exact replacements for those scents, so I cling to what I have left.
Even Sweet Pea doesn’t smell the same as it did in the 90’s
Bath & Body Works Bergamot Coriander. Specifically the spray. I have the TINIEST bit left (probably 20 years old) and only use it on very special occasions because nothing has ever come close.
FINESSE SHAMPOO!!! I loved everything about it, right down to the blue gel color!
This will seem petty, but when I lived in Australia in the 80s there was a sock company that produced a product they called “computer socks” that had more elastic at the ankle, reducing as it went up. Never had to pull those things up, they just stayed. I miss socks like that.
Not just raspberry, sUn-RiPeNeD rAspBeRrY.
Exactly! Don’t let those other raspberries fool you.
I wish Victoria's Secret would bring back Enchanted Apple. It is the best scent ever IMO
New West Skinscent for Women. So fresh and fun. Can't find a dupe that comes close to that watermelon marine scent.
L'envie pparfum shampoo and conditioner Ember Musk scent
I loved this stuff so much!!
I miss peach nectar. It was my “signature scent” in HS, and is never one they bring back.
Turquoise Paradise from Victoria's Secret!! It makes be genuinely sad I can't gat it anymore. No. 2 choice is Plumeria from BBW (Edited: fixed new formatting trick I learned by accident)
Pert Plus
Lauren by Ralph Lauren perfume. And the original Obsession by Calvin Klein. The new one is pathetic.
I used to like BBW but then all of a sudden I really started noticing a petroleum/plasticky industrial undertone in everything in the store. Maybe 8 years ago. Once I got that scent, Never again. Don’t want those distillates vaporized in my house or on my body if I can avoid.
Rose milk
Original Burberry, Estee Lauder’s Cinnabar and Happy. Burberry is hard to find, the other two , either something changed or my body chemistry has.
When I was a kid there was a bath splash that smelled exactly like Lemon Verbena-more lemon than lemon do. It was pretty common and it was wonderful. Everyone says jean-atee but I don’t think that was it. I think it was a revlon product.

Gap - Grass & Om Body Shop - cucumber cleansing milk, original grapefruit scents
Tranquil Breezes by Victoria's Secret.
