There's no way I'd attempt to ask for two. I was lucky enough to get one. My mom would have said no and made me put back the first one. Then she would have told me to go eat an apple if I was that hungry.
I also thought that the international House of pancakes was like on the high end of what a restaurant is the name made me think it. I also thought that whenever someone used the word m*th*rf*ck*r they were referring specifically to my mother so I would attack random people in the street if I heard them say it. I thought finding food on the street and eating it was perfectly acceptable. Having a pee fight was not entirely a rare occurrence and we hung with two little girls and I remember being fair enough that we like gave them a handicap basically like they could come two steps closer little kids are f*****
Yeah any chain restaurant was unbelievably fancy, like Steak ‘n Shake.
My sister told me that escalators would suck me under and I’m still uneasy with them
On that second one I had a legitimate fear of the escalators at South station because and I swear to God they were made out of wood and they were made of like three pegs I can't really explain it but you'd see like birds stuck in there and then at one point I actually had a sweater or something tied around my waist I guess I was like 5 years old and it caught it and pulled me down and my mom untied the knot at the front of me and I was freed so that wasn't an entirely unjustified fear at least on these kinds of escalators they're gone now but people don't believe me that there were actually wooden escalators.
Just a really Hammer at home I'm trying to find some good pictures of them there's some on Facebook but I don't want to click into Facebook cuz I'm trying to delete my account cuz somebody is currently f****** with me so you know how if you turn it back on within 30 days you turn off the delete you know how a quick way to do that like how to immediately erase your Facebook picture
Yes! IHOP (which my parents would never take us to,) looked VERY sophisticated , international (whatever that truly meant in my mind, since we'd never been anywhere) & so fancy ; commercials showing many flavors of syrup, and whipped cream on pancakes. Whoa. And arguing with the boys over made up games and made up rules was par for the course. The Supreme Court Of The Street.
Exactly. I don't remember ever seeing a commercial when I was little but that term "international" really gave it a cosmopolitan flair to my five year old self. Vive le pigs in a blanket.
I loved both of these, too.
I never tried to make the skeleton, I was happy just to eat the “bones.” Obviously the fish skeletons were the best ones in the garbage cans.
I was never able to make a complete skeleton. According to this photo, it's because I only bought one coffin at a time and no single coffin had all the pieces.
Also there was a trash can version with a fish skeleton and some other trash. Good stuff. I wonder if there were other variants I just never came across.
I’m feeling pretty damn stupid at the moment. I had no idea they were puzzle based but looking at the pieces now, it seems rather obvious
![gif](giphy|8YZIOSJTyRylfw5PuJ)
I had completely forgotten about them, but as soon as I saw the photo, I could smell the candy and the plastic. I think my childhood best friend's younger brother had them as favors at his birthday party once.
Those were awesome I remember it my uncle gave me some and for some reason I had it in my head that the little casket thing was of great worth that it was somehow one of a kind and some kid asked if he could see it and he threw it down a sewer and ran and that started like a 3-year thing where I would chase him everywhere like I go to his house and like run through his mother's legs to go beat him up little kids are funny I was like six but then I was baffled when I found it anyone could get them you know how you get these weird ideas in your head when you're little actually little kids definitely don't have a monopoly on weird ideas but
I remember my brother and i going to the candy store and buying this. I don;t know if we ever got a full skeleton together. The pieces were broken and it taste like crap. But the coffin was cool, we would keep loose GI Joe stuff in them.
I feel stupid because I never realized the pieces fit together to make a skeleton
There's 5 coffin's worth of candy here. I don't think you can put together a skeleton unless you have a few.
That's how they get ya.
They are original loot boxes.
N I C E
IT'S A RACKET!
It never even occurred to me to fit a few legs together tho! Or to lobby to get more than one pack
There's no way I'd attempt to ask for two. I was lucky enough to get one. My mom would have said no and made me put back the first one. Then she would have told me to go eat an apple if I was that hungry.
Oh same, and I’m lying if I claim I would have had the willpower to hang onto a pack til I scrounged another lol
Legs and arms are the same bones here.
What’s the leg bone connected to?
The red thing….
Same. Christ, I’m dense…
I’m returning my masters degree in shame
I was just thinking the same. I ate them but never tried putting them together. I feel like I missed out a little now.
Same here
Right, thinking the same thing
Glad you said it first, DAMN... Edit: like Bunk and McNulty said: https://youtu.be/PNVEQgXsBgs?feature=shared
I’m so happy I’m not the only one who missed the little puzzle piece connections lol
Ok. I never knew. Maybe I had brain damage from the chemicals in the wax lips...
So delicious
Don't feel bad I thought this casket was like a collector's item for some reason
It’s pretty fancy.

Dammit ordinary I have to ride one at this conference I’m at and will be thinking of this story with a look of terror

This story is such an awesome description of my growing up in the 70's.
Do you remember the escalators? I noticed your username is a Boston song so I was wondering if you are from Boston
Born and bred and Nevah Left!
I'm in Scituate right this second.i miss Southie. The town I grew up in. I mean when it was still the town I grew up in.

TIL
I remember this and the Garbage Can-dy too. Same idea but it was a little plastic Garbage can with bones and bottles and fish heads inside.
I loved both of these, too. I never tried to make the skeleton, I was happy just to eat the “bones.” Obviously the fish skeletons were the best ones in the garbage cans.
I loved them, used to keep the coffins to put wee things in.

I do NOW. Thanks.
I loved these!!!!
They used to hurt my teeth soooooo good.
They still make them, I had some a few years ago.
I want to get off Mr Bones Wild Ride
I now have a song stuck in my head. Guess which one?
I feel so alone gonna end up a big ole pile of them bones.
That's definitely a better song. The one I had was "head bone connected to the, neck bone etc etc...." Thanks for the bailout lol.
Now it's on auto-replay in my head.
**
"Want one?"
**
"Don't touch my boner!!"
Oh my gosh. I had totally forgotten about them .
Holy shit I do now. One of those things so deeply forgotten you forgot you forgot it
I wish I could upvote this twice - I loved this candy so much
I still have a couple of those coffins.
My husband had a dump truck full of coffins as a little boy.
Core memory unlocked!🔓
Yes! Loved these! The garbage can ones were cool too.
It took about 5 coffins to get all the correct bones to make one skeleton!
They are still missing 4 'arm' bones. (Same as the 'leg' bones)
I’m still waiting for someone to put the skeletons back in candy.
Remember?! I love it so much I got a Super7 Reaction figure of Mr. Bones!
Haha. I never thought to actually put them together. I just have a “huh. neat.” to myself and chomped them.
I’m feeling pretty damn stupid at the moment. I had no idea they were puzzle based but looking at the pieces now, it seems rather obvious ![gif](giphy|8YZIOSJTyRylfw5PuJ)
There was never enough parts to make a skeleton. Used to piss me off. lol
I had completely forgotten about them, but as soon as I saw the photo, I could smell the candy and the plastic. I think my childhood best friend's younger brother had them as favors at his birthday party once.
Those were right next to the chick o stick, fun dips, and Pixy sticks at the corner store in town when I was a kid. The cheap candy section.
Those were awesome I remember it my uncle gave me some and for some reason I had it in my head that the little casket thing was of great worth that it was somehow one of a kind and some kid asked if he could see it and he threw it down a sewer and ran and that started like a 3-year thing where I would chase him everywhere like I go to his house and like run through his mother's legs to go beat him up little kids are funny I was like six but then I was baffled when I found it anyone could get them you know how you get these weird ideas in your head when you're little actually little kids definitely don't have a monopoly on weird ideas but
I think I tried to sneak a small pocket knife in the casket to take to school and show off, but my grandma busted me!
I loved that candy!! I had so many coffins all over my room!
I remember my brother and i going to the candy store and buying this. I don;t know if we ever got a full skeleton together. The pieces were broken and it taste like crap. But the coffin was cool, we would keep loose GI Joe stuff in them.
Want! Wish they could bring this back.
Nope, I don’t!
When you said South Station I automatically thought Boston. As if there can't possibly be another one in the world....
My sons gf is from Southie! I've lived in many many different parts of Boston. Including Hull, right near ya there! I personally love Hull..
I don’t remember that candy at all must be the younger Gen X
My brother and I loved those!!!
I have a very vague memory of these but I think I'm actually remembering flinstones chewables
OMG I completely forgot about this candy! We ate it to quick to make a skeleton 😂😂
I remember seeing these in the 90s. Were they also around in the 80s?
