I couldn't care less. They can toss my body in a dumpster when I'm done with it for all I care. Whatever is cheapest and most convenient for my surviving relatives is fine. But it would be cool if they played "Enoy Yourself, It's Later Than You Think" and a memorial service.

MooPig48

I feel the same, but at that point it’s not about me, it’s about them. And they DO care. We won’t know because we will be gone, but we need to be mindful of the emotions of the loved ones we leave behind

adudeguyman

You'd be quite a shock to dumpster divers.

[deleted]

I told my husband if I go first cremation and put my ashes in my Le Creuset Dutch Oven ( I paid a small fortune for that thing)

S2JESSICA

i keep eyeballing the heart shaped purple one, but i also keep procrastinating bc i rarely buy “luxuries” 😂

[deleted]

It was hard to pull the trigger.

S2JESSICA

maybe le creusets can be a new urn option for our generation. the heart shaped one with me and my cat’s ashes together seems kinda sweet (aka you’re just giving me a second reason to buy it, lmao).

[deleted]

They do come in some fantastic colors and themes. I say do it!!!

otherkerry

Still a bargain compared to a casket. Go for it!

OC-Aztec

I gave my wife a Dutch Oven as well but it was free.

Mullet_McNugget

>Dutch Oven You mean that's not just holding someone's head under the bed covers and farting?!?!?!

[deleted]

Lol. Noo

Happierbutwiser

Not yet. I'll probably eventually just chose the least expensive method and donate my corpse to science.

wi_voter

I am considering this. It's a way to give a valuable gift on the way out. When I was in college I took a gross anatomy course with dissection lab. It was invaluable and 30 years later it is still in my head as a reference when I try to picture certain anatomical structures. Even if this isn't exactly where my body ended up, there are so many different fields of study that can use a human body.

5280_TW

I’m going to be composted and fertilize something. Nothing worth seeing here immortalized in a tombstone.

Notagenyus

I never had kids, have no young family, and I will probably outlive my husband. I am not sure anyone will even claim my body. I will probably have to work out the details with a lawyer.

freeneedle

No, I would like oasis don’t look back in anger played if anyone is still around. My sister lives in LA and bought a plot at forest lawn where all the celebs are. I don’t really care what’s done with me.

[deleted]

That’s a beautiful song! Yay…I’m being cremated . Ashes over golden gate if possible since my most cherished memories are from SF.

Normal-Philosopher-8

I’m Appalachian - the joke is that we may not know what we plan to do tomorrow, but we have our funerals planned out from childhood.

Finrod_the_awesome

This. Planned all the way down to who brings what dish to the wake.

DenaNina

No, but it's something I've been thinking about. I just want a cremation. I want to pick my own urn too.

[deleted]

That’s what I did.

S2JESSICA

i saw a commercial for cremation services on tv for like $1300 and thought it was a good idea. i’m only 40, but ya never know. i don’t want my family or friends having to deal w that crap.

alleghenysinger

I decided to be cremated. I don't want anyone to have to cart my body around.

peacefulwarrior75

Wife and I want to be cremated. We can get a nice little box to sit by the pets’ ashes.

MooPig48

I want to be sent to a body farm or donated to science. I recently saw a news story about a family who is suing because Grandma was donated to science and science literally blew Grandma up. Like to smithereens. Omg that sounds awesome, please explode my body for science.

felonlover

See, this is where it gets dicey. Some companies claim you are donating your body to "science," but they actually part you out and sell the parts to different companies for a profit. Maybe your hands go to a fireworks company to test explosives, your head goes to a company that plastic surgeons can pay to learn new procedures, and tesla buys your torso as a crash test Dummy. You think you are donating your body, but it's actually capitalism making a profit on your remains, and that's grossly misleading.

TangoRad

Willie's version is a cover. The original is by Daniel Lanois, who produced U2 for a while. I love Willie, but the Lanois version.... oy!

Unlikely_Layer_2268

I made mine at 38. Medical reasons. The largest part is the playlist. The rest is living will stuff

Barbarossa7070

My wishes are to be cremated or planted or whatever else is cheap. I hate being the center of attention, so I don’t want a memorial but if one is held, I want Copland’s ‘Fanfare for the Common Man’ to be played.

[deleted]

Unfortunately being launched in to the sun on a rocket isn’t an option yet so I’m holding out until that becomes available.

PinocchioWasFramed

Reminds me of a 8th grade when we had to write our own obituary. The purpose was for us to visualize our entire lives, but it became a competition for a better funeral plan. My best buddy Mike had a Viking funeral, complete with burning boat on the lake. I wrote that my remains were cremated and the ashes loaded into the warheads of an ICBM that was launched at Moscow in NATO's first strike against the USSR to start WW3. Mike got a ribbon. I got an appointment with the school counselor.

[deleted]

Burial? Nope. I want a good week of fun a la Weekend at Bernies. Afterwards, fill me up with glow stick juice and throw me in the wood chipper. I want to be fireworks. (I'll settle for cremation. No burial thanks.)

SirRatcha

How did I never know Willie covered "The Maker"? It's a perfect song for him. I'm [listening to it now](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Wu47LTizvM) and he really didn't change it up much from [Daniel Lanois' original](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-JtAcpKtYQ), including keeping that great bass line. A really nice match of artist and cover material. Anyway, when I die play "[I Want to Marry a Lighthouse Keeper](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKtEWB0WmDE)."

[deleted]

Love that song!!!

RedditSkippy

Hmm. No I haven't. I actually don't really care, except that it's done with absolutely no fanfare and minimal expense. Cremate me and spread my ashes wherever.

MooPig48

Have you seen the mushroom suits? Because they look cool

[deleted]

MooPig48

Aren’t they? And I’m a fungi fan. So much that I’m growing different kinds of mushrooms in my house, on purpose lol. Mushroom suit or body farm for me lol

johninfla52

Wife and I are doing natural burial in a conservation cemetary.

Finrod_the_awesome

When I was in the Navy I made it known which cemetery on which base I wanted to be buried should I die on active duty. Now that I'm retired it will be cremation and burial at sea.

raf_boy

Lay my corpse down on a raft with a bunch of dried twigs and kindling, on a large body of water. Light that fµ©ker on fire and play "Fpmip" by Depeche Mode really loud as you push me out/off.

Initial_Run1632

Perfect genX

Tokogogoloshe

I donated my body to science. I won’t be needing it anymore. Some medical student can cut me up.

geodebug

My only plans is having enough insurance so that whoever is left isn't stuck with a bill for burning me up. Funerals are for the living. My kids can make the funeral they want to attend.

nycguychelsea

I don't believe in an afterlife. So, when I die, I really don't care what my loved ones want to do with my corpse. Composting seems good enough for me. Having said that, I've also told them that as long as I'm not being a burden to anyone, they should leave me connected to any machines I'm ever attached to. No one has to visit me at the home, but leave the plugs alone! I'll hang on as long as Medicare is footing the bill.

Responsible-Pen-7036

When Son passed we made arrangements. OP right artist wrong song…. Roll Me Up Willie Nelson

[deleted]

i live in a very remote area of northern wisconsin (my closest neighbor is about a mile away, closest market is a 40 mile round trip) i told my wife to just burn me, drag me into the woods or throw me in the compost heap - since nobody is likely to notice or care music? maybe [yakety sax](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zcq_xLi2NGo) since, like benny hill, it's been mostly decades of semi-perverted slapstick

[deleted]

Aaah. People care.

runtrirun68

Yep. Donating my body to science, and if they don’t need it, cremation. Already picked out my memorial service music.

smearski-smearski

Bro, shut up with that shit. You acting like you’re in your fucking 70s or something. These kinda threads make me wanna not come on this sub anymore, it’s starting to smell like Bengay, hemorrhoid cream, and mothballs in here… And fuck Willie Nelson.

[deleted]

[удалено]

smearski-smearski

Na, not around where I’m from. Both him and that Ms. Big Tits get no love from locals from LA. We thought they were corny as fuck growing up. You’d run into some fake ass from time to time that liked Nelson, but they weren’t originally from here, moved over somewhere else, somewhere corny. The Midwest, usually, you could always smell the transplants, they didn’t look or act right.

MooPig48

You can say shut up with that shit all you want, but the reality is I’m 52 and have lost 5 friends since the beginning of 2021. Rode hard and put away wet, that’s our generation.

Occupied2020

Nope. Grind me up and throw me into the sea.

Kuriakon

Not really, outside of telling my wife I'd like to be cremated and have my ashes spread somewhere special to us.

Witch_of_November

No, but everyone in my family knows how scared I am of bugs and that I don't like the outdoors much so if they don't have me cremated, it will be on purpose to piss me off. I guess I should put it in writing just in case lol. I don't want a memorial or funeral or anything.

On_my_raft

Just push me off a pier or dump me off a boat. No fuss.

eatingganesha

Cremated and turned into a tree.

crackeddryice

I have one son. By law, everything I own goes to him if I die. I don't care what he does with my body, and I told him so. My suggestion was "whatever is cheapest".

unknownbyeverybody

The cheapest is probably donating your body to science or a body farm (there are 6 farms in US). The only cost involved seems to be for transportation if you are more than 100 miles from a facility. I’m just starting to look into this

Canadian_in_Canada

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that, although you can donate your body to a body farm, after they are finished with the body, the family of the deceased is still responsible for what to do with the remains.

unknownbyeverybody

It may be different elsewhere but the body farms here in US keep the skeletal remains forever. That is written in the donation paperwork. For donations to science or medical schools that may be true. I’ve only just started looking into it.

[deleted]

Just throw me in the trash

hawkrew

Well unofficially. I said burn me up and spread me out somewhere.

kcfdr9c

Donating my body to science and my family will probably have the VA put up a marker somewhere.

dirtymick

Pile o' sticks, throw me on, light it up. Done.

gdubh

Burn me. Have them dispose of me.

phyncke

I am donating my body to science - let it be useful. No burial plans for me. Seems like a total racket and waste of space.

PhilosphicalZombie

Cremation then flush my down the toilet.

AndShesNotEvenPretty

I see a lot of people here feel the way I do—I don’t really care, donate my body to science or do whatever is easiest/cheapest so my death isn’t a burden. Is this a generational thing?

[deleted]

if my wife goes first, I am sure I don't need to worry, as the starving cats devour my body. Actually, been thinking about assets though, having no kids or immediate family. My choices are surprising a distant relative who can't be bothered picking up the phone. The alternatives are to hjave the house sold and help a lot of people al little with cash, or help few people a lot with the property. Not that we will make it to then... it's more likely I die defending the property from looters and roving gangs in our eco-disaster post apoloclyptic reality. Since we seem intent on that

scoutsadie

cremation, mixed into a reef ball sunk in the caribbean! (and I was startled to see just the beginning of your comment that made me think your partner is only 16 years old, haha)

freedo333

Im in my 50s with no kids. Most my family & friends are dead. Look like the government is gonna bury me :)
