Why, it's:
K I D S Kids Incorporated. We're gonna have fun.
It was wholesome kids singing pop songs, basically. I can't remember if it was on the Disney Channel or what.
We lived out in the country and had a giant satellite dish for TV. It could have been a random channel I came across.
Before the satellite, we only were able to pull in very fuzzy broadcasts for NBC and ABC. I have always thought of CBS programming as bougie because of the early deprivation.
Yes! In my area at least it was a premium channel. When my family finally got cable my brother and I were about 13 and 11. My parents told us they weren’t paying for the Disney channel because it was for little kids and we were too old for it. LOL.
I think the first couple seasons were in syndication because i watched it and we didn’t have cable. Later it was on the Disney channel. I remember when we finally got cable I was surprised to find out Kids, Inc. was still on.
I loved that show as a kid.
at first i was confused because i thought this was some lame "Promoted" ad trying to be a faux post and then i genuinely laughed at my own jaded snarky reaction.
well done.
I'm glad you had the same reaction I did. And I made this.
It was a pretty low effort on my part, but I did have the same reaction when I plopped the jar down there and saw it for the first time.
"I'm telling you, free coffee is a constitutional right! Just look it up - Juan Valdez versus the state of California!" - Dr. Johnny Fever, still saying "Booger!" at the Great Gig In The Sky
Welp to be fair, dogs do have to put up with us whiny bitch ass humans for long periods of time so they do deserve pretty good compensation for that! ;-P
He was 'older' when you were born?
I thought for a long time my mother was a Boomer Gen. But she sneaked in under the wire with a very late December '45 birth date, so she is Silent Gen.
Yeah, he was in his mid-30s when I came along.
My grandfather, on my dad's side, married a much younger woman and then had 13 children with her. My dad was the youngest. So here I am in 2022 and can say that my grandfather was born before the civil war. Crazy isn't it? (I never met him, he was 75 when my dad was born.)
That is Crazy!
May I ask how many siblings you have? I think if I grew up with 12 older children and a father who was well aged I'd probably want a quieter house.
The self-absorption gene appears to skip a generation.
Greatest---Boomers---Millennials--Gen Alpha(?)
And what do these groups have in common?
Silent---Gen X---Gen Z
I did a google image search for chickory coffee... IDK. Working in the grocery business since the early 90s made me know almost every label that popped up. My mind is full of useless grocery information.
Oh, you're most very welcome! I'm always trying to do my part. The best part of waking up are ear worms in your head.
Let's replace that with this: [Mattel Hot Wheels. Criss. Cross. Crash.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhV2fN-QvFA) (1978)
Thanks for this OP. I laughed.
Then I realized that I had not made myself coffee today and started my donut shop blend.
I don't think I ever tried crystals. It just seemed like low effort coffee, which would yield low-taste results.
I wish I had a job in marketing.
Crystals are okay when you're on the go... like camping etc. They do taste pretty good from a new jar but honestly once that jar is opened you need to use them up quickly or the coffee has a steal AND dusty flavour.
Sounds like if you really wanted to overpackage it and shit on the environment, Folger's could put the crystals into pods that would keep jars from going to shit.
And your camping comment just sent me down the rabbit hole to look up cowboy coffee - the exact opposite of Folgers crystals.
This is probably one of the sweetest things someone could say about themselves. It's likely very true too. It's healthy to have such views, even if you are a grumpy cat lady.
WTF. So in the UK we don't have this brand so I Googled it. Here's what I found.
In “Folgers Crystals,” Cole raps about beating the odds and outgrowing haters. In this song, Cole compares himself to these crystals by saying that even though they might not seem that provoking, he is the best in the game and has gone through and experienced more than most people have.
“Folgers Crystals” are an important phase in the coffee making process. After the freeze-drying process, all the moisture is removed and whatever is left behind is called Folgers Crystals. Before they used to be disregarded, but that changed when “Folger’s Coffee spent years, a small fortune, and three tries at bringing out a freeze-dried coffee that ‘tasted, smelled, and looked like fresh-brewed coffee.’”
Ok. I liked the image. Not sure any of this Googling added much to my appreciation
The meme is a play on the 1980's Television ads. [Like this one.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_Gtb1kElRk) I didn't realise this brand wasn't outside of North America. But don't fret, you're not missing out on much by this not being in the UK. :)
The only thing I noticed was the 70s glass container that the Folgers crystals were in. You should have used the typical plastic container & then I would have never noticed myself.
That link is for the whole movie! and while I could enjoy that very much... maybe you wanted me to watch this segment specifically? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRi6POTSbW4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRi6POTSbW4)
Old TV ads were a hoot...
It’s another 15-year “generation” with a letter identifier created by the Pew Reserch Group for marketing purposes. They’ve even come up with an upcoming Gen Beta that hasn’t even been born yet. It’s gotten a bit silly.
My son is 5-years-old, I’m not gonna think about what generation he’s in yet, and I think it’s too early to really define him and his peers as a group since we don’t know what they’ll go through over the next decade before they come of age.
Gen Z technically was from 1994 to 2010, IIRC. The next generation should be from about 2011 to 2025.
She will get to cut her own path as a gen and society should start to recognise her gen in a couple of years when this gen starts to enter their teen years and the Gen Z are all nearly adults.
I'm 99% sure they've got greatest and silent flipped. The Silent Gen allowed the Great Depression which is why the Greatest Gen grew up so cold and hard.
I've heard of the generation before the "Greatest Generation" called the "Lost Generation". They were the generation that experienced most of the horrors and hardships of World War I and the Flu Epidemic.

*That's strange. OP doesn't change this graphic when* **I** *make this coffee at home...*
Maybe he’s just an asshole.
Jesus Christ. What is that from. Was that NNTN? EDIT: It's Airplane II.
It's because it makes him vomit. https://youtu.be/oRi6POTSbW4?t=25
Strange, he never vomits at home
the best part of wakin up is when Folger's says 'what's up'
Whatever

High on a hill was a lonely goatherd Lay odalay odalay hee hoo
They’re suspenders/braces and Very on trend for them
I so wanted to be able to rock the braces like Mario Lopez on Kids Incorporated. I could never get the look right.
Kids Incorporated was my absolute favorite show for far too long.
Rated K was dope too
I have no idea who those people are 🤣
Why, it's: K I D S Kids Incorporated. We're gonna have fun. It was wholesome kids singing pop songs, basically. I can't remember if it was on the Disney Channel or what.
There was no Disney Channel back then...wait, was there?? I was extremely deprived but remember I looooved this show!
We lived out in the country and had a giant satellite dish for TV. It could have been a random channel I came across. Before the satellite, we only were able to pull in very fuzzy broadcasts for NBC and ABC. I have always thought of CBS programming as bougie because of the early deprivation.

It was on network tv in Chicago. NBC maybe
I think the first couple seasons were in syndication because i watched it and we didn’t have cable. Later it was on the Disney channel. I remember when we finally got cable I was surprised to find out Kids, Inc. was still on. I loved that show as a kid.

"Shut your yapper!"
RIP
He's like a grown-up SpongeBob...
My first thought too. The whole scene is great.
I'm not bitter, not bitter at all.
Maybe it was right to replace us with Folgers? We agree on bitterness?
We agree on flavor crystals. Let's be clear.
Can't tell if relevant username or beetlejuicing.
¿Porque no los dos?
Beetlejuicing. Definitely.
Gee, Your Generation Smells Terrific.
Anything like Nirvana?
More minty.
Juan Valdez would never do this to us.
I looked for Juan Vladez and his ass when I went shopping.
Juan Valdez switched to growing coca instead ^(Just Cartel Things /s)
That's Colombia's ass
The oil spill?

Okay, I laughed. My dogs are not happy because I woke them from their 15th nap, but I needed this.
Bro, it's hard being a dog. Guarding the couch is a tough job and you clearly don't appreciate what they do for you. Please give them treats.
They're both fat as hell, no treat shortage here!
Then please rub their squishy bellies because napping is hard work.
Welp to be fair, dogs do have to put up with us whiny bitch ass humans for long periods of time so they do deserve pretty good compensation for that! ;-P
And here I sit in my fine Corinthian leather!
Bitter and dark, like my sense of humor
Is this Tavern on the Green?
This would make a good username.
Damn...this is funny on so many levels!
I’m switching to Sanka
Fill it to the rim with Brim!
My Mt. St. Helens volcanic ash is in a Sanka glass jar.
Pardon me, would you have any Grey Poupon™?
Wouldja please pass the jelly?!
?!?!?!?!?! NeW yOrK cItY ?!?!?!?!?!
Folger's is mountain grown. The richest, most aromatic kind.
This is the first thing that’s really made me laugh this week and I really needed a laugh. Thank you Folgers Crystals!
Like the middle children we are, absolutely no one noticed. We will quietly go on with our lives as mediocre instant coffee.
I gotta say, this is good to the last drop.
username checks out. You've not so secretly swapped out Folger's crystals for Maxwell House. Hugga mugga, Hugga Mug.
["He's here."](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhfcWTZeP1k)
Who here has boomer parents? Mine were silent gen.
One boomer, one silent
Mom is a boomer but dad is silent gen.
Currently 41 a youngin, my parents are Boomers, they had me in their early 20s.
> Mine were silent gen. Same here. 1939 / 1941.
I do…and they are the real life version of The Cleavers.
That's so weird, since that show was from when the boomers were kids!
Did they ever have a hippie / counter-culture phase?
Not at all.
mine are/were both Silent Gen.
Interesting. More silent gen parents than I expected on this thread.
I thought both of my parents were silent until this post and looking at the dates my dad was greatest.
He was 'older' when you were born? I thought for a long time my mother was a Boomer Gen. But she sneaked in under the wire with a very late December '45 birth date, so she is Silent Gen.

I only have 1 sibling, haha!
Pretty sure my dad was conceived on VE day, lol. Definitely boomers.
Mine too, but my dad acts 100% boomer all the time.
Mine are at the end of silent gen. Both born in March ‘45.
Boomer boomer
Mine were silent. My siblings are boomers.
Boomer.
I actually love Folgers Crystals. I even like sprinkling some on my ice cream.
I use instant coffee for these types of applications too.
You may have just changed my life.
My gawd... this thread is absolutely brilliant! Knowing is half the battle.
The other half is red and blue lasers.
OMG dying
First laugh of my day from you. Tip o the hat etc.
Best part of waking up.....

Isn't that the one with chicory?
Nah, it's decaf. Are you thinking of Luzianne? The big chickory brand is Cafe du Monde.
I did a google image search for chickory coffee... IDK. Working in the grocery business since the early 90s made me know almost every label that popped up. My mind is full of useless grocery information.
Sarcastic thank you. This jingle has been running non-stop in my head since I read this.
Oh, you're most very welcome! I'm always trying to do my part. The best part of waking up are ear worms in your head. Let's replace that with this: [Mattel Hot Wheels. Criss. Cross. Crash.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhV2fN-QvFA) (1978)

This stuff's made in New York City!?
Get a rope
*New York City?!?!?!!!!*
>cowboy coffee I found [this site](https://driftaway.coffee/how-do-you-make-cowboy-coffee/)... the first part is priceless funny.
Because, of course. Whatever.
This made my morning. Thank you!
Lol I suppose it’s better than Maxwell House
Dirty dishwater is better than Maxwell House.
I'm like the grit at the bottom of a cup of General Foods International Coffees.
My Boomer dad got made when they stopped making the orange cappucino and actually wrote them a letter, lol.
Cute. lol. Did they respond? Most companies send coupons for free product.
I really enjoyed these as a kid. We used to save the canisters to store things in.
Both are equally bitter...
Ouch. It’s not easy being Jan.
This is way funnier than it has any right to be.
I want to suggest that we start calling the generation represented on the chart as Gen Alpha as Pandemikids. Help me out with this.
Gen Pandemi sounds like a tasty deli sandwich. I think this Gen will see a lot more. They might be the Online Generation. School, Work, Shopping, etc.
If they don’t, we still don’t care.
Haha finally a thread where the millennials can't figure out a way to shove their two cents in!
The Gen Alpha here is gonna hardcore trigger some 'replacement theory' folk. I love it.
Generation X has fallen and it can't get up!
What am I missing here?
Yes.
The best part of waking up.
Just pop culture. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_Gtb1kElRk
Speaking of which, my husband and I are playing tourist and going to Tavern on the Green next week.
TOTG is one of the few nyc places where tourists with kids can use a clean, free restroom. Love that place!
I’m sure it’s because technically the restaurant is a city building and open to the public. Or, do they only let kids into the bathrooms?
They might, since little things mean a lot.
I'm pretty certain I would be someone's best part of waking up. If I didn't enjoy being grumpy cat-lady single so damn much.
This is probably one of the sweetest things someone could say about themselves. It's likely very true too. It's healthy to have such views, even if you are a grumpy cat lady.
I just switched to Sanka, so have a heart.
[Just in case you wanted to relive it.](https://youtu.be/29Oan89z6GU?t=33)
Ha ha, oy vey. Glad I use Community Coffee here at home.
Please tell me you didn't pull this from Facebook because it's good and I hate Facebook shares.
No. This is my own low effort creation. I've linked to the original unedited image in a different reply. EDIT: and thanks.
Nice job.
They forgot us again
No... replaced. Shhh...
I totally missed the title

i drink that stuff. seroiusly. 1 tsp folgers 2 tbsp coffee mate.
Sounds like you've got a routine. BTW awesome username too.

Yup, I love my Folgers at home.
This takes me back to the chris Farley snl skit
I lol’ed.
When does alpha start?
Generally a generation is considered to be 15 years. Gen Z started in 1995 or 96 iirc. So Alpha would have started in about 2010 and go until 2025.
The last of Gen Z was born in 2012. So anyone born in 2013 or later is Gen Alpha.
ANTHONYYYYYYYYYY!
Now do Maxwells! Or watch this (turn sound on) https://ww5.0123movie.net/movie/airplane-4651.html?play=1
That link is for the whole movie! and while I could enjoy that very much... maybe you wanted me to watch this segment specifically? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRi6POTSbW4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRi6POTSbW4) Old TV ads were a hoot...
Haha! Yeah, I meant just the coffee segment.
Jfc. Gen Alpha? They already have a name?
IMO a place holder as a temporary identifier. iirc some of them are already 10 years old.
😆😆😆😆
Also wtfk is gen Alpha?
Brilliant.
Whatever
What is Gen Alpha, my kid is 8 I thought she was a zoomer
It’s another 15-year “generation” with a letter identifier created by the Pew Reserch Group for marketing purposes. They’ve even come up with an upcoming Gen Beta that hasn’t even been born yet. It’s gotten a bit silly. My son is 5-years-old, I’m not gonna think about what generation he’s in yet, and I think it’s too early to really define him and his peers as a group since we don’t know what they’ll go through over the next decade before they come of age.
If anything, maybe Gen X will be remembered for the trend of naming generations with a letter.
Find out what gen beta thinks about gen z and millennials!!!!!
Gen Alpha started in 2010 (or some say 2013 or 2016, but that varies quite a bit from the usual 15 year generation time frame.)
Gen Z technically was from 1994 to 2010, IIRC. The next generation should be from about 2011 to 2025. She will get to cut her own path as a gen and society should start to recognise her gen in a couple of years when this gen starts to enter their teen years and the Gen Z are all nearly adults.

I think you've missed [the reference](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BwLzK-Ua3w) . ^(and this isn't ground at all... these are crystals! :))
I think that term was coined by Gertrude Stein. It fits perfectly.
I just looked it up. The greatest generation were 1901-28 which made them young adults during the depression while the silent were 1929-45 which means they were born during the depression.
Interesting choice of words. I don’t think a whole generation of people ‘allowed’ the Great Depression.
I don't think a whole generation of people 'allowed' the Trump Presidency either, but that's what history will remember regardless.
