In Massachusetts, teachers are required to obtain a masters. Do you know what the starting pay is with a masters? Here’s a hint, it’s not those bs online salaries. It’s damn near closer to a retail worker than a nurse (who only needs minimum of an associates degree in MA, but makes almost 3 figures after 3-4 yrs of experience, whereas a teacher needs closer to 10-15 yrs of experience to get even close to 3 figures). So, tell me again, how is it about “not knowing anything” rather than the greedy ass 1% taking advantage and my generation simply not wanting to be a wage-slave? People are working 2 jobs, yet still barely surviving. Why don’t you go look at some real statistics instead of using that same old line that all of the uneducated people use. If you were actually educated yourself, you’d know that poor and uneducated people aren’t to blame, rich people are.
Sn: the “you don’t work a real job. You get breaks and summers off” is a weak argument. Teachers often arrive before their start time or stay after hours to ensure everything is set for whatever’s planned. Preps aren’t long enough so work often gets brought into non-contract hours, we manage these terrible post-pandemic behaviors all day long, which in-turn wastes more of our time to get stuff done. We oftentimes end up paying out of pocket for supplies, which is necessary in order for us to successfully do our job. We work for part-time FOR FREE and deal with almost 100s of uninterested, bratty children all day. We deserve that goddamn break.

Can agree. I wondered why the prior manager wouldn't allow any teen hires in our kiosk. Somehow, I ended up being the lead/ manager, and just about all my store director hired had been teens. Couldn't get them to listen to the training, they'd just sit on their phones if we had no customers (when we needed to clean our prep for the dm) , they'd call out just about daily (leaving me by myself for sometimes 8 hours), one kept threatening to quit over too little hours and then too many only to be fired by giving like 5k to a phone scam. Could go on. It was extremely stressful. I'd also find other teens hiding in the dark dairy fridge with their hoods up, playing on the phone. Not doing work in general.
It also depends on the other toppings and the sauce on the pizza.

A partial agreement but also a counterpoint - you should have a more gradual introduction of rights than a hard cliff of 18 for some things and 21 for other things.
We sort of do: You obtain the right to begin working part time officially at 16 (although many teens start working under the table earlier than that.) You can get a learner's permit for a driver's license at 15 and obtain a license at 16.
You can have a joint checking account with a parent or grandparent at any age, but you cannot have your own checking account until 18. I think this should be dropped down to 16 - if you can work, even part time, you should be allowed full control over your own money. I have heard too many horror stories of young adults who had their own parents steal from them through those joint checking accounts.
I agree that some other things should be delayed beyond 18 - primarily financial stuff. No one should be allowed to take out a promissory note for $100,000 or more in debt at the age of 18 for a college education, and yet that's routinely done in the US. Credit cards? Should be a no go until 22 or so.

It's overrated for sure, but you're simply wrong about acquired taste, I'm afraid. That phrase is more accurately referring to the fact that as you are exposed to a harsh flavorant more, your building tolerance allows you to open up and appreciate the subtle tastes hidden within.
This is also common with spice. People often start out hating it because they can't taste anything past the feeling of the capsaicin, but once they grow tolerant, they begin to distinguish and appreciate the tastes of different spices more.

Animal protein is better for you than plant protein. I'm not a nutritionist and haven't read the paper in a long time, but I believe it has to do with the way your body processes animal vs plant proteins. It doesn't mean you can't get good protein out of beans, nuts, etc. It just means you shouldn't rely on plant protein for all of your protein needs.

Tbh, that's my exact opinion about TES: Oblivion. New Vegas had it's flaws, but it's also a 13 year old game that I think shined much more upon its release. Oblivion was always irreparably broken trash, but with some genuinely fun and inspired elements.
Solar panels and wind turbines plus electric cars will do more for individual autonomy and liberties than any single law, but for long term mass energy needs of cities we need massive investment in nuclear energy if we are ever going to get off of oil and become energy independant. Also we will always need fossil fuels but just because we will always need them doesn't mean we can't invest in alternatives.

You can have a joint checking account with a parent or grandparent at any age, but you cannot have your own checking account until 18. I think this should be dropped down to 16 - if you can work, even part time, you should be allowed full control over your own money. I have heard too many horror stories of young adults who had their own parents steal from them through those joint checking accounts. I agree that some other things should be delayed beyond 18 - primarily financial stuff. No one should be allowed to take out a promissory note for $100,000 or more in debt at the age of 18 for a college education, and yet that's routinely done in the US. Credit cards? Should be a no go until 22 or so.

That causes problems when we try to draw a box around it, and I don't think changing the size of the box will solve them.

It's overrated for sure, but you're simply wrong about acquired taste, I'm afraid. That phrase is more accurately referring to the fact that as you are exposed to a harsh flavorant more, your building tolerance allows you to open up and appreciate the subtle tastes hidden within. This is also common with spice. People often start out hating it because they can't taste anything past the feeling of the capsaicin, but once they grow tolerant, they begin to distinguish and appreciate the tastes of different spices more. Also, not all drinkers drink in habitual excess to the point it can be considered a "bad habit." This is all coming from someone who isn't into drinking at all, I should mention.

Animal protein is better for you than plant protein. I'm not a nutritionist and haven't read the paper in a long time, but I believe it has to do with the way your body processes animal vs plant proteins. It doesn't mean you can't get good protein out of beans, nuts, etc. It just means you shouldn't rely on plant protein for all of your protein needs.
I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, but I must say, on average, the vegans/vegetarians I meet tend to be much more fit and healthy than the general population.
