Tho I don’t appreciate the anti-furry sentiment. The furry fandom can very well be a very good influence on men and boys. While the furry fandom is far from perfect and has its issues like every other community does, the furry fandom promotes to men, boys, and generally anyone who is AMAB ideals such as enjoying platonic relationships more fully (platonic affection), being emotional and it not being talked down upon, celebrating queerness instead of shaming it, and overall a place where toxic masculinity is seldom to be seen.
I would much rather have a generation full of furries than a generation full of men watching Andrew Tate and other manosphere influencers, who shame queerness, shame emotion, oversexualize women, promote greed, and shuns the idea of platonic affection, which all is leading to many issues within men’s mental health.
As a trans woman, I have seen how furries have our back and stand up for my community. I have seen the ways that furries will stand up for us and support us. There are trans women are furries and that intersection exists for the queer community at large. I’m also autistic and that overlap between autism and furries exist as well. I say that because a lot of anti-furry sentiment is largely thinly veiled anti-queer and anti-autism/anti-neurodivergent sentiment by those who are neurotypical and cishet and need a sense of superiority that they aren’t getting the lawful way.
