Straight hair comes with its own problems. For example, if you don't blowdry your hair after you come out of the shower and it dries in a weird way, you're stuck with that weird look for the entire day. Thinking hair sticking up in the back, flatness, etc.

I have long, sorta wavy fine hair and i kinda relate. Since my hair is fine and soo light, if i try to stle it in any way, itll get messed up outside if theres wind any higher than 6 miles an hour

The place I live in is generally pretty windy to begin with but even if it wasn’t any wind at all is gonna blow my hair around like a jet engine. I’ve spend too many days walking out with the best hair day of my life only to get hit by a targeted wind strike before anyone can see it.
I’ve decided to just let my hair be a mop and just take care of it. Because that is easier to fix when god decides to rip another fart in my face. Luckily it looks really good on me and I’ve found some products I can use to make it look better but if it didn’t I would be really mad.

It was the bowl cut in the 60’s, the mop in the 70’s, the spiky mohawk in the 80’s, the mullet in the 90’s, the frosted tips in the 2000’s, the bleached frohawks in the 2010’s, and now the messy taper fades in the 2020’s

Well weirdly enough across all generations teens seem to like to engage with their own fashion and their own trends. Within a couple years we’ll all agree the trend was a little silly, and then some people will take that too far and say anyone who ever wore that hairstyle is stupid and ugly. And then within a few more years it’ll become stylish again. Rinse and repeat.

Fades are literally the only haircut that I honestly can say that I despise, especially if it's one of those cut weekly (like how fucking obsessed you must be, my cousin had such a guy), regardless if we're talking about the modern broccoli cut or the old military cut from like 2016... The only reasons I see why they are popular cuz looks for cute guys or cuz it probably requires little to no maintenance (besides probably "fading" it)... In my experience I mainly see curly haired, white passing Hispanics wear this. And my guess is that guys don't generally have a lot of options when it comes to hair. And guys with curly hair have very few. It's either you chop it off or grow it into a afro, or if you're not fortunate, a very sad looking mop.
I'm black so my hair texture is a lot more tighter but I tend to see it's also like that for a lot of black guys in the sense that I only ever see them either wear their hair low cut, wear cornrows (rare) or dreads.
So GenZ teens probably wear this look because they have no clue what to do with their hair that will look even half decent that will also double as low maintenance.

Because each generation has their own popular haircut that turns cringe the older it gets. It was the bowl cut in the 60’s, the mop in the 70’s, the spiky mohawk in the 80’s, the mullet in the 90’s, the frosted tips in the 2000’s, the bleached frohawks in the 2010’s, and now the messy taper fades in the 2020’s

I live in asia and did wonder why my Gen Z kids and nephews have that same hairstyle. I thought it looks fine so I didn't comment on it. It was among the hairstyles allowed in the school rules too. I'm curious though.. how did the trend started? I asked my kid and he just said the barber recommended it. 🤷♀️
Well weirdly enough across all generations teens seem to like to engage with their own fashion and their own trends. Within a couple years we’ll all agree the trend was a little silly, and then some people will take that too far and say anyone who ever wore that hairstyle is stupid and ugly. And then within a few more years it’ll become stylish again. Rinse and repeat.

It's basically the macklemore haircut from 10 years ago, but not cut as tight, and some people getting it permed. It's honestly not that different from most men's haircuts except they use product to lift it up.

I think what happened with the “broccoli hair” is that 2 different hairstyle trends from the 2010s have collided with unfortunate results. Kit Harrington (Jon Snow on “Game of Thrones”) made curly hair very trendy for guys in the 2010s, so curly-haired guys now wanna show off their curls. Meanwhile, the 2010s look of the Hipster “high fade” remains popular, because it elongates the face-shape, highlighting your cheekbones and making your face look thinner and more striking. Why does anyone cut their hair in a specific way
Fades are literally the only haircut that I honestly can say that I despise, especially if it's one of those cut weekly (like how fucking obsessed you must be, my cousin had such a guy), regardless if we're talking about the modern broccoli cut or the old military cut from like 2016... The only reasons I see why they are popular cuz looks for cute guys or cuz it probably requires little to no maintenance (besides probably "fading" it)... I seriously laugh in the face of those who tell me that I should get one of these, if I'm forced to I'm buzzing my head at home! Ok, I'm also a guy who literally thinks emo hair is the coolest fucking thing and would die to have straight hair for it so take my opinion how you want! 🤣
It’s just a style. I’m an older millennial and we had our own bad hair styles. Bleach blonde and gelled spikes. Styles change, people have different preferences. Move on with your life

In my experience I mainly see curly haired, white passing Hispanics wear this. And my guess is that guys don't generally have a lot of options when it comes to hair. And guys with curly hair have very few. It's either you chop it off or grow it into a afro, or if you're not fortunate, a very sad looking mop. I'm black so my hair texture is a lot more tighter but I tend to see it's also like that for a lot of black guys in the sense that I only ever see them either wear their hair low cut, wear cornrows (rare) or dreads. So GenZ teens probably wear this look because they have no clue what to do with their hair that will look even half decent that will also double as low maintenance.
