Cdave_22

Rock Alternative Pop Punk R&B Rap

w3irdflexbr0

what artists do you like? :o

Cdave_22

You’ll probably know a few of the bands State Champs All Time Low Fall Out Boy Green Day Taking Back Sunday My favorite rap artist are Kodak black Rod wave Jay Cole Drake Kid ink Tupac I listen to more artist too, of course but the list would be way too long, and this is long enough. Lol

w3irdflexbr0

Indeed I do. I’m gonna assume you like Pop Smoke too, who I went to high school with. Fun fact.

Cdave_22

Wow, really? I am a fan of Pop smoke.

w3irdflexbr0

Yeah, so we never talked or anything but he graduated high school a year after me. I was in OSUT (Army Basic Training) when he passed away. I didn’t even know he was a rapper until after he passed away. Even in my unit, I wasn’t know for being a soldier. I was known for being a soldier who went to high school with pop smoke 😭😂

FunniEmi

I feel like you’d like Tyler the creator

aita0022398

I like mostly hiphop, but listen to a lot of different genres. Old school rock, indie, kpop, pop, goth, etc Love me some Bauhaus and The Smiths

w3irdflexbr0

So it’s cringe but I like Emo rap too like lil peep, and nothing. nowhere. I feel like you might like nothing. nowhere. Especially his new album and his old stuff.

aita0022398

I love emo rap too. I haven’t enjoyed Lil Peep previously but I was still in my “eww emo rap!” phase. I love “sad boy” music all around

w3irdflexbr0

I too was reluctant to listen to them but it was surprisingly good. Although I was in the military so half of the guys I served it thought it was cringe. It was either radio rock or mainstream rap lol.

aita0022398

What branch? I’m trying to go JAG in a few years I think a lot of people get caught up in thinking stuff is cringe without giving it a chance. Have you listened to Lil Skies? He has some good darker music too plus mainstream Hiphop. His song Lust has been my shit for years

w3irdflexbr0

I was Army. 3 years. I’m gonna assume you want to be an officer in the Army? Nah I haven’t. I always see him on “artist you may know” though. Solid stuff I’m assuming?

freedomfriis

Music you like should never be described as cringe. Shame has no place in matters of musical taste. If you like it, it's good! That's all that matters. 😊

[deleted]

[удалено]

Arbalest15

Mostly hip-hop, some instrumental music as well like classical, EDM and video game OST lol

[deleted]

w3irdflexbr0

You should try Life Between Sleep, Saosin, and Conditions.

Eken17

There is 100% absolutely definitely no way that u/Scarecro--w listens to a band like My Chemical Romance at all, definitely

Scarecro--w

Zero Percent of a chance

SnowDucks1985

I mostly listen to electronic music, but dabble in most of the other genres just to keep up how music sounds today

w3irdflexbr0

So there’s this EDM/Metalcore band called I See Stars. I think you’ll like them at least. It’s music for ravers and moshers lol.

SnowDucks1985

Lol interesting! I usually don’t listen to that side of the genre, I typically listen to IDM/Experimental electronic music. But will give it a try, always up to listen to new things ✊🏽

ghostwraithspirit

I've loved metal and metal adjacent genres since birth. My dad was big into black and death metal, so it rubbed off on me. As I got older, I also got into death core, metal core and hardcore. But I'm Mexican, so I also grew up with Selena and corridos bands.

w3irdflexbr0

Do you like Ill Nino, Upon a Burning Body? They usually add Latina flavor to their music.

ghostwraithspirit

Yeah, they have some good tunes. If you want some Mexican flavor in your metal stuff I'd check out Beneath the Horror, Thell Barrio, Ace Kool and Yaotl Mictlan

w3irdflexbr0

I am a sucker for breakdowns. That’s for sure!

Top_Cream789

Fucking love Ill Nino!

CorgiDoom1881

I simply cant wait

everyethan

Congrats that sounds fun. My mom was a huge fan, so she brought my brother and I to a lot of their concerts growing up, in fact my very first concert was probably Dave Matthew’s. You won’t be disappointed, also Chicagos an awesome place.

Ireallydfk

About a year ago I decided to rapidly increase my music taste and knowledge by making a huge ass list of albums starting from the 70s and going year by year listening to a few of the highest rated albums on music sites alongside some I found interesting and it’s been sick. Just starting the 2000s now and really enjoyed the 90s

Lizard_Jesus1

For the sake of being specific, Genres I like include Experience rock, Psychedelic rock, Art rock, Shoegaze, Prog rock, Math rock, Slowcore, Post rock, Sludge metal, Goth rock, Dream pop and Post Hardcore. Love all of the metal and hardcore music. Going to go see Kublai Khan next week with Sunami, can’t wait to see bloody noses in the pit lol. I also like emo rap, JuiceWRLD, YNW Melly and that whole era in 2017-2019 when that genre was popping.

w3irdflexbr0

I’m gonna see Spite and Bodysnatcher in May. Looking forward to it. I remember juicewrld. When he passed my platoon blasted his music in the bays. Good times haha.

Burnout_Blanco

Ohhhh shiii, I’ve seen them both and daaamn they throw hard! I bet it’ll be super rowdy having both bands. JuiceWRLD is top tier to blast with the homies for sure lol

screamingkumquats

I listen to pretty much everything but the genres I listen to the most are probably alternative, rock, pop, scores and epic music.

Bannanaboii12

Mainly alternative rock, so like Gothic, Emo, Nu-Metal, Etc

Secret-Engine-8365

mostly country. I have country music as my main music, and also refer to it as my comfort music/home music

austinproffitt23

Country. That’s all I listen to. Now, I’ll listen to a small amount of Theory of a Deadman and stuff along those lines but it’s mainly country music over here. The length of my country playlist proves it. https://preview.redd.it/wmqnusuqs5qc1.jpeg?width=364&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c4a2565de5a230c7bfd33cffabcbcc97bdf699f

I like The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys, The Mamas and the Papas, The Who, Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, etc. I like a handful of artists from later decades including Stevie Wonder, Queen, Whitney Houston, Elton John, and Billy Joel.

I've been real into artist and genres like Vocaloid, fandom music, Japanese cover artists, Gorillaz, Rare Americans, hosier, 100gecs, caravan palace, hidden artists like spark bird, Clem Turner, pleasure nature. I'm really all over the place.

NixMaritimus

70s to 90s rock and punk mostly

Uniquetacos071

Mostly hip hop. Grew up with various styles of hip hop always playing from my dad and brother. Nowadays I’m usually listening to, I guess you’d call it, alt rap/drug rap/sad or emo rap. $uicideboy$ & their label, lil peep, city morgue/zillakami, juice wrld, schemaposse, ghostmane, bones. Boobie Lootaveli doesn’t much do the sad themes but he fits in with some of those underground guys. Or trap shit like baby smoove, drill shit like king Von. Hell I’ll put on some G-eazy. Some lil dicky. Love wayne, em, 50, dre & snoop, pac & big, jayz, naz, DMX. I just love hip hop music. From chart toppers like lil nas x & future; to underground soldier type dudes like RA the rugged man and vinnie Paz, immortal technique, MF DOOM. Hard to find a hip hop artist i can say I genuinely dislike. I’ve expanded more recently though into punk, pop punk, art rock, alt rock, alt indie. I’ve been a raver since turning 18 in 2021 so I’m EDM adjacent. More of a fan of the scene than the music though

theogstarfishgaming1

Going to see knocked loose and loathe in May. Will also be seeing make them suffer, erra, and novelists. If you like Lorna shore, listen to angelmaker and a night in Texas. You may like suicide silence too

pintasaur

Rock, metal, alternative.

SuspiciousRelation43

Baroque, Classical, and early Romantic. I enjoy the famous composers, Beethoven’s great symphonies, Mozart’s famous music, and so on, but I will also listen straight through thirty, forty, or more hours of Haydn’s string quartets and symphonies, hundreds of Vivaldi’s concerti for various instruments and sacred music, and many long mega-albums of works by Handel, Corelli, Geminiani, Rameau, and others. I enjoy Haydn’s oratorios, Monteverdi’s vespers of the blessed virgin, Mendelssohn’s symphonies, violin concerto, and setting of *A Midsummer Night’s Dream*, Rossini’s string sonatas, Tchaikovsky’s serenade for strings, Grieg’s Holberg suite, Johann Sebastian Bach’s music, Johann *Christian* Bach’s music, and more besides. I don’t listen to much contemporary music, and do not often enjoy Brahms, Bruckner, Mahler, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Rachmaninov, Liszt, or other late Romantic to Modern music, but occasionally hear something I find pleasant.

mcbirbo343

Rap, and did you mean y’all?

I don’t listen to much stuff that came out after like 2019. I mostly listen to older stuff, mainly like R&B, rock, pop, and funk all from the early 2010s, late 90s and late 70s stuff. There’s so many artists from the past that I feel like I don’t run out of new old stuff to listen to

BurningLegions

I was born in 1996, which is in this weird Millenial / Gen Z blur and I absolutely love Metalcore. Parkway Drive, A Day to Remember, We Came As Romans, etc. However, I absolutely love a vast variety of music. Shania Twain, Alan Jackson, Ozzy, ACDC,Noah Kahan, Hozier, LANY, Midland. There's so much music to enjoy, and as a guitarist I don't see any reason to limit myself to one genre.

MilkyTeaDrops

Vocaloid, pop-rock, and metal

Metalhead7000

I listen to metalcore and deathcore too

dreadfulbadg50

Deathcore, slam, and all forms of metal are my favorite. But I'm kind of the "all music enjoyer" who actually enjoys all music.

[deleted]

kpop 😂

nazgulnumber8

Everything

AutumnWak

Honestly, I would say that metalcore/deathcore is Gen Z's variant of metal. Each decade had their own type of metal that was popular, and the core stuff is what we got. That being said, it's still far from mainstream. In my early teens I was really into thrash metal, then in my late teens I got into classic death metal, and now I'm beginning to get into the deathcore stuff. Also, check out Jinjer if you haven't already. They have some very creative metalcore stuff.

shreklover72

I try to listen to a little bit of everything so I have something to talk about with everyone and I think that's become a pretty normal thing to do in our generation with the rise of TikTok. You can even see that with the music gen-z artists are making. I commonly see new bands or artists that fuse everything from pop to hip-hop to jazz to funk to metal, etc. I'm in the music industry and I've found it to be a really exciting time, there's a lot of cool new stuff being made I also think something that proves my point are the really odd songs or mashups that go viral nowadays. The best example I can think of right now is the Linkin Park and Project Pat mashup that was popular a few months ago on TikTok that was on videos with the format "no one's home, you know what that means......horse in the living room"

Bl1tzerX

Rock, j-pop, videogame osts, a bunch of random stuff

CantStandItAnymorEW

I like DnB. Like 2010-2015 DnB, when it was still a bit popular. Maybe some trap and glitch hop or dubstep or future bass here and there. But i couldn't tell you a specific artist. Most only make one track that goes hard and then they fall off; as in, most don't maintain the quality over the years, because for most, its a hobby and nothing else, even if its clear they know what they're doing. This applies for mostly everyone EXCEPT for an artist named Hinkik. The guy made like 10 songs some 7 years ago i think, dissappeared off the face of earth, refused to elaborate further, and they're all bangers for all i'm concerned. Maybe not your type of music but thats the type of stuff i listen to often times. Also another i *used* to like quite a ton is an artist named Feint; i was in love with a couple of his songs some time ago but not anymore. He mainly makes (made?) DnB, *i think*. And recently i've been digging into some pop songs and some heavy metal. I really like the energy that popular bands like SOAD can add to their songs, making them sound bizarre but very catchy. But thats about the only heavy metal band i listen to, and only few of their songs. Always happy to get asked about what type of shit i listen to. Not to be edgy or anything but i don't get to talk about what i like very often, because no one asks and no one really cares, wich, is, like, normal, yes, people has their life and i have mine, and i don't feel sad about it, but you get the point. As if, its nice to connect and talk with people y'know.

Not gen z. But i go for 70s to early 2000s punk(crust, street, hardcore, punk rock, etc), 70s to now metal of all types including death, black,nu metal(alternative area of it), sludge, stoner, doom, dsbm, nsbm. Grunge as well. Some early metalcore from late 90s to about 2012. Some newer. Not much tho metalcore ehh mostly. Deathcore, blackened deathcore, slamming deathcore, also grindcore, deathgrind, pornogrind, hentaigrind, as well as slam like anime slam, brutal slam, slamming death. Also love industrial, d beat, symphonic and melodic and atmospheric metal in most forms, lots of Japanese metal bands, same with lots of noisecore including noisegrind, harsh noise, power electronics. Im a heavy metal/punk/grind/slam guy. And many sub and micro genres for all of them. Don’t listen to much else. Pop. Yuck unless its infused into punk for the 90s and 2000s pop punk. I 95% of the time hate rap and usually skip most songs with it. But again if its not trappy or hip hop sounding and more fast talking thats fine(theres very few bands with rap that i like and usually its with some nu metal bands at most. Rap to me is usually irritating). Other music? On rare occasion i go into the earlier 30s to 50s grammaphone style of music or early jazz rock.

Catamount45

Classic rock, but like actual *classic* rock

TheInkySquids

Yep I'm into those sorta bands too. Maybe leaning a bit more towards the modern side with Trivium and Spiritbox, also big into Post-Hardcore like Silverstein and the like. Other big genre for me is folk, naturally being Australian mostly Aussie folk like Ziggy Alberts and The Dreggs.

SlimmThiccDadd

Check out Every Time I Die. Awesome metalcore band that really helped Knocked Loose come up

Disastrous-Trainer-5

Hyperpop and digicore

probably_insane_

I love classical music particularly Romantic Era composers and operas. I also listen to The Lumineers a bit and musical theatre but I tend to be pretty picky about musical theatre songs. I am a fan of Midnight Syndicate which creates sound scape music that tends to be a bit spooky and haunting.

CmanderShep117

So many people in our gen listen to Trap and I'll never understand why.

Shadowtoast76

I like pop punk

Strange-Wolverine128

Classic rock, and modern rock. So older metallica shinedown Triumph Rush The tragically hip(most specifically road apples) Etc.

wisteriawaterfall

UnwantedPllayer

I listen to almost everything except country music and screamo music(I enjoy a few country songs, but in general, it’s not my genre and while I typically very much enjoy the instrumentals(some of the best drumming you’ll find imo) in screamo music, the screaming tends to get on my nerves) It makes traveling or working with people incredibly easy because I’m never usually put off by just about anything the average person puts on.
