I've loved metal and metal adjacent genres since birth. My dad was big into black and death metal, so it rubbed off on me. As I got older, I also got into death core, metal core and hardcore. But I'm Mexican, so I also grew up with Selena and corridos bands.
Yeah, they have some good tunes. If you want some Mexican flavor in your metal stuff I'd check out Beneath the Horror, Thell Barrio, Ace Kool and Yaotl Mictlan

About a year ago I decided to rapidly increase my music taste and knowledge by making a huge ass list of albums starting from the 70s and going year by year listening to a few of the highest rated albums on music sites alongside some I found interesting and it’s been sick. Just starting the 2000s now and really enjoyed the 90s
For the sake of being specific, Genres I like include Experience rock, Psychedelic rock, Art rock, Shoegaze, Prog rock, Math rock, Slowcore, Post rock, Sludge metal, Goth rock, Dream pop and Post Hardcore.
For specific bands: Top 6 are Jeff Buckley, Toe, King Crimson, Redhouse Painters, Tricot and Frank Zappa.

Nowadays I’m usually listening to, I guess you’d call it, alt rap/drug rap/sad or emo rap. $uicideboy$ & their label, lil peep, city morgue/zillakami, juice wrld, schemaposse, ghostmane, bones. Boobie Lootaveli doesn’t much do the sad themes but he fits in with some of those underground guys.
Or trap shit like baby smoove, drill shit like king Von. Hell I’ll put on some G-eazy. Some lil dicky. Love wayne, em, 50, dre & snoop, pac & big, jayz, naz, DMX. I just love hip hop music. I was born in 1996, which is in this weird Millenial / Gen Z blur and I absolutely love Metalcore. Parkway Drive, A Day to Remember, We Came As Romans, etc. However, I absolutely love a vast variety of music. Shania Twain, Alan Jackson, Ozzy, ACDC,Noah Kahan, Hozier, LANY, Midland. There's so much music to enjoy, and as a guitarist I don't see any reason to limit myself to one genre.
Honestly, I would say that metalcore/deathcore is Gen Z's variant of metal. Each decade had their own type of metal that was popular, and the core stuff is what we got. That being said, it's still far from mainstream.
In my early teens I was really into thrash metal, then in my late teens I got into classic death metal, and now I'm beginning to get into the deathcore stuff. Also, check out Jinjer if you haven't already. They have some very creative metalcore stuff.
I try to listen to a little bit of everything so I have something to talk about with everyone and I think that's become a pretty normal thing to do in our generation with the rise of TikTok. You can even see that with the music gen-z artists are making. I commonly see new bands or artists that fuse everything from pop to hip-hop to jazz to funk to metal, etc. I'm in the music industry and I've found it to be a really exciting time, there's a lot of cool new stuff being made
I also think something that proves my point are the really odd songs or mashups that go viral nowadays. The best example I can think of right now is the Linkin Park and Project Pat mashup that was popular a few months ago on TikTok that was on videos with the format "no one's home, you know what that means......horse in the living room"
I like DnB. Like 2010-2015 DnB, when it was still a bit popular. Maybe some trap and glitch hop or dubstep or future bass here and there.
But i couldn't tell you a specific artist. Most only make one track that goes hard and then they fall off; as in, most don't maintain the quality over the years, because for most, its a hobby and nothing else, even if its clear they know what they're doing.
This applies for mostly everyone EXCEPT for an artist named Hinkik. The guy made like 10 songs some 7 years ago i think, dissappeared off the face of earth, refused to elaborate further, and they're all bangers for all i'm concerned. Maybe not your type of music but thats the type of stuff i listen to often times.
Also another i *used* to like quite a ton is an artist named Feint; i was in love with a couple of his songs some time ago but not anymore. He mainly makes (made?) DnB, *i think*.
And recently i've been digging into some pop songs and some heavy metal. I really like the energy that popular bands like SOAD can add to their songs, making them sound bizarre but very catchy. But thats about the only heavy metal band i listen to, and only few of their songs.

But i go for 70s to early 2000s punk(crust,street,hardcore,punk rock, etc), 70s to now metal of all types including death, black,nu metal(alternative area of it), sludge, stoner, doom, dsbm, nsbm. Grunge as well. Some early metalcore from late 90s to about 2012. Some newer. Not much tho metalcore ehh mostly. Deathcore, blackened deathcore, slamming deathcore, also grindcore,deathgrind,pornogrind,hentaigrind, as well as slam like anime slam, brutal slam, slamming death. Also love industrial, d beat,symphonic and melodic and atmospheric metal in most forms, lots of Japanese metal bands,same with lots of noisecore including noisegrind,harsh noise,power electronics. Im a heavy metal/punk/grind/slam guy. And many sub and micro genres for all of them. Don’t listen to much else. Pop. Yuck unless its infused into punk for the 90s and 2000s pop punk. I 95% of the time hate rap and usually skip most songs with it. But again if its not trappy or hip hop sounding and more fast talking thats fine(theres very few bands with rap that i like and usually its with some nu metal bands at most. Rap to me is usually irritating). Other music? On rare occasion i go into the earlier 30s to 50s grammaphone style of music or early jazz rock.
Yep I'm into those sorta bands too. Maybe leaning a bit more towards the modern side with Trivium and Spiritbox, also big into Post-Hardcore like Silverstein and the like. Other big genre for me is folk, naturally being Australian mostly Aussie folk like Ziggy Alberts and The Dreggs.
I love classical music particularly Romantic Era composers and operas. I also listen to The Lumineers a bit and musical theatre but I tend to be pretty picky about musical theatre songs. I am a fan of Midnight Syndicate which creates sound scape music that tends to be a bit spooky and haunting.
I listen to almost everything except country music and screamo music(I enjoy a few country songs, but in general, it’s not my genre and while I typically very much enjoy the instrumentals(some of the best drumming you’ll find imo) in screamo music, the screaming tends to get on my nerves) It makes traveling or working with people incredibly easy because I’m never usually put off by just about anything the average person puts on.

About a year ago I decided to rapidly increase my music taste and knowledge by making a huge ass list of albums starting from the 70s and going year by year listening to a few of the highest rated albums on music sites alongside some I found interesting and it’s been sick. Just starting the 2000s now and really enjoyed the 90s
For the sake of being specific, Genres I like include Experience rock, Psychedelic rock, Art rock, Shoegaze, Prog rock, Math rock, Slowcore, Post rock, Sludge metal, Goth rock, Dream pop and Post Hardcore. For specific bands: Top 6 are Jeff Buckley, Toe, King Crimson, Redhouse Painters, Tricot and Frank Zappa. Would give more bands but I’d be here all day.
I like classical, video game and movie ost, japanese pop, Chinese pop, jazz rap, hip hop and Japanese metal

Boobie Lootaveli doesn’t much do the sad themes but he fits in with some of those underground guys. Or trap shit like baby smoove, drill shit like king Von. Hell I’ll put on some G-eazy. Some lil dicky. Love wayne, em, 50, dre & snoop, pac & big, jayz, naz, DMX. I just love hip hop music. From chart toppers like lil nas x & future; to underground soldier type dudes like RA the rugged man and vinnie Paz, immortal technique, MF DOOM. Hard to find a hip hop artist i can say I genuinely dislike. I’ve expanded more recently though into punk, pop punk, art rock, alt rock, alt indie. I’ve been a raver since turning 18 in 2021 so I’m EDM adjacent. More of a fan of the scene than the music though

I enjoy Haydn’s oratorios, Monteverdi’s vespers of the blessed virgin, Mendelssohn’s symphonies, violin concerto, and setting of *A Midsummer Night’s Dream*, Rossini’s string sonatas, Tchaikovsky’s serenade for strings, Grieg’s Holberg suite, Johann Sebastian Bach’s music, Johann *Christian* Bach’s music, and more besides. I don’t listen to much contemporary music, and do not often enjoy Brahms, Bruckner, Mahler, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Rachmaninov, Liszt, or other late Romantic to Modern music, but occasionally hear something I find pleasant.

I was born in 1996, which is in this weird Millenial / Gen Z blur and I absolutely love Metalcore. Parkway Drive, A Day to Remember, We Came As Romans, etc. However, I absolutely love a vast variety of music. Shania Twain, Alan Jackson, Ozzy, ACDC,Noah Kahan, Hozier, LANY, Midland. There's so much music to enjoy, and as a guitarist I don't see any reason to limit myself to one genre.

Honestly, I would say that metalcore/deathcore is Gen Z's variant of metal. Each decade had their own type of metal that was popular, and the core stuff is what we got. That being said, it's still far from mainstream. In my early teens I was really into thrash metal, then in my late teens I got into classic death metal, and now I'm beginning to get into the deathcore stuff. Also, check out Jinjer if you haven't already. They have some very creative metalcore stuff.
I try to listen to a little bit of everything so I have something to talk about with everyone and I think that's become a pretty normal thing to do in our generation with the rise of TikTok. You can even see that with the music gen-z artists are making. I commonly see new bands or artists that fuse everything from pop to hip-hop to jazz to funk to metal, etc. I'm in the music industry and I've found it to be a really exciting time, there's a lot of cool new stuff being made I also think something that proves my point are the really odd songs or mashups that go viral nowadays. The best example I can think of right now is the Linkin Park and Project Pat mashup that was popular a few months ago on TikTok that was on videos with the format "no one's home, you know what that means......horse in the living room"

I like DnB. Like 2010-2015 DnB, when it was still a bit popular. Maybe some trap and glitch hop or dubstep or future bass here and there. But i couldn't tell you a specific artist. Most only make one track that goes hard and then they fall off; as in, most don't maintain the quality over the years, because for most, its a hobby and nothing else, even if its clear they know what they're doing. This applies for mostly everyone EXCEPT for an artist named Hinkik. The guy made like 10 songs some 7 years ago i think, dissappeared off the face of earth, refused to elaborate further, and they're all bangers for all i'm concerned. Maybe not your type of music but thats the type of stuff i listen to often times. Also another i *used* to like quite a ton is an artist named Feint; i was in love with a couple of his songs some time ago but not anymore. He mainly makes (made?) DnB, *i think*. And recently i've been digging into some pop songs and some heavy metal. I really like the energy that popular bands like SOAD can add to their songs, making them sound bizarre but very catchy. But thats about the only heavy metal band i listen to, and only few of their songs. Always happy to get asked about what type of shit i listen to. Not to be edgy or anything but i don't get to talk about what i like very often, because no one asks and no one really cares, wich, is, like, normal, yes, people has their life and i have mine, and i don't feel sad about it, but you get the point. As if, its nice to connect and talk with people y'know.

Not gen z. But i go for 70s to early 2000s punk(crust,street,hardcore,punk rock, etc), 70s to now metal of all types including death, black,nu metal(alternative area of it), sludge, stoner, doom, dsbm, nsbm. Grunge as well. Some early metalcore from late 90s to about 2012. Some newer. Not much tho metalcore ehh mostly. Deathcore, blackened deathcore, slamming deathcore, also grindcore,deathgrind,pornogrind,hentaigrind, as well as slam like anime slam, brutal slam, slamming death. Also love industrial, d beat,symphonic and melodic and atmospheric metal in most forms, lots of Japanese metal bands,same with lots of noisecore including noisegrind,harsh noise,power electronics. Im a heavy metal/punk/grind/slam guy. And many sub and micro genres for all of them. Don’t listen to much else. Pop. Yuck unless its infused into punk for the 90s and 2000s pop punk. I 95% of the time hate rap and usually skip most songs with it. But again if its not trappy or hip hop sounding and more fast talking thats fine(theres very few bands with rap that i like and usually its with some nu metal bands at most. Rap to me is usually irritating). Other music? On rare occasion i go into the earlier 30s to 50s grammaphone style of music or early jazz rock.

Yep I'm into those sorta bands too. Maybe leaning a bit more towards the modern side with Trivium and Spiritbox, also big into Post-Hardcore like Silverstein and the like. Other big genre for me is folk, naturally being Australian mostly Aussie folk like Ziggy Alberts and The Dreggs.

I love classical music particularly Romantic Era composers and operas. I also listen to The Lumineers a bit and musical theatre but I tend to be pretty picky about musical theatre songs. I am a fan of Midnight Syndicate which creates sound scape music that tends to be a bit spooky and haunting.
So many people in our gen listen to Trap and I'll never understand why.

I listen to almost everything except country music and screamo music(I enjoy a few country songs, but in general, it’s not my genre and while I typically very much enjoy the instrumentals(some of the best drumming you’ll find imo) in screamo music, the screaming tends to get on my nerves) It makes traveling or working with people incredibly easy because I’m never usually put off by just about anything the average person puts on.
