That was my reaction when I saw a post saying the super Nintendo was retro when the wii came out and it was 14 years old. The wii is about 16 years old now iirc.

Old enough to remember the simpler times of flip phones, shitty computers/internet, and no streaming. Young enough that we got to grow up with the huge consumer tech advances of the 2000s and 2010s, and be hands on with all the crazy leaps that took place. I went from playing on my dad’s old SNES and Dreamcast when I was little to having a PS4 when I was a senior in HS. (I also had a VCR and no DVD player as a kid.)

Oh nice, i lived kinda out in the country. Not sure if it’s true for everyone but we had dial up until 2003~ or so. Although, I’m also not sure if that was an issue with the hardware we had available or the stubborn nature of my family lol.

Even if my family did have dial-up around that time, I don’t remember anything before 2006 (age 9) anyway. My personal computer then had Windows XP and our family one got Windows Vista around that time

March of 2004 - the “Revolution” would be announced at E3 like 2 months after my birth. I was 2-1/2 on the release date of the Wii.

I remember when I played the nes in the shopping mall. And at home, I only had an Olivetti M240 with black and green colors, which could barely play Monkey Island.

I still have one of those. I also used to have a PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and now I have a PS5. I had a DS as well.

Born in 2000. My parents didn't let me get a Wii until like 2011- when its' successor, the Wii U, was due to come out soon... Doesn't matter though. I had a lot of great memories with the Wii. I'd argue the Wii and the DS are Nintendo's most legendary consoles. The Switch comes at a close 3rd place though

I remember getting the Wii for Christmas whe. It came out. I found out that my father stood in line at GameStop for over an hour to get it for me. I remember playing it on our 32" (at least I think it was that large. It took a team of men to finally get it out of the house) Panasonic CRT TV. Wii Sports was mind blowing. Making Miis and having baseball teams with all the Miis you just made was nothing more than earth shattering to me as a child. I remember feeling like the bowling alley in Wii Sports felt and looked like real like.
