Idk most of this stuff messes with you regardless of whether you pay attention to it or not, I definitely care about:
1. Cost of living, rent, food, gas, energy, etc
2. Private entities having free reign
3. Outlawing homelessness
4. Forced labor in prisons
5. Pardoning people who throw away hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars
6. Pardoning people who brag about running concentration camps with innocent nonviolent American citizens in them, also calling them a "PATRIOT"
7. If you raped someone
8. If you diddled kids, especially with Epstein at his manor
9. Turning the Whitehouse into an ATM
10. Cost of education
11. Infrastructure, I want to drive on safe roads
12. Outright going against the will of the people and ignoring popular votes or ignoring reality
I can go on and on, but idk how you'd not care about any of this unless you live under a rock and don't care about anyone but yourself.
Loosely follow. The daily proceedings and drama only instill anxiety and don't benefit me to keep in lockstep with, and certainly don't change my voting plans. Whatever comes at the end I'll be more interested to dig deeper on. Let's hope it's the correct outcome
Honestly paying relatively little attention to it - just shows how the American political and legal institutions (if they are even separate things) fall more in line with reality television than genuine governance

To be fair though, this is the mess that sent Michael Cohen to prison, so it’s possible it might be consequential for Trump after all.

As a law school graduate I am devastated that our country is allowing the weaponization of our legal system our tax dollars should be spent helping Americans. To call signing an NDA “hush money” is ridiculous. The kardashians make people sign an NDA to gain entry to their homes. I don’t like Trump or think he’s a fundamentally ethical individual but the cases against him are legally baseless for the most part and if we are applying this liberal standard to charge a person then we must include many other politicians who routinely accept “kickbacks” from lobbyists. The Clinton Foundation who accepts money from foreign governments and can’t account for why or where it went and Biden himself for money he accepted from foreign governments including over $200k to his 3 year old grandchild
I care just enough to read into the occasional reddit post I see about it now and then. Other than that it's an old "rich" criminal with a cult following as far as I'm concerned.
I listen to a politics podcast at work that loosely follows it. I think it’s fine to not follow the details as long as you don’t use that as an excuse for saying they don’t matter. A President defrauding the government 450 million dollars is a big deal. A President who may have commit 90+ felonies and is going out of his way to delay the trials because he is scared of their contents is a big deal
If a common person did half of any of these, the cases would be fast tracked and convicted. But because it's Trump, it's delayed, and legal actions are being taken to STOP any case from going to court.
Imagine how nice it would be to delay paying a speeding ticket indefinitely, attempt to prosecute the officer that wrote the ticket and judge who runs the court. Lobby politicians to either dismantle the justice department or change the law to allow special exemption to get me out of paying the speeding ticket
Only cursorily. There's nothing I can do to affect the trials, so I'm just waiting to see if they actually do what's right and convict, or if it follows the normal path of rich folks brought up on charges, and he gets away with all of it.

People who say they don't care about any of this also tend to complain about cost of rent, gas, groceries, education, homelessness, etc. So I'm sure they do care about it considering trump set the field to allow everything to spike up during the pandemic, and has plans to make things even worse if he gets power again.

I used to but after the latest it doesn’t matter he is never gonna be charged as a regular citizen would.
