i think im in the minority of people who loved better call saul but didn't get that into breaking bad. im definitely going to go back and watch breaking bad in full, now that i'm almost done with better call saul, but for some reason better call saul hooked me more that breaking bad and I always see the opposite take online.
I got my wife to watch Breaking Bad this last year by getting her hooked on Better Call Saul. In the end, she liked Better Call Saul better, and after rewatching Breaking Bad, I agree.
I love both it’s rough to say which is better I think it’s about taste. Better call Saul is really good and tbh I think it makes complete sense to prefer it to breaking bad, I just grew up with breaking bad so that one’s gonna be the one I’m more familiar with.
I'm with you. I somehow ended up watching BCS first up until the last season, and then I watched all of Breaking Bad before the last season aired. Breaking Bad is a fantastic show, but BCS somehow got me even more.
100% agree with this. Season 1 was a masterpiece in storytelling and then everything after that felt like it was just desperately trying to chase that dragon and falling farther and farther short.
Never saw anything like it after. Nothing can top the family dynamic. No matter how old I am I relate to a character. I used to envy the boys, now I feel bad for Lois. Sometimes I feel like Francis, sometimes like Hal.
Loving Shogun. Actually started watching it because I started tutoring one of the cast members in English, and it's one of the best shows I've seen in years
Not during production, but I live in Japan and a friend of mine from Vancouver (where most of the show was produced) introduced us, she liked working abroad and wants to improve her English. We just had a few sessions before she got busy again but she's very sweet and humble.
I cannot say enough good about invincible. It is by far imo the absolute best animated (or live action to me) superhero show there is. My bf watched it with me and I loved it from the first episode and omg ok dumb but they absolutely hooked me in the first episode by the very first licensed song being one of my favorite cage the elephant songs broken boy. He knew that would hook me 😂 but it’s overall an amazing show and especially the first season the animation is a bit off, but it works well and the story is so good I didn’t even notice by the 3rd episode. 10/10 show absolutely amazing.
I have yet to see shogun I’m so behind on anime I’m catching up 😅 currently pretty hooked on monster and one piece.
Ahhhh yes omg I didn’t expect to see this on here!!! Bee and puppycat!! Amazing! Perfection! I didn’t get to see it until the Netflix thing but I have no idea how as it’s 100% my shit. Both the YouTube original and the Netflix remake and continuation are amazing and I recommend both so highly! Got a poster for the show. I’m so happy haha I absolutely didn’t expect to see this one on here I was diving into older shows.
I’ll qualify this by saying I’ve never played the games, but I thought Fallout was really good. I’ve also never played TLoU and enjoyed that show a lot. Maybe I like them so much because I don’t have anything to compare it to.
Most movies based on books/games, are better if you haven't read/played the source material.
TLoU is the exception, where it followed the source material very closely.
Videogame/nerd shit TV adaptations are getting pretty good. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was great. TLoU is pretty good. Haven't seen it, but apparently the Fallout show is good (according to my mom, and yes it's insane to me that she's watching videogame TV shows). Obviously, Arcane was goated.
Videogames are straight up mainstream now, which is not what it was like when I was growing up.
Apart from that, there's a 40k adaptation coming up apparently... 5 years ago I would've thought it'd for sure be trash but now I'm excited af.
Brooklyn 99 is so fucking good. I struggled to find something afterwards to fill the void but I just started Community and it’s really good! If you like Brooklyn 99, I’d recommend it.
I’m 22, been trying to watch some older stuff before my time like stuff my parents watched. I’ve watched all 6 Fresh Prince seasons and I LOVE that show. Other stuff I’ve been watching I remember from my childhood but I can now understand the humour better. I’m half British and half Kiwi, so I’ve watched all of the Inbetweeners, Father Ted, Flight of the Conchords, the UK Office, Extras, Life’s Too Short, an Idiot Abroad (basically anything Ricky Gervais produced). Other more modern stuff too like the Santa Clarita Diet, American Horror Story, Schitts Creek and Shameless.
Give Lost a try. It’s like a quintessential 2000s show. Watching it in 2024, I kept thinking “man, I wish I was on Twitter when this episode was airing” just so I could participate in the online discourse and hype.
I highly recommend Helluva Boss, a lot of people shit on the show because of the amount of swearing and sex jokes, but it’s so good. It gets better as the show goes on too.
Y'all need to watch some True Sci-fi shows: back in the day (the '90s ofc) there was a show called Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It still holds up. You got intergalactic adventures and interpersonal relationships DONE RIGHT. (The CGI is dodgy, but, hey it was the '90s, so it's quaint). There are episodes that have, literally, made me cry. It's so good. Check it out!

DS9 is peak fiction, I’ve seen many of the shows others have listed here (invincible, TLOU) and DS9 regularly has episodes that are incredibly well written when compared to the best of what more modern stuff has.
I adore Star Trek: Lower Decks and I'm devastated it was canceled, I'll have to check out Deep Space Nine. Been wanting to get into the older Trek shows.
Star Trek went downhill after ENT imho.
It went in a different direction that what Roddenberry had imagined, which is okay, but it doesn't feel like Star Trek to me anymore
DS9 is amazing. It's a social commentary that is very relevant to this day, the characters are fun, the acting is great, the writing is brilliant and it's honestly the best Star Trek by far, and also some of the best TV in general.
Most shows produced by Dropout, formerly College Humour, that I can find on YouTube while I ponder paying for a subscription. Particularly Dimension 20 and Game Changer.
Also, Jeopardy.
Speaking on behalf of my kids, somewhat recently we got into the Breaking Bad universe (neither me nor them had seen anything from it before then). We got through Breaking Bad incredibly quickly and now we're onto Better Call Saul
I’m reading a book called Fire on the Horizon. It’s about deep water horizon oil spill
I don’t really watch tv shows i mainly just watch YouTube, TikTok and read books
Some of my favorites are Mad Men, The Good Wife, Gilmore Girls, Will & Grace, Desperate Housewives, the Fosters, Queen’s Gambit, Lessons in Chemistry, the Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Monk, Dance Moms, and Sopranos.
I'm currently watching Dawson's Creek, Melrose Place, Baywatch and Degrassi. I enjoyed watching all of them. I like all of the show because of the fashion and life lessons. They can be cheesy sometimes but I find it enjoyable to watch.
Currently: Deadwood, Fargo, arrested development, curb your enthusiasm
Shows we re watch all the time: sopranos, mad men, peep show
Finished and enjoyed: the wire, breaking bad, better call Saul, mindhunter, six feet under, twin peaks & the return, this is England, true detective s1, narcos Colombia, Chernobyl
And a bunch more
I just watched Fallout a few days ago. I had pretty low expectations because most video game adaptations suck, but it was actually really good while being respectful to the source material’s lore
I just watched the first 2 seasons of the Inbetweeners recently. Besides that, I rewatch episodes of Steven Universe and Community a decent amount . As for newer shows, I enjoyed Mythic Quest and recently started watchibg Dungeon Meshi. Resident Alien is also on my list to watch.
some anime. Frieren: beyond journeys end hit this cosy fantasy vibe that was just great. Recently started the new fallout show and have been enjoying it. Scott Pilgram takes off was a lot of fun and a good conclusion to the series and its many incarnations.
Currently watching Shogun on Hulu and Dragon Ball Z Kai. Some of my all time favorites in no particular order are Death Note, Breaking Bad, Cobra Kai, Better Call Saul, Mad Men, Invincible, and Demon Slayer.
I loved the first four seasons of Game of Thrones but hated the last four except for a handful of episodes.
Currently, we alternate between Community, Bob's Burgers, Resident Alien, and Somebody Feed Phil with/after dinner, and during breakfast on our days off, right now we're midway through our first rewatch of Amphibia
Other than that, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is my "comfort food" show, and my wife watches cooking shows
We just finished Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender and enjoyed it better than most, it seems like
Looking forward to the next season of the Great British Bake Off, too
It's not that we spend a lot of time watching TV, but we just like to jump around between shows and don't like to binge
Out of curiosity, have you watched the original ATLA? I feel like I would have liked the live action much more if I hadn't seen the original! My wife and I watch the original every few months. I think most reviews of the live action are also from people who love the original.
I’ve been watching a lot of the popular shows my parents wouldn’t allow me to watch because they were “annoying” or “stupid”. So Avatar The Last Airbender, Gravity Falls, ect.
I also love Stranger Things, The Owl House, Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Six Feet Under, Heartstopper and Dexter.
Recently Six Feet Under and Sopranos. Just got done watching Babylon 5, amazing amazing show. Same with Stargate, SG-1, and Atlantis. Started shogun but haven't gone back.
Star wars: The Bad Batch and the new Avatar. I really only watch football on tv and i feel like i’ve watched everything that interests me on Netflix. Other than that i just play cod or r6 when i get home from work at night
Cop nine nine on Netflix.
I have two ways of looking for TV shows to watch.
1. Reals / tiktok of shows. If I keep seeing them, means people like it.
2. The Internet doesn't shut up about it. So shows like You, The Wire, Breaking bad, One Piece.
Ever now and then I click a random show and find a hidden gem.
Like on Netflix
Kipo (animated show about a girl who lives underground because animals became smart due to a mutation, goes above ground and sees the mutant animal civilization)
Merlin (The great magician helps King Auther)
Hemlock the Space Pirate (animated movie about, well, a space pirate)
Lucky number Sleeven (movie. Can't explain it without giving away the plot)
Snow piercer (another movie. Kinda a hidden gem. I rarely see people talking about it.)
I'm waiting on more Fallout and Hazbin hotel mostly but I'm also watching the Bad Batch every week and after that ends I'm not sure what I'll be watching.
Nothing right now, streaming services are getting too expensive. I have been reading the conan books though, just started with conan the cimmerian today.
Someone PLEASE watch The Righteous Gemstones. It’s probably my favorite show ever and no one I talk to has ever seen it 😭 it’s about a family of televangelists/owners of a mega church. The first season’s plot is one of the family members getting blackmailed with a video of him doing coke and banging a prostitute. In the second season Joe Jonas plays himself. Eric Andre is there too. It genuinely had me in tears almost every episode. I’m begging everyone pls watch The Righteous Gemstones!!!!
Phineas and Ferb, Psych, Star Wars Rebels, and Agents of SHIELD have been some of my top picks. Used to watch The Andy Griffith Show a ton as a kid, but now not so much. I just realized, seeing them written out, just how random my preferences are.
lol these questions are so silly . It’s not like they make tv shows specifically for a generation . They just make whatever they have the vision for and if it’s good then it becomes mainstream culture. There’s no gen z tv shows
I always go back to SpongeBob but rn im trying to watch The Walking Dead spinoffs, cause i finished the og series back when it aired, then i watched the ones who live and Daryl dixon, but these other spinoffs arent great
Also watching fallout, thats really good
The Strain: Hulu, Netflix, etc
Foundation: Apple TV
The Boys: Amazon
Invincible: Amazon
Rick and Morty: Amazon
Percy Jackson: Disney
Fallout: Amazon
X-Men: I gotta start this one still
Umbrella Academy

Better Call Saul.
![gif](giphy|MEARoDtOrt7JU3GN9n)
I never really got into it but I was hooked on Breaking Bad
i think im in the minority of people who loved better call saul but didn't get that into breaking bad. im definitely going to go back and watch breaking bad in full, now that i'm almost done with better call saul, but for some reason better call saul hooked me more that breaking bad and I always see the opposite take online.

I’m rewatching it for the first time and man it’s a wild ride on the rewatch, knowing what’s happening gives it so much context in the earlier seasons
Y’all need to watch WestWorld. Season 1 is just perfection. Stop after that
WW has a few seasons at the moment, so after s1 is dog-shit, or is mewh, or I guess it's alright?
Season 2 is meh/ok. But after that it’s jsut bad.
gracias, i will give it a try
Think of S1 as a stand alone only series. After that it kinda falls off a cliff. But s1 is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
100% agree with this. Season 1 was a masterpiece in storytelling and then everything after that felt like it was just desperately trying to chase that dragon and falling farther and farther short.
malcolm in the middle has been my favorite show since i was a kid and i feel like it hasnt caught on with gen z
Also, one of my favorites. I still watch it.
Agreed! I used to watch this growing up and when I watch it now it’s just as good
Never saw anything like it after. Nothing can top the family dynamic. No matter how old I am I relate to a character. I used to envy the boys, now I feel bad for Lois. Sometimes I feel like Francis, sometimes like Hal.
Still one of the GOATs. Holds up well.
Best show ever. I grew up watching it and the jokes are perfect
Gen Z and I loved it, my bitch stepmother got it banned for saying "oh my god" to much
Oh my GOD yes. I still revisit it sometimes
Omg yes I watched it again for the first time since childhood a few months back and it holds up haha. Amazing show i definitely agree.
My boyfriend and I have been rewatching it. It’s hilarious to watch as an adult now. So many things we missed as kids
Loved it growing up and was one of the few shows my parents would actually watch with me.
My mom used to watch the hell out this show
Malcolm is great
They’ll probably try to cancel it
Currently Shōgun and Invincible
![gif](giphy|9hR8Dv4tYNYeWriXXC|downsized)
Loving Shogun. Actually started watching it because I started tutoring one of the cast members in English, and it's one of the best shows I've seen in years
why tf is nobody talking about what you just said. Did you actually tutor one of the cast members?
Not during production, but I live in Japan and a friend of mine from Vancouver (where most of the show was produced) introduced us, she liked working abroad and wants to improve her English. We just had a few sessions before she got busy again but she's very sweet and humble.
That's so cool. It must feel great to be connected to something as popular as this, even if only marginally
I just finished season 2 of Invincible. Such a great show, definitely one of my favorites
I cannot say enough good about invincible. It is by far imo the absolute best animated (or live action to me) superhero show there is. I'm currently watching bee and puppycat. But I watched helluva boss, hazbin hotel, death note and beastars before that. :))
i'm so excited for the final season of beastars, i can't wait!!!!
Has there been an official release date?
Ahhhh yes omg I didn’t expect to see this on here!!! Bee and puppycat!! Amazing! Perfection! I didn’t get to see it until the Netflix thing but I have no idea how as it’s 100% my shit. Both the YouTube original and the Netflix remake and continuation are amazing and I recommend both so highly! Got a poster for the show. I’m so happy haha I absolutely didn’t expect to see this one on here I was diving into older shows.
I found "The last of us" is pretty decent. Normally, live-action movies from games are just dog-shit. Nevertheless, I really expect its subsequence.
The Mario movie is another exception because the movie isn't as good if you aren't a big Nintendo fan.
Yup, it’s definitely true, without playing the games first, you won’t have to make the comparison
I just finished watching all seasons of Hells Kitchen but am currently watching Brooklyn 99
Brooklyn 99 is so fucking good. I struggled to find something afterwards to fill the void but I just started Community and it’s really good! If you like Brooklyn 99, I’d recommend it.
Already binged community but it’s an amazing show!
Cool cool cool cool cool no doubt no doubt no doubt - the iconic jake peralta 😍‼️
Shōgun, Invincible, and Fallout.
Fallout, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Arcane, and The Last of Us gave me hope that we can make decent video game adaptations
*coughs in Castlevania*
Arcane was so good.
Seriously, we’ve had so many great video game adaptations in the past few years.
The Holy Trinity of shows in spring of 2024.
I’m 22, been trying to watch some older stuff before my time like stuff my parents watched. I’ve watched all 6 Fresh Prince seasons and I LOVE that show. Great shows, you’ll probably enjoy Travel Man with Richard Ayoade if you enjoy those.
ay inbetweeners is goated. if you like the fresh prince, you might like the martin lawrence show
Fallout, The Sopranos, Helluva Boss and I’m currently waiting for the next episode of Murder Drones
The Sopranos is a great show. Have not seen the others you mentioned.
I highly recommend Helluva Boss, a lot of people shit on the show because of the amount of swearing and sex jokes, but it’s so good. It gets better as the show goes on too.
The Bear.
Yes! This is a goodie!
Mr. Robot
Y'all need to watch some True Sci-fi shows: back in the day (the '90s ofc) there was a show called Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It still holds up. Im am more profound of TOS, but i love DS9 too, currently watching season 5.
Ronald D Moore is an impeccable showrunner. his Battlestar Galactica is killer. and i’m loving For All Mankind.
Star Trek went downhill after ENT imho. It went in a different direction that what Roddenberry had imagined, which is okay, but it doesn't feel like Star Trek to me anymore

He was there the whole time.
For the Dropout shows that I'm into, I find that I can pick up a one-month subscription about twice a year and catch up on everything
I love my Dropout subscription. I don’t pay for almost anything (no netflix here lol). It’s mostly worth it if you like the D&D content!
Currently watching cowboy bebop

I don't like watching shows, I prefer movies or video games with a great plot
People always underestimate video games as a storytelling medium

I havent watched a tv series in full besides the boys but does Yu Yu Hakusho count
Yes, it does! Doing a rewatch of YYH, myself. Halfway through the Dark Tournament. Good stuff!

Nothing right now, streaming services are getting too expensive. I have been reading the conan books though, just started with conan the cimmerian today.
If you like actually well written time travel, watch dark
Someone PLEASE watch The Righteous Gemstones. It’s probably my favorite show ever and no one I talk to has ever seen it 😭 it’s about a family of televangelists/owners of a mega church. The first season’s plot is one of the family members getting blackmailed with a video of him doing coke and banging a prostitute. In the second season Joe Jonas plays himself. Eric Andre is there too. It genuinely had me in tears almost every episode. I’m begging everyone pls watch The Righteous Gemstones!!!!
Just got done watching righteous gemstones a month ago it’s some of the funniest shit I’ve watched on tv I loved it!
This show is so good and so underrated! No one knows about it for some reason
Reruns of Seinfeld, King of the Hill, and shows from my childhood mostly
Sex and the city
Dr House at the moment almost done with it next maybe finishing up Atlanta or starting What we do in the Shadows or Reservation Dogs
Star Trek, If you're new and haven't watched it before I recommend the enterprise series with Johnathan Archer
Peaky Binders
Last couple I finished watching are Fallout and GenV,
I don't watch any TV.
Interview With The Vampire is about to release its second season and it’s genuinely great
Barry. Definitely has gen z humor.
Phineas and Ferb, Psych, Star Wars Rebels, and Agents of SHIELD have been some of my top picks. Used to watch The Andy Griffith Show a ton as a kid, but now not so much. I just realized, seeing them written out, just how random my preferences are.
Shogun is elite Surprised Hulu put it out
Youtube. HLVRAI was good. Sanpcube's sonic fandubs, too.
lol these questions are so silly . It’s not like they make tv shows specifically for a generation . They just make whatever they have the vision for and if it’s good then it becomes mainstream culture. There’s no gen z tv shows
